Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' concept comprehension ability by applying CLIS (Children Learning In Science) learning models integrated ethnoscience. This study employed a quasi experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The data used include pretest and posttest score. The data were analyzed using the one-sample test for the average test, proportion test (Z test) to calculate the classical completeness and N-gain calculation. The result revealed that students who fulfill the minimum standard criteria (KKM) were 30 students with the classical completeness 93.75%. The proportion completeness of concept comprehension ability passed over 75%. The improvement of concept comprehension ability was 0.4 and categorized as medium. Each indicators of concept comprehension increased sequentially that is translating 86.3%, exemplifying 91%, classifying 77.5%, summarizing 76.3%, predicting 88.8% and explaining 73.8%. The improvement of indicator concept comprehension generally in the very good category. Based on the result obtained, it can be concluded that the application of CLIS learning models integrated ethnoscience can improve students’ concept comprehension.

Abstract

This study has purpose to determine the difference of the improvement of concept understanding in the problem based learning model assisted with flash multimedia with direct instruction model. The research method used in this study was quantitative of research using pretest-posttest design. This study was conducted at an Elementary School in Brebes Regency in science learning of single and mixed substances in grade V. The sample in this study were 38 students taken for experimental class and 32 students for control class. The data collection techniques used were observation and test. The data analysis techniques used to gain the significant difference was t-test. The results of this study indicated that the ability of concepts understanding of students in the problem based learning model assisted with flash multimedia is better than that of the direct instruction learning model. The independent sample t-test with a significance of 0.015 < 0.05. The average value obtained by the experimental class with a score of 79.95 and the average value of the control class with a score of 75. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of problem based learning model assisted with flash multimedia can improve the ability of concepts understanding of students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze e-learning activities at SDIT Future Islamic School (FIS) Pekanbaru. The subject and sample of the research used science teacher class VI and students of SDIT FIS Pekanbaru class VI A and B totaling 30 people. The study is a qualitative research with descriptive approach. The technique used in this study is observation and interviews, while the research instrument used field notes in the form of observations of e-learning activities and free-tied interview sheets. The data of e-learning activities provide from observations were student activities, such as writing, speaking, listening, observing, motoric skills, and mental activities such as activity that requires knowledge construction asking students to interpret, analyze, synthesize, or evaluate information or ideas when answering practice questions. Student activities are series of implementation of e-learning that technology in education. The results of interviews and observations show that the implementation of e-learning model were two modes. They were by using blended models and asynchronous methods in the application of mixing conventional learning (meeting in class) by utilizing technology to display subject matter offline. The implementation of e-learning in this school utilizes computer technology, LCDs, and speakers as a tool to deliver teaching materials to students. The e-learning implementation carried out in the learning process, included use of technology to display learning material, learning information, and also the students work results. The hardware such as laptop, LCD, and loudspeakers used by teachers and students to display information related to decay and weathering topics in the form of videos and pictures on natural science subjects. E-learning activities provide benefits to students and teachers in understanding the concept of subject matter that is packaged by the teacher in an exciting and informative manner.

Abstract

Learning to write narrative text needs to use an effective learning model so that learning becomes easier. Problem-based learning (PBL) and direct learning (DL) are two learning models that both have advantages in practicing writing skills. Besides, the factors of parenting patterns were considered as to have an important role in developing vocabulary which is also important in presenting the narrative. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the PBL and DL models in learning to write narrative text, as well as the interaction between the effectiveness of the PBL and DL models with parenting pattern. This type of research was experimental research with a quasi-experimental method. The instrument used to measure the effectiveness of the PBL and DL models is a test (pretest and posttest) and questionnaire instrument was used to classify the parenting styles of students. The data analysis technique used were the t test and ANOVA test. The results of the t-test showed that there was a difference in the average writing skills of students' narrative text with the PBL model and the DL model based on the type of parenting pattern and there was an interaction between the effectiveness of learning to write narrative text using PBL and DL models with parenting pattern. PBL models are effectively used in democratic parenting and permissive parenting pattern, while the DL model is effective for authoritarian parenting pattern. It can be concluded that PBL and DL models are effective for learning to write narrative text for certain parenting pattern.
