Abstract

Gout arthritis pain is caused by a buildup of excess uric acid levels in the joints. Non-pharmacological interventions that can be applied are a combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil steam aromatherapy. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil vapor therapy on the intensity of Gout Arthritis pain. The research design uses Pre-Experimental (One group pre-post test design). The sample size is 24 respondents using purposive sampling. The results showed that before the intervention, almost all respondents (87.5%) had moderate criteria for Gout Arthritis pain intensity. Then after the intervention, the intensity of Gout Arthritis pain in the majority of respondents (54.2%) was in the mild criteria. Analysis with the Wilcoxon test (p-value 0.001 <α 0.05) showed that the combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil steam aromatherapy had an effect on the intensity of gout arthritis pain. The combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil vapor therapy can reduce the pain of Gout Arthritis patients due to increased feelings of relaxation and decreased muscle tension and vascular vasodilation due to the release of endorphins. It is recommended that gout sufferers do this non-pharmacological therapy to reduce pain levels.

Abstract

Abstract Epistaxis is one of the emergencies in the field of ENT (ear nose throat), that is most often found in the community, including in the school environment. Students need to know the initial management of epistaxis so they can handle it well. The aim of this service activity is to provide management education for the initial treatment of epistaxis through simulation. The method for implementing this activity is through education and simulation involving 25 students who are members of the PMR SMK Cahnda Bhirawa Pare. The service activities were carried out in 3 sessions, namely: counseling about epistaxis, counseling on how to provide first aid for epistaxis and a simulation of how to provide first aid to individuals experiencing epistaxis. The result of this community service activity was that there was an increase in students' knowledge and ability in providing first aid to individuals experiencing epistaxis, namely from almost all (44%) in the poor category (before the activity) to almost all (92%) in the good category. Education using a simulation approach can increase students' understanding of first aid management for epistaxis cases so they are able to provide first aid appropriately. The education method using a simulation approach can be used as a medium for conveying information in the management of initial treatment of epistaxis in students who are in the adolescent group. Abstract

The nutritional status based on the weight of toddlers in Indonesia is still a health issue. Malnutrition-related problems can lead to underweight in toddlers, hindering their growth and development. This is influenced by socioeconomic status, lack of maternal knowledge about proper toddler feeding. The government has implemented a Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) using local food to address this nutritional issue, but there is no data on its effectiveness yet. The aim of this research is to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the PMT program using local food on the weight of toddlers. The study used a comparative descriptive method with a retrospective approach. Sampling was done using total sampling technique with 23 respondents. Data collection technique involved documentation of the PMT program evaluation conducted in March - April 2023. Statistical analysis was done using Paired T Test (<0.05). The research found that before receiving the PMT program, respondents had an average weight of 10.08 kg. After the PMT program, the weight increased to 10.67 kg. The provision of the PMT program using local food effectively increased the weight of toddlers. (P value 0.008 < 0.05). This program can increase calorie intake in toddlers. It is hoped that in the future, parents can independently implement the PMT program to improve the weight of toddlers. Keyword : Nutritional status, Weight, Supplementary feeding program.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a common complaint in farmers due to agricultural work such as bending, standing, squatting, lifting and carrying loads, and the back as the main support. These activities have a high level of tension and involve many repetitive movements causing the spinal muscles to be continuously overloaded resulting in low back pain. The aim of this study was to determine the level of low back pain in farmers in the Ringinsari Kandat Village farmer group, Kediri. This study used a descriptive design. The population in this study were 60 members of the farmer group with a purposive sampling technique, a sample of 18 respondents was obtained. Data collection used a questionnaire sheet, data analysis used a percentage. The results of the study showed that most of the respondents (55.6%) had low back pain on a scale of 5, with an average value of 4.44. Agricultural work has a high level of tension and involves many repetitive movements. This causes the spinal muscles to be overloaded due to work that is done continuously without time to relax, resulting in pain in the farmers' lower backs. Respondents are advised to minimize continuous static loads and pay attention to ergonomics at work to prevent and reduce the level of Low Back Pain.
