Abstract

This research is motivated by the gap observed when students involved in extra-campus organizations are expected to enhance their academic achievement due to the numerous trainings and activities offered by these organizations. However, in reality, student participation in extra-campus organizations tends to hinder their academic performance. The purpose of this study is to determine whether student involvement in extra-campus organizations affects the academic achievement of students at Kharisma Islamic College, Cicurug, Sukabumi. The approach employed in this research is a quantitative approach, using descriptive quantitative methods. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling, with the population consisting of all students actively involved in extra-campus organizations, totaling 38 individuals. Abstract

This study explores the implementation of guidance and counseling (GC) programs in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools) and their effects on students’ academic and behavioral outcomes. Conducted at MI Undruss Binangun using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through interviews with counselors, teachers, and students. The results show that GC programs contributed positively to student development—78% of students experienced a 15–20% improvement in academic grades, and 72% reported enhanced emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills. However, challenges such as limited time allocation, lack of parental awareness, and inadequate facilities hinder optimal implementation. Anchored in Bandura’s social learning theory, the study highlights the importance of structured guidance in shaping student behavior and achievement. To strengthen GC effectiveness, the study recommends integrating GC into the school curriculum, enhancing counselor training, and upgrading facilities. Future research should investigate digital-based GC models to broaden reach and accessibility. These findings support the advancement of holistic education in Islamic elementary schools and provide valuable insights for educators and policymakers aiming to improve student well-being and academic success.

Abstract

The inculcation of Islamic values through the implementation of a religious culture in schools is essential for shaping students’ character. However, a gap still exists between religious learning practices and the internalization of religious values in students’ daily lives. This study aims to describe and analyze how religious culture is applied to instill Islamic values at SMP IT Al-Atiqiyah. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through one-day observations, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The findings reveal that religious culture is implemented through habituation of religious activities, teacher role modeling, and creating a school environment that supports religious practices. Teachers play a key role as exemplars in internalizing Islamic values, while students actively participate in routine religious activities. The study concludes that consistent implementation of religious culture effectively shapes students’ religious character. The implication is that a religious cultural approach can serve as a practical strategy for contextual and sustainable Islamic character education in Islamic-based secondary schools.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates how student discipline mediates the relationship between school culture and the development of religious character in Indonesian Islamic junior high schools. Although prior research has established correlations among these variables, the specific mechanism through which school culture shapes religious character remains insufficiently explained. This study addresses this gap by testing discipline as a behavioral pathway that translates cultural values into consistent moral actions. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed using survey data from 268 students across three private Islamic junior high schools. The analysis used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess both measurement and structural models, including mediation effects. The results show that school culture significantly predicts student discipline and religious character. Discipline also has a strong direct effect on religious character.

Abstract

The development of religious character in students remains a central challenge in Islamic education, particularly at the madrasah level. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation strategy of Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morals) learning at MTs Al Atiqiah and its impact on strengthening students' religious character. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies over three months. The research findings indicate that the integration of three main approaches religious habituation through daily prayers and Qur'an recitation, teacher exemplarity in attitude and behavior, and contextual learning linking Islamic values to social realities proved highly effective in shaping students' religious character. The study revealed a significant increase in consistency of worship, improved moral behavior, and active participation in religious-social activities among students. These results demonstrate that a systematic and integrative learning strategy can successfully internalize religious values within the madrasah environment, offering a comprehensive model for Islamic character education that balances traditional and contextual approaches.

Abstract

Learning the Qur'an and Hadith in Islamic schools often faces challenges in maintaining student motivation and engagement because the methods used tend to be monotonous and teacher-centered. To overcome this, more engaging and interactive strategies are needed to actively engage students in understanding the values of the Qur'an and Hadith. One relevant approach is gamification based on the Quiz Competition (LCC), which combines game elements such as competition, points, and awards into the learning process. This study aims to describe the process of implementing LCC gamification in Qur'an and Hadith learning, identify emerging obstacles, and assess the results and their impact on student understanding. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The research subjects included Qur'an Hadith teachers, 30 ninth-grade students of MTs I'anatuth Tholibin Sukabumi, and the principal as an additional informant. The results showed that LCC increased student engagement, motivation, and understanding of the Qur'an Hadith material. Obstacles that emerged included time constraints and class control due to high student enthusiasm. The teacher overcame these by adjusting the time and more active class management. Overall, the implementation of LCC effectively created a competitive, enjoyable, and meaningful learning atmosphere for students.
