Abstract

Abstract

Early childhood education plays an important role in fostering children's growth and character development. However, its implementation often focuses on cognitive aspects and pays little attention to character growth. This community service activity focused on strengthening the function of the Timor Deer Breeding Center in Malo Village, Bojonegoro, through an outdoor learning approach based on an educational mini zoo. The program aimed to improve the quality of early childhood education while optimizing the role of the breeding center as a means of conservation and educational tourism. The implementation methods included needs identification, facility revitalization, mini zoo class assistance, and evaluation. The results of the assistance showed high enthusiasm from the participants and an increase in community visits by 44.26%. These findings confirm that educational mini zoos contribute to character building in children, environmental preservation, and local community empowerment.

Abstract

Cell Biology is a crucial yet challenging subject in which students often struggle with abstract concepts, particularly cell organelles, a difficulty exacerbated by traditional teaching methods that utilize static materials, which yield inadequate results, especially among students with limited visual-spatial abilities. This research investigated the preliminary needs of both students and lecturers for the development of the NanoPintar e-module using diverse data collection methods, including questionnaires, interviews, student visualization tests, and multiple intelligence assessments. The results indicated very low scores in student visualization and multiple intelligence tests; however, interview and questionnaire outcomes strongly confirmed that both students and lecturers require a NanoPintar e-module for the Cell Biology course, identifying the Endoplasmic Reticulum material as the most difficult topic and thus highly suitable for the development of the e-module

Abstract

Plant Physiology Education often faces challenges in visualizing complex internal and conceptual processes, such as photosynthesis, transpiration, and mineral nutrition. Traditional teaching methods often fail to motivate students and facilitate in-depth understanding. Investigation of AR and VR Technologies in Plant Physiology Education. This study employed a quantitative methodology with a descriptive design and correlational analysis, involving 50 students who completed a questionnaire regarding their motivation and comprehension of interactive digital books utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The findings indicated a substantial enhancement in students' motivation and comprehension following the utilization of this technology. The Pearson correlation test indicated a positive link between students' motivation and comprehension, with a significance level of p-value <0.01. The t-test further validated a significant disparity in students' motivation and comprehension when utilizing AR and VR. This technology facilitates a more dynamic and immersive learning experience, aiding students in comprehending complex principles of plant physiology that are challenging to grasp through traditional techniques. This study advocates for the utilization of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies to enhance the quality of education in biology, particularly in the area of plant physiology

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) has accelerated the adoption of microlearning in education; however, a comprehensive overview of its research trends remains limited. This study aims to examine the development of microlearning research in education over the past decade, with particular attention to publication growth, dominant subject areas, and leading contributing countries. A bibliometric approach was employed to analyze 201 documents indexed in the Scopus database, published between 2016 and 2025. Literature retrieval was conducted using the keywords “microlearning,” “micro-learning,” and “education.” Inclusion criteria covered English-language journal articles and conference proceedings focusing on microlearning applications in educational contexts, while unrelated documents and incomplete records were excluded. Data were analyzed using Bibliometrix (Biblioshiny) and VOSviewer to identify publication trends, subject area distribution, country contributions, and network structures through co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence, and citation analyses. The findings reveal a significant increase in publications, particularly between 2020 and 2025, with strong representation in social sciences, psychology, economics, and politics, surpassing computer science and information technology. The United States, Germany, and China emerged as the most influential contributors. Overall, microlearning demonstrates strong potential to enhance learning outcomes through flexible, concise, and technology-supported instructional approaches.

Abstract

Plant Physiology is a compulsory course in the biology and biology education study program. The material has a high conceptual complexity, presenting physiological processes, including biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular, genetics, and environmental interactions which constitute the complexity of science. Interdisciplinary, requiring students to integrate knowledge from various disciplines. Interviews revealed that the material is complex, encompassing the study of cells, anatomy, biochemistry, and their relationship to the environment. The available teaching materials are primarily PowerPoint presentations. Lecturers lack teaching materials that adequately explain the mechanisms that occur within the plant body. One effective approach is to utilize interactive digital textbooks equipped with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). This research aims to develop an interactive digital with AR and VR for the Plant Physiology. This research is a developmental study using the 4D model. This study was limited to the development stage, which aimed to determine the validity of the digital book. The instrument used was a digital book validity analysis questionnaire. Data analysis used the percentage formula. The results of the study show that the interactive digital book equipped with AR and VR in the plant physiology course is valid with a validation value of 91.82%.
