Abstract

This study pertains to the utilization of solar energy as a sustainable energy source, which exhibits considerable promise in Indonesia. The average daily solar radiation intensity in Indonesia is estimated to be approximately 4.8 kWh/m2. Nevertheless, the practical implementation of the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) presents several problems, including the need to improve the output power efficiency of the solar panels. This aspect offers the potential for significant enhancement. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of solar modules when equipped with reflectors, through a comparative analysis. In order to enhance the output power of the solar module, it is vital to augment the solar radiation received by this module. Based on the data acquired, it can be observed that the utilization of reflectors within the time frame of 11.00-12.00 WIT yields the maximum efficiency value.

Abstract

. Electrical energy is a primary need for every human being. Supercapacitors are sophisticated electrical energy storage devices that combine the advantages of conventional batteries and capacitors so that they have the ability to store energy better. The use of electrode materials is one of the factors that affect the effectiveness of supercapacitors, electrode materials can be made from polymeric materials, metal oxides, and porous materials such as activated carbon. Activated carbon is made through two main stages, namely the carbonization and activation stages. Bamboo charcoal is a solid product that uses bamboo raw materials through a carbonization process under high temperatures (high temperature charcoal). This research is a research using experimental method. From the research results, carbonized bamboo charcoal at temperatures of 300˚C, 350˚C, 400˚C, 450˚C and 500˚C has a higher electrical conductivity value as the carbonization temperature increases. So it can be concluded that the temperature in the carbonization process affects the electrical conductivity of bamboo charcoal.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the results of exploratory learning about objects in the form of energy concepts on Para Island. The main research activities are exploring objects (Sun, ocean currents, sea waves, and wind), as well as scientific concepts and processes using the Thematic Exploration Learning in Democratic Interaction (HOTL-DI) type A model. Research at Tatoereng State Middle School Classes VII-VIII from June to July 2021. Exploration activities were carried out in three stages. The first stage is material exploration (objects, concepts, and scientific processes), carried out by the research team facilitated by the Pamong Teacher. The second stage is learning activities regarding energy concepts by class VII-VIII students. The results of the phase II assessment are used as a reference for going directly to the field to conduct exploration. Phase III exploration activities for target groups facilitated by mentors and researchers. The research results showed that at the beginning of the activity, all students experienced difficulties, but later, they developed the initiative to carry out their exploration. The exploration results show the development of the concept in the exploration step. Most students experienced improvement in identifying concepts and constructing a comprehensive network of energy concepts.

Abstract

Activated charcoal can be produced from carbon-containing materials or from activated charcoal to get a wider surface area. Coconut coir is a part of coconut waste that is rarely forgiven. The researcher discussed the functional groups of activated charcoal from coconut coir with 10 ml of KOH activator. The purpose of this study was to determine the active charcoal content contained in coconut coir. The method used is the pyrolysis method in which combustion occurs in a furnace without oxygen at a temperature of 4000C. The analysis carried out by the researchers included a wave number spectrum analysis using the FTIR tool for coconut coir activated carbon. The identification results using the FTIR spectrophotometer showed that the activated charcoal in this study contained functional groups O-H, -O-, C-O, C=C, C-H

Abstract

The use of project-based learning model in learning can improve the quality of learning and students' learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine how effective the project-based learning model is on learning outcomes.  The method used in this research is quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. This research instrument is in the form of a student learning outcomes test in the form of descriptions, from the test results the n-gain test is carried out. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes with an average pretest score of 45.73 and an average posttest score of 82.08. The result of the n-gain analysis is 0.57 which shows a moderate effectiveness category. Therefore, learning evaluation courses using project-based learning models is effective on student learning outcomes

Abstract

In recent years, attention to renewable energy has increased, especially in electrical energy. One of the emerging technologies in supporting electrical energy storage is supercapacitors. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of KOH solution on the current and voltage characteristics produced by supercapacitor electrodes made from activated carbon from kepok banana peel waste (Musa Paradisiaca L). By using dehydration method 80°C, carbonization at 400°C, chemical activation with 5M, 6M, and 7M KOH solution, and physical activation at 750°C. The results showed that the concentration of KOH activator from 5M, 6M, to 7M increased the electric voltage to 0.641 V, 1.078 V, and 1.448 V and electric current to 10.3 mA, 11.6 mA, and 28.5 mA, respectively. However, the density and conductivity values showed different patterns, with density values of 1.2446 A/

Abstract

Indonesia is the country with the most mountains. The number of volcanoes in Indonesia is around 500. Of these, 129 are active volcanoes. This study aims to map the distribution of temperature and determine the direction of surface heat flow of Ruang Volcano before an eruption. This research was conducted by temporally analyzing the temperature distribution in Ruang Volcano to predict the direction of geological structure openings in the area using remote sensing methods. The analysis was carried out temporally using thermal infrared band 10 image data to determine the direction of heat flow according to the resulting distribution map. The analysis results show that the surface temperature distribution map of Ruang Volcano before the eruptions in 2015, 2019, and 2024 shows a similar pattern. Based on the surface temperature distribution map of Ruang Volcano, the direction of flow before the eruption comes from the northeast.

Abstract

The utilization of Roya wood branches (RWB) as raw material for activated charcoal production has not yet been optimized in North Sulawesi, specifically in Wulauan Village, North Tondano District. This study aims to present the results of the analysis of the physical and chemical properties, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) of RWB-based activated charcoal. The production of activated charcoal was conducted in three stages: sample preparation, pyrolysis of RWB at a temperature of 365°C for approximately 3 hours, and activation of RWB charcoal using phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄) at concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3% for 24 hours. The analysis of physical and chemical properties of both non-activated and H₃PO₄-activated RWB activated charcoal showed that the best quality was obtained at a 3% activator concentration, with a moisture content of 0.1683%, ash content of 2.3321%, volatile matter content (VMC) of 0.9429%, fixed carbon (FC) content of 96.7250%, and iodine adsorption capacity (IAC) of 10,535 mg/g, all of which meet the SNI 06-3037-1995 for activated charcoal. XRD analysis showed that non-activated RWB charcoal had three broad diffraction peaks in the ranges of 9–14°, 20–25°, and 35–50°, along with one sharp peak in the range of 25–30°. After activation with H₃PO₄, only three broad diffraction peaks were observed at 9–14°, 20–25°, and 35–50° for all three H₃PO₄ concentration variations.TEM analysis indicated that non-activated RWB charcoal had particle sizes ranging from 20–33 nm, while after activation with 1% H₃PO₄, the particle sizes ranged from 41–51 nm..
