Abstract

This study developed and evaluated The Andalus educational board game to enhance Grade 6 students' interest in learning Islamic History, specifically the Umayyad dynasty in Andalusia. Using the ADDIE instructional design model, the study systematically conducted analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The analysis phase identified students' low affective engagement and motivation toward Islamic History learning through teacher interviews and classroom observations. The design phase integrated historically accurate content with age-appropriate game mechanics, while the development phase refined the prototype through expert validation focusing on content accuracy (94.6%) and media quality (97.6%). Implementation involved small-scale (n=10) and large-scale (n=30) classroom trials to examine instructional feasibility and effectiveness. Student response questionnaires yielded high effectiveness scores of 91.0% and 92.06% respectively, while teacher evaluation reached 86.15%. Classroom observations revealed unexpected cognitive outcomes, including spontaneous counterfactual reasoning and peer-mediated learning. The findings demonstrate that The Andalus board game represents a valid and effective instructional medium that enhances students' learning interest through collaborative gameplay, cultural engagement, and interactive historical exploration. The study contributes to game-based learning theory by demonstrating the pedagogical viability of analogue board games in Islamic History education, offering teachers a culturally relevant, low-cost instructional tool for primary education contexts.

Abstract

Religious character development has become an important concern in contemporary education, particularly in response to moral challenges and the need to strengthen students’ values beyond academic achievement. Schools are therefore required to implement innovative educational programs that facilitate the internalization of religious values through meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Dhamysoga Character Camp (DCC) co-curricular program and its role in fostering students’ religious character at State Senior High School 5 Malang. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that DCC is implemented through systematic planning, active student involvement, community-based activities, religious practices, and reflective sessions. The program integrates experiential learning through three interconnected components: active student participation, social interaction and community service, and reflective processes. These components enable students to internalize religious values through direct experience, meaningful social engagement, and spiritual reflection. As a result, DCC contributes to the development of students’ religious character by fostering religious awareness, responsible behavior, empathy, and social responsibility in a conscious and sustainable manner. The study concludes that DCC represents an experiential learning-based model of religious character education that effectively integrates personal, social, and spiritual dimensions within a co-curricular setting.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, science is dominated by the West, while the contribution of Muslims is often considered minimal. SMA Trensains Tebuireng 2 Jombang integrates the Qur’an and science into the curriculum to improve students’ religiosity and intellectual intelligence. This study aims to examine the verses of the Qur’an, the process, and the science integration model to enhance graduates’ quality. With a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show integration based on verses such as QS. Al-Syu’ara: 4, QS. Al-Rum: 25, and QS. Al-Insan: 17, which discusses creation and natural phenomena. The process involves a thematic curriculum, an approach to scientific interpretation, and discussion-based learning and presentations. Supporting factors include laboratories, libraries, and institutional support, although constrained by limited human resources and media. This integration model is efficacious in improving intellectual intelligence and religiosity, producing superior graduates based on Islamic values.

Abstract

Student discipline remains one of the major challenges in Islamic education because it requires not only compliance with school regulations but also the internalization of religious values that encourage self-awareness and consistency in behavior. Although various religious habituation programs have been implemented in Islamic educational institutions, limited studies have explained the pedagogical mechanism through which spiritual practices cultivate students' disciplinary character. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing the value of istiqomah through the regular recitation of Ratib Al-Haddad in shaping student discipline at MA Hidayatul Mubtadi'in Tasikmadu. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with the principal, religious activity coordinator, Islamic education teachers, and students, as well as document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while credibility was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, member checking, and prolonged engagement. The findings reveal that the internalization of istiqomah occurs through three interconnected stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value transinternalization. The regular recitation of Ratib Al-Haddad, supported by teacher role modeling, religious habituation, and continuous guidance, transforms discipline from external compliance into students' internal spiritual awareness. This study contributes to Islamic educational scholarship by explaining the pedagogical mechanism through which Ratib Al-Haddad functions as a medium for internalizing Islamic values and fostering sustainable disciplinary character. The findings also provide a conceptual reference for developing spirituality-based character education programs in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The prevalence of bullying in educational settings indicates that religious education has not yet fully succeeded in fostering empathetic and humanistic social relationships among students. This situation underscores the importance of an educational model that focuses not only on academic achievement and mastery of religious knowledge but also on strengthening character development and positive social interactions within the school environment. This study aims to describe the design, implementation, and model of the Love-Based Curriculum in Akidah Akhlak instruction to prevent bullying behavior at MTsN 3 Malang. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design involving the school principal, Akidah Akhlak teachers, the vice principal for curriculum, guidance counselors, and students as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using a descriptive-interpretive approach. The results indicate that the Love-Based Curriculum is built through the integration of values such as compassion, empathy, respect for others, religious practices, teacher role modeling, and a humanistic school culture to support positive social interactions among students. The implementation of this model contributes to the development of moral awareness, harmonious interpersonal relationships, and the creation of a safer and more comfortable school environment, thereby helping to prevent bullying behavior. This study contributes to the development of humanistic and character-based Islamic education by emphasizing the importance of social relationships and emotional experiences in the educational process. These findings affirm that education grounded in the values of love and a humanistic approach can serve as an effective preventive strategy in reducing bullying behavior in school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) in transforming multicultural pedagogical competencies at Thursina International Islamic Boarding School in Malang, Indonesia. It explores how aligning institutional vision, organisational culture, and human resources fosters multicultural and transformative pedagogy within an Islamic educational institution. This study employs a qualitative approach using a single-case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, and pupils. The validity of the data was strengthened through triangulation of sources and methods. The findings of this study indicate that SHRM is systematically implemented through diversity-based recruitment, continuous professional development, an organisational learning culture, and the integration of religious, caring, open-minded, and inspiring values into pedagogical practices and institutional culture. Educators are positioned as multicultural mentors who integrate professionalism, spirituality, and cross-cultural sensitivity into the learning process. This study has produced the Prophetic Strategic Human Resource Management (P-SHRM) model, which integrates modern SHRM with Islamic prophetic values such as sincerity, trustworthiness, zeal, and mercy to all creation. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the development of the SHRM literature in multicultural Islamic education by positioning human resource management not merely as a strategy for enhancing organisational performance but as a mechanism for ethical, spiritual, and multicultural transformation within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning of the Love-Based Curriculum (LBC) in Aqidah Akhlak learning to strengthen students' religious character at MAN 1 Tulungagung, Indonesia. A qualitative field research design was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of curriculum planning and implementation. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving the principal, vice principal for curriculum affairs, Aqidah Akhlak teachers, and students. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with continuous verification through triangulation. The findings reveal that the Love-Based Curriculum is systematically planned through the establishment of a curriculum core team, formulation of short-, medium-, and long-term programs, curriculum socialization and workshops, madrasah context analysis, development of teaching resources, and integration of the Panca Cinta values into curricular and extracurricular activities. The integration of the Merdeka Curriculum with the Love-Based Curriculum strengthens Aqidah Akhlak learning by fostering compassion, empathy, tolerance, environmental responsibility, and spiritual awareness. The principal contribution of this study is the identification of madrasah context analysis as an essential stage of curriculum planning that bridges institutional characteristics, students' needs, and curriculum implementation. This finding extends existing curriculum management models by positioning contextual analysis as a strategic planning component. The proposed framework provides a practical reference for Islamic educational institutions seeking to implement value-based curricula that promote holistic character development, sustainable educational quality, and transformative learning practices.
