Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of atonic concentrations which can increase plant growth and yield of shallot (Allium cepa L. Aggregatum Group) of Lembah Palu variety.  This study was conducted from February to May 2015in Bulupountu village, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi Province.  This study used a Randomized Block designin which grouping was based on diameter of shallot bulbs. Five treatments with four replicates were applied including Control (A0), 0.25 ml atonic/l water(A1),0.50 ml atonic/l water (A2), 0.75 ml atonic/l water(A3), and 1.0 ml atonic/l water (A4).Datawas analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by a HSD test at 5% if the atonic effect was significant.  The atonic concentrations significantly affected the growth and yield of Lembah Palu shallot variety in which the best treatment was found in the application of 1.0 ml atonic/l water.  Keywords: Atonic, Lembah Palu shallot variety.

Abstract

The aims of the experiment were to determine the coefficient of genetic diversity, heritability and correlation between these characters. The experiment was conducted in Palolo District of Donggala and Lore Regency of Poso, Central Sulawesi from May to August 2006.  The experiment used a Randomized Block Design with five replicates.  The treatment was six different villages: Baku-bakulu, Wuasa, Sigimpu, Bobo, Batumaeta and Winoanga, therefore, there were 30 experimental units used.  The results of the experiment indicated that 11 characters showed a large diversity coefficient while the other six characters had a small coefficient.  Plant height and leaf midrib length had a small heritability value while 15 other characters had a moderate value.  Such characters as plant height, leaf midrib length, first formed female spadix length, length of female spadix, twist of female spadix stalk, number of fruit, length of first formed male spadix, length of male spadix, length of male spadix stalk and twist of male spadix stalk could be used as indicators for indirect selection to enhance palm sap yield.

Abstract

Apple development by vegetative propagation via tissue culture is an effort to reduce the import of apple.  This experiment aimed to investigate media composition (cytokinin and NAA combination) suitable for initiation of apple.  A Completely Randomized Design was employed, with four treatments i.e., : 3 ppm Benzylaminopurine (BAP) + 0.2 ppm NAA (P1), 4 ppm BAP + 0.2 ppm NAA (P2), 2 ppm kinetin + 0.2 ppm NAA (P3) and 3 ppm kinetin + 0.2 ppm NAA (P4), Parameters observed included number of shoots, leaves and nodes. Results of this experiment showed that the use of medium composition with 4 ppm BAP + 0.2 ppm NAA produced the most intensive shoot, leaf and node growth. However, medium composition with 3 ppm BAP + 0.2 ppm NAA had a good initiation quality.

Abstract

Paddy is one of the important cereal crops as food a main  food for a third of the world's population, including Asia. Production of paddy rice plants can be improved through plant genetic improvement. The ebjective of this study was examine the genetic diversity, heritability, and correlation between the characteristics of several local upland rice cultivars. This study was carried out in Tamarenja Village, Sindue District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. It was began in May to October 2018. A Randomized Block Design with eight cultivars as a genotypic treatment and reapeted three times was used in this study. There were 24 trial plots in total. Variables observed included plant height, number of leaves, length of leaves, number of tillers, number of productive tillers, age of panicle exit, panicle length, harvest age, number of seeds per panicle, seed length, seed diameter, weight of 100 seeds, and total yield. The results showed that the genetic influences were more dominant than the environment on all observed variables except the weight of 100 seeds and seed diameter. The number of seeds per panicle, the number of tillers and the number of productive tillers were traits that have a high value on heritability and genetic progress. Panicle length, seed diameter and weight of 100 seeds were characteristics that have a high genetic correlation coefficient on upland rice yields. The weight of 100 seeds has a direct influence and high genetic correlation to the results so that it can be used as a direct selection criterion to increase upland rice yields.

Abstract

The need for soybean increasing every year causes soybean imports to be done continually, so an effort to increase the production must be done to reduce dependency on imported soybean. This study aims to determine the characters that can be used as an indicator of selection to increase soybean yields. The study was conducted in the village of Sa'atu, Coastal Poso Subdistrict, Poso Regency, Central Celebes Province, from January to April 2011. Using a randomized block design (RBD) with 30 genotypes (varieties) as the treatments that were repeated 3 times, so it obtained 90 units of experimental plots. The observed variables were plant height at harvesting time, flowering age, harvesting age, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of productive branches per plant, total weight of pods per plot, weight of 100 seeds and yield of seeds. The results showed that plant height at harvesting time, harvesting age and number of seeds per pod have genetic variability coefficients that were moderate while the other traits were high. The number of pods per clump and the number of seeds per pod have moderate heritability values while the other traits were high enough. Harvesting age has a significant negative genetic correlation with the yield while the number of productive branches, total weight of pods per plot and weight of 100 seeds have significant positive genetic correlations with soybean yields. Weight of pods per plot is a trait that has high direct effect on and significant positive correlation with the yields so it can be used as an indicator of trait selection to improve soybean yields.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the characteristics of mango plants based on their leaf morphology and anatomy in Bahomoleo and Bente villages, Central Bungku sub district, Morowali district. Observation on morphological features was implemented in Bahomoleo and Bente village, whereas anatomical observations were made in the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Faculty of  Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Tadulako University.  The study was conducted in March to May 2016. The morphological parameters observed included plant age, plant height, stem diameter, canopy diameter, canopy shape and bar color.  The leaf anatomy variables consisted of stomata size, epidermis size, stomata number, epidermis number, stomatal density and stomatal index.The morphological and anatomical characters observed based on a cluster analysis and were described in a dendogram form. The results of cluster analysis of both villages on the distance of 0.648 resulted in three accessions namely BT1, BT8 and BM9. The highest stomatal index of both villages is the accession BT8 and the lowest accession is the BM9, while the highest stomatal density/mm2is the accession BT8, and the lowest one is the accession BT1 and BM9.  Keywords: Dendogram, Leaf anatomy, Morphology, and Mango.

Abstract

The experiment aimed to study the effect of media and to see the effect ofliquid organic fertilizer taking from goat manure on growth yield of mustard. This research has been conducted in the green house Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako Palu from March 2014-April 2014. The research using Randomized Block Design (RBD), two factors. The first factor is the use of various types of media that is soil (M1); soil+sawdust (M2); soil+rice husk (M3). The second factor a liquid organic fertilizer of goat manure consisting of 3 levels ie1.6% liquid organic fertilizer/plant (C1), giving 2.4% /plants (C2) and the provision of 3.2% /plants (C3). Thus there are 9 treatment combination srepeated 3 times, so there are 27 experimental units. The results showed the use of various types of media and liquid organic fertilizer in fluence on components of plant height, leaf number, leaf area, fresh weight of root, leaf fresh weight, root dry weight, and dry weight of the plant leaf.  Based on the results of the study showed that aplication of 3.2% liquid organic fertilizer/plant (C3) in the mustard plant significant effectonall components of the observation. Medium soil+rice husk (M3) effect on growth of mustard. The interaction between the concentration of liquid organic fertilizers and media significant effecton the components of plant height, leaf area, fresh weight of roots, leaf fresh weight, root dry weight, dry weight of the leaf. Key Words : Mustard Plants, media, liquid organic fertilizer.

Abstract

Sulawesi Tengah merupakan salah satu provinsi yang kaya akan plasma nutfah padi gogo lokal, hanya saja belum teridentifikasi. Identifikasi dan seleksi sangat perlu untuk dilakukan untuk memperoleh plasma nuthfah padi gogo lokal yang memiliki genetik yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji nilai koefisien keragaman genetik dan heritabilitas beberapa kultivar padi gogo lokal. Penelitiaan ini dilaksanakan di lahan pertanian di Desa Tamarenja pada ketinggian tempat 180 sampai 250 mdpl, dengan letak lintang LS 00o26’51.5” dan BT 119o49’50.6”, Kecamatan Sindue, Kabupaten Donggala. Waktu penelitian dimulai dari bulan Maret sampai Agustus 20222. Penelitian ini disusun menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan tujuh Kultivar sebagai perlakuan yaitu: K1=Dongan, K2= Buncaili, K3= Pae Bohe, K4= Uva Buya , K5= Jahara, K6= Pulu Tau Leru dan K7= Pulu Konta, yang diulang sebanyak empat kali sehingga diperoleh 28 petak percobaan, dimana setiap petak percobaan terdapat 28 rumpun sehingga total keseluruhan sebanyak 748 rumpun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sifat yang diamati memiliki nilai koefisien keragaman genetik tergolong tinggi yaitu persentase gabah hampa, dan keragaman genetik tergolong rendah kecuali jumlah gabah/malai dan produksi tergolong agak rendah. Panjang daun, umur keluar malai, umur panen, dan jumlah gabah/malai merupakan sifat-sifat yang mempunyai nilai heritabilitas dan kemajuan genetik harapan yang tinggi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Tadulako dari bulan Maret - April 2016. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji respon perkecambahan beberapa kultivar padi gogo pada tekanan osmosik PEG (polyethylene glycol) yang berbeda. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang disusun dengan pola faktorial dua faktor menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Faktor pertama terdiri lima kultivar. Faktor kedua terdiri atas empat perlakuan PEG 6000 dengan perbedaan tekanan, yaitu tanpa PEG,-1 bar, -2 bar, dan -3 bar, sehingga terdapat 16 kombinasi perlakuan yang diulang empat kali. Hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan sidik ragam (Uji-F), apabila hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dilakukan uji lanjut beda nyata jujur (BNJ) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semua varietas padi gogo lokal memiliki respon berkecambah hingga pemberian tekanan osmosis -3 bar. Kultivar Tagolu dan Tokalang memiliki kecepatan lebih tinggi pada fase perkecambaha. Kultivar Tokalang merupakan varietas yang toleran terhadap kekeringan dan memilikii kemampuan berkecambah normal. Pemberian tekanan osomosis berupa PEG 6000 hingga -3 bar menyebabkan cekaman kekeringan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik tanaman manggis berdasarkan cirri morfologi dan anatomi daun. Penelitian dilaksanakan di KabupatenMorowali Utara.Pengamatan dilaksanakan di Desa Olomukunde, Taliwan danTomata. Pengamatanan anatomi dilakukan di Laboratoroium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih serta Laboratorium Hama dan Penyakit Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Tadulako. Penelitian dilaksanakan Bulan Desember hingga Februari 2016. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakter morfologi dan anatomi yang diamati berdasarkan analisis cluster yang digambarkan dalam bentuk dendrogram. Hasil analisis kluster dari tiga desa menghasilkan satu hingga empat aksesi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai langkah awal ditemukannya pohon induk manggis bermutu. Hasil analisis kluster Kabupaten Morowali Utara pada jarak 0.7 terdapat empat kelompok pohon yang terdiri dari aksesi KA6, KA10, TA10, dan PA2. Indeks stomata paling rendah dari tiga desa yang diteliti terdapat pada aksesi KA7 dan indeks stomata tertinggi pada aksesi PA9. Kerapatan stomata tertinggi terdapat pada aksesi PA4 dan terendah pada aksesi TA6.
