Abstract

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the vegetables that are commonly cultivated by using hydroponic systems. Some hydroponic systems require high current expenses in particular for the electricity in order to circulate nutrient solution e.g. in the water culture system – deep flow technique (DFT) -. Electricity costs can be reduced by changing from continuous nutrient flow to intermittent nutrient flow. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of interval nutrient flow on growth and yield of lettuce. The experiment was conducted in Cirebon from February to April 2018. The experiment was arranged by using randomized complete block design with four treatments: (i) continuous nutrient flow (control), intermittent nutrient flow (nutrient flow during (ii) 15 minutes, (iii) 30 minutes, and (iv) 45 minutes). For each intermittent treatment, the nutrient flow was interrupted for 60 minutes. Each treatment was repeated four times. The result showed nutrient flow interval affected to plant height, shoot diameter, and leaf area at 35 days after planting (DAP). Meanwhile, leaves number, root volume, and fresh weight of harvested crops were not significantly different in all nutrient interval treatments. The highest plant height and shoot diameter were detected in the treatment (ii) nutrient flow during 15 minutes and interruption for 60 minutes, the results were not significantly different to the control – continuous flow treatment. It can be concluded the interval nutrient flow can be used as an alternative of the continuous flow of nutrient solution in hydroponically DFT.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for increasing Local Own Revenue (PAD) through regional investment in Palu City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through documentation studies, in-depth interviews with key informants from BPKAD, DPMPTSP, Bappeda Palu City, and field observations. The results showed that Palu City's PAD has fluctuated over the past 10 years with the largest contribution from local taxes and levies. Regional investment through regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) has not been optimal in providing significant contribution to PAD. PAD enhancement strategies include: (1) optimizing regional asset management, (2) developing profitable BUMDs, (3) increasing investment in potential sectors, and (4) improving regional investment governance. This research provides policy recommendations to increase the effectiveness of regional investment as a sustainable source of PAD.

Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of leguminous plants, one of which is jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis L). Jack bean has great potential as an alternative food source to replace soybeans and as an easily accessible source of protein at an affordable price. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of rhizobium inoculation and nitrogen fertilizer application on the growth, yield, and protein content of jack bean seeds. This study was conducted from June to November 2025 in Kaliaren Village, Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia. The study employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) experimental method, consisting of 6 treatment combinations of nitrogen fertilizer dosage and rhizobium inoculation, repeated 4 times. Observation parameters included plant height, stem diameter, number of branches, RGR, NAR, weight of root nodules and weight of active root nodules (growth), number of pods, pod weight, dry seed weight (yield), and seed protein content. The results showed that there was no significant difference between treatments in terms of the protein content of jack beans, but the treatment of 200 kg N/ha and 0 g Rhizobium sp/kg seeds. had a significant effect on the growth and yield of jack beans.

Abstract

Background: The increase of disease outbreaks that have emerged in the last decade raises the question of whether it is related to climate change? Objectives: This article attempts to provide answers through a literature review. Research Metodes: VOSviewer application was used to help select topics to be discussed. Twenty articles related to outbreak, diseases and climate change were selected and then presented descriptively. Findings: The results obtained by climate change contribute to imbalances that can lead to disasters including disease outbreaks. Therefore, humans should start placing themselves as part of the ecosystem, not the ruler of the ecosystem. Conclusion: A science and technology approach based on local values is needed, by utilizing good environmental communication to provide knowledge to the community so that they are able to adapt and be aware of preventive efforts to realize a healthy life.
