Abstract

Abstract. Bangkok papaya (Carica papaya L.) seeds contain flavonoid compounds that are thought to have antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the total flavonoid content and determine the antioxidant activity of 96% ethanol extract of Bangkok papaya seeds. The extraction of Bangkok papaya seeds was done using the maceration method. Determination of total flavonoid content was done by colorimetric method using AlCl3 reagent with quercetin comparator and antioxidant activity testing was done by DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method using vitamin C comparator. The results showed that the total flavonoid content was 192,80 mgQE/gr extract and the IC50 value of 96% ethanol extract of papaya seeds (Carica papaya L.) Bangkok variety was 2.374,79 ppm which is included in the category of very weak antioxidant activity. Abstrak. Biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.) varietas Bangkok mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang diduga memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kadar flavonoid total dan mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol 96% biji pepaya varietas Bangkok. Ekstraksi biji pepaya varietas Bangkok dilakukan dengan metode maserasi. Penetapan kadar flavonoid total dilakukan dengan metode kolorimetri menggunakan pereaksi AlCl3 dengan pembanding kuersetin dan pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazil) menggunakan pembanding vitamin C. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan kadar flavonoid total sebesar 192,80 mgQE/gr ekstrak dan nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol 96% biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.) varietas Bangkok sebesar 2.374,79 ppm yang termasuk dalam kategori aktivitas antioksidan sangat lemah.

Abstract

Abstract. Noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) is one of the plants used by ancient to prevent various diseases such as diabetes mellitus. The alkaloid compound group in noni fruit is known to be able to provide activity to reduce blood sugar levels so that it can prevent diabetes mellitus. This study aims to determine the total alkaloid content and the inhibition of α-amylase enzyme in noni fruit extracts on maceration method (EBMM) and reflux method (EBMR). Total alkaloid content of noni fruit extracts was measured using BCG (Bromocresol Green) method. The activity of reduce blood sugar levels was measured by inhibition α-amylase enzyme. The results showed that total alkaloid content in EBMM was 3,8271 mg RE/g, while in EBMR it was 3,6931 mg RE/g. The α-amylase enzyme inhibition of noni fruit extract was expressed based on IC50 value, The EBMM showing an IC50 value of 488.5 µg/mL and EBMR showing an IC50 value of 527.6 µg/mL. Based on this analysis, it was showed that there was no significant between EBMM and EBMR on total alkaloid content or inhibition of α-amylase enzyme. Abstrak. Buah mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang digunakan masyarakat untuk mencegah berbagai penyakit salah satunya ialah diabetes mellitus. Golongan senyawa alkaloid pada buah mengkudu diketahui mampu memberikan aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah sehingga dapat mencegah penyakit diabetes mellitus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar alkaloid total dan aktivitas penghambatan enzim α-amilase secara in-vitro pada ekstrak buah mengkudu yang diesktraksi dengan metode maserasi (EBMM) dan metode refluks (EBMR). Pengujian kadar alkaloid total pada ekstrak buah mengkudu dilakukan berdasarkan metode BCG (Bromocresol Green). Aktivitas penurunan kadar gula darah dilakukan dengan pengujian ekstrak buah mengkudu secara in-vitro berdasarkan metode penghambatan enzim α-amilase. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan kadar alkaloid total pada EBMM sebesar 3,8271 mg RE/g dan kadar alkaloid total pada EBMR sebesar 3,6931 mg RE/g. Aktivitas penghambatan enzim α-amilase ekstrak buah mengkudu dinyatakan berdasarkan nilai IC50, Pada EBMM diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 488,5 µg/mL dan pada EBMR diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 527,6 µg/mL. Berdasarkan analisa tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada tidak ada pengaruh signifikan antara EBMM dan EBMR terhadap kadar alkaloid total maupun aktivitas penghambatan enzim α-amilase.

Abstract

Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is a commercial plant that often used for making cigarettes. In 2012, the government issued regulations for the diversification of tobacco products besides cigarettes. Some of these diversified tobacco products include organic pesticides, anesthetics, cosmetic ingredients, and biochar as an alternative to coal. Therefore, in order to further to diversification of tobacco product, this study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity from n-hexane extract from leaves using the Soxhlet extraction method. Antioxidant activity was assessed by the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method, while the total phenolic content was determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu method that allowed quantification of phenolic compounds in the extract, which possesses the role of antioxidant. The IC50 value obtained from the antioxidant activity assay of the n-hexane extract of tobacco leaves was 426.042 μg/mL, classified as very weak. Meanwhile, the total phenolic content was 51.93 mg GAE/g. These results suggest that the high total phenol content may have other potential activities that can be tested, such as antibacterial activity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Pandeglang is recorded as the district with the highest poverty rate in Banten Province until 2023. This is in contrast to the potential of the resources owned by the region. The superior plantation commodity in the form of coconut is one of the best and most abundant commodities in Banten Province. The problem found in Cilentung Village, Pulosari District, Pandeglang Regency is that people sell coconuts in bulk to the city, then the coconut waste is returned to the village, causing environmental pollution and no innovation in diversification of coconut waste derivative products. The purpose of PkM is to train the community in making Liquid Smoke from coconut waste to support the economic independence of the people of Cilentung Village, Pandeglang Regency. The methods used to answer this problem are socialization of liquid smoke waste into Liquid Smoke, application of pyrolysis technology and coconut waste shredding machines, training in Making Liquid Smoke from Coconut Waste, mentoring and evaluation of activities.
