Abstract

Junior high school of mathematics Olympiad is one of the routine activities every year in Indonesia. Analysis of the items on the Mathematical Olympiad test instrument has been carried out by several researchers using the concept of classical test theory. The theory has many weaknesses when compared to the concept Item Response theory (IRT). The purpose of this article is to describe the analysis of pre-Olympiad mathematics test instrument for junior high school students in Pacitan East Java based on the IRT. This analysis was carried out using a quantitative descriptive method. IRT-based item analysis was performed using R software with the package irtawsi. The results of the analysis with the package show that the instruments used fit to 2PL model. From the 15 items used, there were two items that did not fit, namely items 4 and 9. Furthermore, from the 13 test items that were fit, there were 3 items that did not meet the quality of the discriminant parameter used. These three items are 1, 6 and 13 items, these three items must be dropped because they can provide biased information when used to estimate students' math olympiad abilities. Based on this information it can be concluded that there are 10 test items that have quality that meets the qualification parameters of difficulty and discriminant with a standard error of 0.25.

Abstract

Regression analysis is a statistical technique frequently employed across diverse disciplines utilizing SPSS. Users lacking a robust basis in regression and infrequently utilizing SPSS will experience anxiety. Anxiety will be intensified by the interpretation of the analysis results. This work aims to create user-friendly statistical software for regression analysis, requiring little configuration and capable of interpreting analytical results. This study employed the SCLD development model. This paradigm comprises five stages: Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and System. The produced software is titled Simple Statistical Software series Regression Analysis, abbreviated as 3S-AR. The development yielded the 3S-AR program, which possesses functionality for regression analysis. The validation of development results was conducted by comparing the outcomes of 3S-AR analysis with those obtained from SPSS software. 3S-AR provides numerous advantages. Initially, it was user-friendly, and minimal configuration was required. A single analysis can present the outcomes of the regression analysis alongside all relevant assumptions. Secondly, the capability to offer an interpretation of the analytical findings. Third, if an analysis is incomplete, it can offer recommendations on the user's next steps. Fourth, it is complimentary. The development outcomes can facilitate users in conducting regression analysis with ease, particularly for individuals lacking a robust statistical background and proficiency in regression analysis tools.

Abstract

The scoring of multiple choice test items with the conventional model causes disparities in the interpretation of the scoring results. This causes unfair scoring, because the scoring does not pay attention to the characteristics of the items attached to the test. To overcome this problem, the purpose of writing this article is to apply the IRT model to make scoring more fair, so that multiple choice tests are able to provide a more precise and objective interpretation of scores. The multiple choice test used in this study is a math test on Algebra content of 15 items. The test was piloted on 65 grade 8 junior high school students. This data was used to calibrate test items using IRT. Model fit is determined by the M2 method. The instrument is compatible with the Rasch, 2PL and 3PL models, but only the Rasch and 2PL models used in this article. The number of items that fit in both models is the same as the number of multiple choice test items. Furthermore, the item parameters are used as the basis for scoring. The comparison results show that the IRT model is able to provide a more objective and precise scoring, based on the characteristics possessed by the test items. Model 2 PL is able to provide the most fair scoring than the Rasch and conventional models. The characteristics of the discriminant parameters in the 2PL model make it possible to distinguish students' abilities. especially for students who have the same number of correct answers, but the pattern of answers is different

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is one of the components that is of concern to the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM). This policy is an effort by the Ministry of Education and Culture to overcome the low literacy skills of students, and the faktors that cause it. Multistage Adaptive Test (MSAT) is used as an assessment method in AKM. The MSAT was developed with the IRT concept. The purpose of this article is to apply Item Respons Theory (IRT) to calibrate mathematical literacy instrumens and utilize the calibration result item parameters to estimate scores for mathematical literacy skills. Many items in the instrumen used are 15 multiple choice items. Respondents were used as many as 66 grade 8 junior high school students. After going through the construct validation process using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), 2 items did not meet, because they had a low loading factor, and 13 items were used for the calibration process. The grain calibration and scoring processes were carried out using the R package Mirt program. The calibration results show that the instrument matches the Rasch model. All assumptions of unidimensional IRT are proven to be met, so there is no violation in estimating item parameters. The item parameter is the level of difficulty where there is one item that does not fit, namely item 3. The intersection of the information function and the standard error shows that the instrument will provide accurate information if it is used by students with abilities of -2.965 to 1.085. The resulting item parameters can be used to estimate the algebra content math literacy score.

Abstract

The complexity of the IRT analysis makes it difficult to perform manually, therefore requiring easy-to-use software. While many software options exist for IRT analysis, the high cost of paid software can make it inaccessible for many students and lecturers in Indonesia. While the mirt package provides a complete, free option for IRT analysis, it requires proficiency in the R programming language to use. This study aims to develop an R package for IRT analysis, equipped with a user-friendly interface based on the mirt package, designed to be easy to use for beginners in IRT analysis. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model is used for development, which includes five stages: Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and System. The resulting package is named irtawsi and includes functionality comparable to paid software. This package can calibrate both test and non-test instruments using various IRT models, such as the Rasch, 2PL, 3PL, 4PL, GRM, PCM, and GPCM model. The irtawsi package functionality includes (1) an easy-to-use user interface, (2) automatic interpretation of analysis results, (3) a guide for IRT analysis, (4) recommendations when assumptions are not met, (5) an HTML report format for analysis results,(6) support for two languages (Indonesian and English), (7) it’s free, and (8) can be installed on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
