Abstract

Inflation targeting is a policy strategy in which inflation is set as the primary objective of monetary policy implementation. Indonesia began adopting this policy framework in 2005. Various economic factors can influence the success of achieving inflation in line with the targets set by the government. Coordination among economic institutions, particularly in the monetary and fiscal sectors, plays a significant role in supporting the achievement of these inflation targets. This study aims to analyze the influence of monetary variables namely the BI-7 Day Reverse Repo Rate, previous period inflation, and the exchange rate as well as fiscal variables, including economic growth, population size, and government expenditure, on the achievement of inflation targets in Indonesia from 2005 to 2021. The method used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that monetary and fiscal variables such as the BI-7 Day Reverse Repo Rate, previous period inflation, and population size have a negative effect on inflation targeting. In contrast, the exchange rate and government expenditure positively influence inflation targeting. However, economic growth in Indonesia during the 2005–2021 period does not have a significant effect on inflation targeting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of economic openness, inflation, FDI, and government spending on economic growth in six ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines, from 2009 to 2021. The analysis method used in this study uses panel data analysis using a random effect model (REM) approach. This research shows that economic openness has a significant positive effect, inflation and government spending do not significantly affect economic growth, and FDI has a significant adverse effect on economic growth in six ASEAN countries. This research implies that the government must improve the domestic economy’s performance (producers) through import substitution policies and improved export governance with accommodative policies such as reducing export duties and VAT rates of 0 percent for producers who have just entered export activities. The government needs to improve the availability of market facilities and infrastructure and reduce barriers in exchanges between countries; this is so that there are more market choices for domestic producers to export and market choices for imports at competitive prices and lower costs due to good infrastructure. The limitations of this study are that it only examines the problems of the influence of economic openness, inflation, FDI, and government spending.

Abstract

Effective risk management is essential for rice farmers to achieve sustainable agriculture. Rice production is inherently influenced by uncertainties that can lead to yield declines or, in severe cases, complete crop failure. These uncertainties arise from various factors, including climate change, nutrient leaching, soil erosion, landslides, floods, pests, and droughts. Such risks not only threaten production but also have short-term impacts on food security at regional and national levels, potentially resulting in rice scarcity and rising prices. This study aims to analyze rice production and its associated risks in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java. Using multiple linear regression and multiplicative heteroscedasticity regression methods, the study incorporates novel elements such as agricultural inputs (land size, seeds, urea fertilizer, pesticides, and machinery), socio-demographic factors (planting season, education, farming experience), and government policies (ownership of farmer cards and extension service intensity). The findings indicate that land area, urea fertilizer, pesticides, agricultural tools, Farmer Card ownership, extension services, and planting seasons significantly affect rice production and its risks. These results underscore the importance of enhancing farmers' capabilities through improved agricultural inputs, education, and a deeper understanding of evolving planting processes, ultimately enabling more effective risk management strategies.
