Abstract

Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) serves as Indonesia's vocational high school system designed to produce work-ready graduates. However, SMK graduates consistently maintain the highest open unemployment rate among all education levels in Indonesia at 9.42% in 2024, significantly higher than Thailand's 0.59% for vocational graduates. This study utilized system dynamics methodology to analyze factors contributing to SMK graduate unemployment and simulate policy interventions to reduce unemployment rates by 2045. Through interviews with 11 stakeholders, literature review, and observations, 34 variables were identified in a Causal Loop Diagram and converted into a Stock Flow Diagram with 54 variables. Twenty-two scenarios were developed across four groups: GDP growth analysis, education budget allocation, budget distribution analysis, and SMK budget composition. Results indicate that maintaining GDP growth above 4.89% or allocating minimum 8.544% of GDP to education budget can eliminate SMK graduate unemployment by 2045. The most effective intervention is increasing student certification budget allocation, which can achieve zero unemployment by 2040. The study recommends implementing "Scenario 0 Unemployment" with 8.273% allocation for student certification while equally distributing remaining budget between partnership and infrastructure improvements.

Abstract

The steel industry, often regarded as the mother of industry, holds a pivotal role in fostering national economic independence and supporting vital infrastructure projects. In Indonesia, the development of the steel industry stands as a key indicator of industrial advancement. However, the landscape has evolved dramatically, with escalating competition not just from PT Krakatau Steel but also from numerous emerging competitors producing similar products. This dynamic situation demands an aggressive sales strategy to secure market dominance, especially given the challenges posed by both local and international competitors. Addressing this, PT Krakatau Steel faces the essential question of how to optimize steel sales, approaching or even matching the plant's installed capacity, amidst this competitive environment. The solution lies in proactive strategic planning, which involves a meticulous analysis of both external and internal factors. Recognizing the need for foresight, the company has employed scenario planning, envisioning potential futures for the steel industry. By considering variables like raw material prices and government policies, four scenarios emerged: Armageddon, The King, The King's Speech, and Cast Away. Each scenario prompts a specific set of strategies and actions. Moreover, the company has established early warning systems to discern which scenario might unfold, enabling timely and precise responses. This forward-thinking approach culminated in a comprehensive strategic plan designed to guide PT Krakatau Steel through the complexities and uncertainties of the business landscape over the next seven years.

Abstract

This research discusses the selection of welding robots in the PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor Manufacturing Plant. The existing situation is that PT SIM still uses manual welding, often resulting in product defects and inconsistent quality. To solve this problem and improve production quality, Suzuki is considering modernizing its welding line by replacing manual labor with a robot automation system. By using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a method for decision-making, this research evaluates alternatives based on multiple criteria such as financial aspects, operational efficiency, synchronization, and organizational readiness. A hierarchical model for criteria and sub-criteria is developed based on stakeholder interviews and a literature review. Pairwise comparison determines each weight of criteria, sub-criteria, and alternatives. Also, the consistency ratio (CR) was calculated to ascertain the reliability of the judgments. The other options, such as Yaskawa, Fanuc, and Nachi Fujikoshi, were evaluated against the criteria using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) in Microsoft Excel. The results for the weight of each criterion are Financial Aspect (22.9%), Operational Aspect (41.7%), Process Synchronization and Improvement (24.3%), and Organizational Readiness (11.1%). Yaskawa welding robot was the best alternative with the highest priority (54.97%), Fanuc (38.81%), and Nachi Fujikoshi (6.22%). AHP was an effective multicriteria decision-making method for industrial applications in this study. It explores the challenges and solutions specific to PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor while improving manufacturing efficiency and quality. Recommendations include providing comprehensive employee training programs so that the workforce affected by the change from manual to robot can still contribute to the company.

Abstract

This research aims to address the issue of vendor selection for the procurement of a gold crusher, a primary need for PT. Indotan Lombok Barat Bangkit (ILBB) in its transition from exploration to gold production. Choosing the right vendor is crucial as it directly impacts the sustainability of the company's business operations. The study employs the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to evaluate three vendor alternatives: Liming, Jinpeng, and Yifan, based on five main criteria: Financial, Delivery, After-sales, Machine, and Vendor Credibility, which were developed through a combination of literature reviews and interviews with ILBB decision-makers. The analysis results indicate that the Machine criterion is the top priority with a weight of 49.1%, particularly focusing on the sub-criterion of Machine Reliability. This reflects ILBB's emphasis on operational efficiency and production stability. Vendor Credibility ranks second with a weight of 23.65%, highlighting the importance of trust in the vendor's ability to meet the company's needs. The After Sales criterion ranks third, with the availability of spare parts sub-criterion being a major consideration to ensure operational continuity. The timeliness of the delivery sub-criterion within the Delivery criterion also plays a significant role, whereas the financial criterion is less prioritized. Liming emerges as the best choice with a priority weight of 52.15%, excelling in sub-criteria such as Machine Reliability, Machine Technology, and Manufacturing Standards, aligning with ILBB’s strategic and operational needs. This study demonstrates that AHP effectively supports multi-criteria decision-making processes, offering a replicable methodology applicable to other companies with similar challenges.
