Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship and impact of these variables on HDI, as well as provide policy recommendations that can improve the quality of human development in the Central Java Province area. This study uses a quantitative research approach methodology, which is a technique to provide statistical research and programs as answers to data-related research questions. This study examines the influence of poverty, unemployment, and regional income as intervening variables on the Human Development Index in East Java Province in 2010-2019. Multiple linear regression analysis is used to evaluate the data collected using intervening variables. The results show that economic growth and government expenditure are able to increase HDI in East Java Province because many sectors and facilities are prepared by the government to support the quality of life of its people, but unlike the two variables above, unemployment does not have a significant influence on the Human Development Index.

Abstract

Unemployment is one of the problems that has not been resolved until now. Bangkalan Regency is part of the Province of East Java, which is on the western tip of Madura Island and still has a high unemployment rate. This study aims to determine the effect of Total Population, Human Development Index and Minimum Wage on Unemployment in Bangkalan Regency 2005-2019. This study uses secondary data from 2015-2019 with multiple linear regression analysis using the SPSS program. By knowing this situation, it is hoped that the regional government of Bankala Regency will be able to open new jobs to reduce the existing unemployment rate. Based on the results of this study, it shows that the Total Population and Human Development Index variables show a negative direction and have a significant effect on the unemployment variable. Meanwhile, the Minimum Wage variable shows a positive direction and has a significant effect. Together, the three independent variables have an effect on the unemployment variable in Bangkalan Regency in 2005-2019

Abstract

In 2023, the poverty rate in East Java Province is relatively high, reaching 10.35 percent, making it in third position as the poorest area on the island of Java. The highest contributors to poverty in this province consist of Sampang Regency, Bangkalan Regency, Sumenep Regency, and Probolinggo Regency. The high poverty rate makes the problem of poverty one of the priorities in every development. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the factors that affect poverty such as in the study using the variables of the Open Unemployment Rate, Minimum Wage, and the amount of government expenditure in providing social assistance. This study is a quantitative research using secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). In the analysis, linear regression of panel data using Eviews 10 and Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was used as the best model chosen. Based on the tests that have been carried out, using a significance level of 5%, it was found that the variable of the Open Unemployment Rate did not have a significant effect on the positive correlation with the Poverty Level. The Minimum Wage variable has a significant effect with a negative correlation with the Poverty Level. And the variable of Social Assistance Expenditure has a significant effect with a positive correlation with the Poverty Level.

The thing that distinguishes this research from previous research is the object of research and the comparison between research objects. The multiple linear regression analysis method chosen by the author as a research method. This study found that partially, in Surabaya City, only the variable of women's income contribution has a significant negative effect on the poverty rate. Meanwhile, GDI and female labor force participation rate did not have a significant effect. In Gresik district, partially, only GDI has a significant negative effect on the poverty rate. Abstract

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Sustainable Development is a global and national commitment to improve people's welfare, which includes 17 goals until 2030. The main goal emphasized by the SDGs is "No Poverty" or "eliminate poverty". Poverty is closely related to vulnerability. Vulnerability itself is a condition that arises due to the inability to meet needs so that it can cause the emergence of new social problems in life, so the study of poverty is often referred to as an "eternal study" that is ongoing and needs to find a solution. The aim of this research is to see how much influence the Human Development Index and Open Unemployment Rate have on the number of poor people in Lamongan Regency. This research uses time series data which is then analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this research show that the Human Development Index (HDI) has asignificant influence on the number of poor people in Lamongan Regency. Meanwhile, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) has no significant effect on the number of poor people in Lamongan Regency.
