Abstract

Decentralization has been implemented for eight years. However, corruption has not been lessened yet within the decentralization era. Bad regulations and investment climate are suspected to be a cause of the situations. Good regulation and investment climate appear if the interjurisdictional competitions exist. The incentive for competition is the equality of economic endowment among regions, or each region has their own tradeable "technology" that comparable to others. Inequality in "technology" implies that the region with rich "technology" is more attractive eventhough there are bad regulation and the investment climate. In contrary, in region with less "technology", corruption will appear because of weak control of the society to the bureaucracy. The strong assumption of this paper is short memories of voters. This paper attempts to estimate and to model the relation between economic variable and corruption. The estimation uses the cross section data among kabupaten/kota in Indonesia in 2004. The estimation shows that economic endowment variable positively and significant correlated to the investment level. On the other hand, the effect of corruption is statistically insignificant in explaining the investment level. The subsequent part of this paper attempts to estimate and to model how the heterogeneity or inequality in "technology" affects the existence of corruption in Indonesia. The OLS regression of heterogeneity of domestic product (PDRB) against corruption index shows that the heterogeneity positively correlated with corruption level.

Abstract

The problem of poverty has a very urgent nature and has no clear boundaries. This is due not only to its continued upward trend, but also to its impact that transcends the economic sphere, encompasses social aspects and even threatens political stability within the country. Most countries with large populations also tend to have higher poverty rates compared to countries with smaller populations. Likewise, with the level of education and TPAK where inmany communities with low economies, opportunities to get adequate education, ranging from elementary to higher, are often limited, furthermore, if TPAK increases this can have a positive impact on economic growth. This study uses time series data with variables of population growth, education level, , TPAK, and poverty rate in the last 26 years, namely 1996-2021 until the number of observations is 26 observation points. Based on the results of data processing and testing simultaneously shows that population growth, education rate, and labor force participation rate (TPAK) affect simultaneously in Papua Province. Population growth has a negative and significant effect on poverty. The level of education, that is, the average length of schooling, has a negative and insignificant effect on poverty. The labor force participation rate (TPAK) has a negative and significant effect on poverty. keyword: Population Growth, Education Level, TPAK, Poverty

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) on village development in Bali Province. In analyzing village development, the Independent Village Index (IDM) is used with the main variable namely the existence of PMI, supported by control variables in the form of electricity, fuel energy, landfills, latrines, feces final disposal sites, toilets, sources of drinking water, and sources of toilet water. Research data was obtained from PODES 2018, with a total of 777 observations. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the STATA application. From the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the existence of villagers working as PMI had not been able to have a significant influence on village development in the Province of Bali. This is reflected in the results of data analysis on the developing village index where the research results show that there is still inequality between villages which causes disparities in accessing resources, especially clean water, availability of disposal sites, and from the use of electricity and fuel energy for cooking. keyword: Household Analysis, Regional Economic Activity, Trade and Labor Market Interactions JEL classification: R2, R11, F16

Abstract

A company cannot grow without high employee performance. Performance refers to actual performance, work achievements, or tangible accomplishments made by employees, which comes from the term job performance. One way to measure employee competence is by looking at their work performance. The success of an organization is directly proportional to the quality of its human resources. Conversely, poor human resource performance can lead to poor organizational performance. Sales realization data shows that most months in 2024 at PT Bali Chocolate Sanur Denpasar did not meet expectations, indicating a decline in employee performance. Therefore, a reference, such as a benchmark or determinant, is needed to assess employee performance. At PT Bali Chocolate Sanur Denpasar, we hope to find out how servant leadership, work aptitude, and work discipline affect productivity. A quantitative approach was used for this topic. Using a census sampling technique, the total number of employees at PT. Bali Chocolate Sanur, which is 55 people, became the population. Questionnaires, interviews, and observations were the tools used to collect data. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression. Based on the results of the study, among other things: Servant leadership, work aptitude, and work discipline will have a positive and substantial impact on company profits. Leadership quality, work ability, and work discipline are three areas that can always be improved by the management of PT. Bali Chocolate Sanur Denpasar to improve employee performance.

Abstract

Abstract

Clean water availability is a fundamental human need that must be sustainably fulfilled. Bali Province, as a tourist destination, faces increasing clean water demand that is not matched by adequate distribution capabilities. This study aims to analyze the market structure, supplier behavior, and market performance of clean water providers in Bali using the Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) paradigm. A quantitative method was applied through market concentration measurement using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), supported by qualitative analysis to explore supplier behavior. Secondary data were sourced from Village Potential Survey (PODES) and the Central Statistics Agency. The results indicate that public sector dominance and high market concentration prevail across Bali. Supplier behavior shows limited responsiveness to local needs, while market performance is characterized by disparities in clean water access. Kernel regression indicates a negative relationship between market concentration and service coverage equity. This study suggests enhancing service diversification, increasing private and community sector involvement, and designing clean water management policies based on local needs.
