Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media Facebook dan gaya belajar terhadap kemampuan menulis mahasiswa semester II Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah posttest only control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan menulis, rubrik penskoran analitik, dan instrumen gaya belajar. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik inferensial ANAVA dua jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan menulis antara mahasiswa yang diberi pembelajaran menggunakan media Facebook dan mahasiswa yang diberi pembelajaran tanpa menggunakan media Facebook, (2) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan menulis antara mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar field dependent dan mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar field independent. (3) terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran dengan gaya belajar terhadap kemampuan menulis mahasiswa. Kemampuan menulis mahasiswa yang diberi pembelajaran menggunakan media Facebook lebih baik dibandingkan mahasiswa yang tidak diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan media Facebook. Kemampuan menulis mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar field dependent lebih baik dibandingkan mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar field independent.. ABSTRACTThe jargon used by the crews in housekeeping and food and beverage service department in the cruise line was analyzed in this research. The jargon expressions in these departments have special meaning that confused the other people outside the group. The jargon used in this department. This research used descriptive qualitative research with the basic interpretative studies to understand the meaning of every jargons in the cruise line crews related to the crews working experiences interacted with the guest around them. The open questionnaire and the interview guide were used to collect the data from 4 subjects of the study working experiences in the cruise line. From two subjects that worked in the housekeeping department, there were 116 jargons expressions that were classified into four jargon forms. There were 24 jargons in a word form, 37 jargons in phrase form, 40 jargons in abbreviation form (initialism type), 10 jargons in abbreviation form (shortening type), and 5 jargons in acronym form. From two subjects that worked in the food and beverage service department there were 136 jargons expressions that were classified into four jargon forms. There were 27 jargons in word form, 77 jargons in phrase form, 19 jargons in abbreviation form (initialism type), 8 jargons in abbreviation form (shortening type), and 4 jargons in acronym form. Every meaning of the jargon expressions were suitable with the department condition and situation. There are four functions of jargon expressions. Those are able to provide a clear and unambiguous term, promoting their group solidarity and exclude as out-groupers, marking the group membership, and representing the product. This research can be used as a reference to know the jargon used in the cruise line hotel operational division.

ABSTRACTBecause of Covid 19 pandemic, learning is done in online mode by using various online learning platform. This study aims at investigating the effect of scaffolding technique on students’ writing competency in online learning. To run this research, 60 eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Sukasada in the academic year 2020/2021 were chosen as the samples. This research applied nonequivalent control group design in which there were two groups compared, namely: scaffolding technique and conventional technique. The data of writing competency were collected by using performance test which were then scored by using analytical scoring rubric. The collected data were then analyzed by using independent sample t test. This research shows that there is no significant effect of Scaffolding technique on students’ writing competency with probability value of 0.606 (p>0,05).Keywords: Scaffolding technique, writing competency, skills

This research aimed to analyze parental involvement programs in the teaching and learning process at Aura Sukma Insani Bilingual Kindergarten during the covid-19 pandemic and the problem faced by the teacher in implementing the parental involvement programs during learning from home because of the covid-19 pandemic at Aura Sukma Insani Bilingual Kindergarten. The parents' involvement programs were analyzed using six types of parental involvement framework proposed by Epstein et al. (2002). The present study used an embedded mixed method research design to analyze the school programs involving parents and the problem faced by the teacher in implementing the parental involvement programs. The data were collected using interview, questionnaire, observation, and document analysis. The result of the study showed that (1) there are seven parental involvement programs in Aura Sukma Insani Bilingual Kindergarten, namely; parents conference, parents' interview, final report, online learning, home schooling, virtual field trip, and eco-enzyme (2) there are three problems faced by teacher in implementing the parental involvement programs during the covid-19 pandemic, namely; the connection problems during the online learning, teachers, confusion in dial parents WhatsApp numbers to conduct online learning, and students' mood during online learning.

This study aimed at analyzing the types of code-switching and code-mixing that were used by the top 5 YouTubers in Indonesia. The design of this research was a descriptive qualitative study since it focused on a single case of the phenomenon of code-switching and code-mixing. Moreover, the data were collected through observing the YouTube videos by the top 5 YouTubers in Indonesia. It was found that there were 482 utterances categorized into code-switching and code-mixing. The type of code-switching used by Indonesian Youtubers included inter-sententially code-switching (98 utterances or 59.4%), intra-sententially code-switching (44 utterances or 26.7%), and emblematic code-switching (23 utterances or 13.9%). While the type of code-mixing included inter-sententially code-mixing (201 utterances or 63.4%) and intra-sententially code-mixing (116 utterances or 36.6%). The most frequently appearing type of code-switching in this study was inter-sententially code-switching. While the type of code-mixing was inter-sententially code-mixing. The result of this study can be the reference in the linguistics and communication field and as the supporting materials in English teaching and learning.

This research aimed at investigating the challenges encountered by the students when utilizing Undiksha Moodle E-learning in online learning of literature courses. The research used embedded mixed method case study with qualitative dominant in collecting the data. The research subjects were students of English Language Education (ELE) who learned Literature courses by using Undiksha Moodle E-Learning platform. Questionnaire and semi-structured interview guide were used by the researcher as the instruments. The result of this study shows that there were 5 challenges encountered by the students in operating Undiksha Moodle E-learning platform which could be categorized into two namely internal and external challenges. The internal challenges were the absence of some features such as video conference feature, assignment pop-up reminder feature, the occurrence of server crash and the external challenges was the inequality of internet connection quality

Abstract This social service aimed at administering free English instructional assistance and course to both teachers and students in elementary schools located in rural areas in Bali. The program has been conducted for 4 years starting from 2018. Our focus in this paper was identifying the challenges faced by the students during the program conducted from 13 July to 31 August 2021 since the teacher was a non-English department graduate and most students needed English course assistance. All teachers teaching English in elementary schools we helped majored Elementary Education degree. Besides, this program was to help the students to prepare their English competencies and skills onto junior high level. The program was conducted for six months once a week online via WhatsApp group with the class teacher and the students. This was because we still faced Covid-19 Pandemics. The results show that the students still find challenges in understanding the materials and assignments, and learning participation. Abstrak Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pendampingan dan bimbingan belajar gratis kepada guru dan siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD) di pedesaan di Bali. Program serupa telah dilaksanakan selama 4 tahun sejak 2018. Fokus artikel berikut adalah mengidentifikasi tantangan-tantangan yang dihadapi siswa selama program yang dilaksanakan pada 13 Juli sampai 31 Agustus 2021. Guru-guru pengajar Bahasa Inggris di sekolah-sekolah yang kami bantu memiliki keahlian bidang non bahasa Inggris yakni Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (Guru Kelas) dan sebagian besar siswa membutuhkan bimbingan belajar Bahasa Inggris. Program ini juga dimaksudkan untuk mempersiapkan kemampuan dan keterampilan bahasa Inggris siswa pada jenjang Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Program dilaksanakan selama 6 minggu melalui moda daring dengan grup WhatsApp karena dilaksanakan pada masa Pandemi Covid-19. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih menghadapi tantangan dalam memahami materi dan tugas-tugas, dan partisipasi belajar.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze the novice English teachers' perspectives on the one-page lesson plan principles at SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. A case study qualitative design was used in this study. This study's data collection method included in-depth interviews to understand the novice teachers' perspectives. The subjects were two novice English teachers at SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. The result showed the novice English teachers agreed one-page lesson plan is more efficient, effective, and students' oriented. However, novice English teachers had different perspectives for gathering students' information about the students' readiness, interests, and needs. This study implies that this one-page lesson plan policy needs to be sustained due to the English teachers' positive response. Keywords: Novice teachers; One-page lesson plan; Perspectives. Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perspektif dari guru bahasa Inggris baru mengenai prinsip – prinsip RPP satu halaman di SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi kasus kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan interview mendalam untuk memahami perspektif para guru baru bahasa Inggris lebih mendalam. Subjek penelitian ini menggunakan dua guru bahasa Inggris baru di SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para guru bahasa Inggris baru setuju bahwa RPP satu halaman lebih efisien, efektif dan berorientasi pada siswa. Walaupun demikian, para guru bahasa Inggris baru tersebut memiliki perbedaan perspektif didalam mengumpulkan informasi mengenai kesiapan, ketertarikan, dan kebutuhan belajar siswa mereka. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peraturan RPP satu halaman harus tetap digunakan secara berkelanjutan karena respon positif dari para guru bahasa Inggris baru tersebut. Fast learners in the class need a variety of learning activities. They are fast in comprehending the material provided by the teacher. Therefore, this study aimed to develop supplementary material for the fast learner in eighth-grade students. The material was developed to facilitate students in learning. Besides, it was an additional activity for the students. This study used the D&D research model proposed by Richey and Klein (2007). This model has four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, the researcher analyzed related documents such as the book and syllabus. The process continued by designing a blueprint or draft of the supplementary material. Then, the development of the book started. The researcher considered the needs and the ability of fast learners. Last, the evaluation was conducted to know the quality of the book. Three expert judges evaluated the book, and two teachers evaluated the book. The average score obtained from expert judges and teachers was 149. Thus, the product developed was categorized as "Good" from the experts and teacher. Besides, four users reviewed the book. The average result obtained was 46. Thus, according to users the product was categorized as "Very Good". From the result obtained, the book is suitable as additional material for fast learners.

The objective of this study was to create additional educational resources in English, specifically tailored for students in the 7th grade who have a slower learning pace at the junior high school level. This investigation was conducted at SMP N 2 Ubud. The software incorporates learning activities that are based on problem-based learning (PBL), project-based learning (PjBL), and discovery-based learning (DBL) methodologies. The product was developed using the D&D approach recommended by Richey and Klein (2007). The ADDE procedures encompass the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The participants in this study consisted of an English teacher and 70 seventh-grade students from SMP N 2 Ubud. The data obtained from the analysis technique is gathered through the means of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The outcome of the analysis technique was followed by the creation of the blueprint for additional material. The plan was utilized in the product development process. The supplemental material was incorporated into the 7th grade course of the Merdeka Curriculum. The evaluation found that the additional material is suitable for the teacher to utilize as educational media for students with slow learning abilities.
