Abstract

People with disabilities see wheelchairs as a solution, wheelchairs are a facility for people who can't walk or people who can't walk far. The existence of physical limitations makes a person with disabilities need more attention, a person with disabilities is someone whose rights need to be fulfilled as well as all of us. However, sometimes it is still difficult to get equal access to education, opportunities, and public facilities. The disabled, especially the physically disabled, are very likely to carry out outdoor activities independently, but must be accommodated so that they require various kinds of assistance from wheelchairs, in this case existing products or pedestrians. Mobility becomes an obstacle for them when they want to do activities outside. The design method uses Design Thinking because there is empathy which is the main foundation of this research and the research approach undertaken is descriptive qualitative, namely research conducted by processing data from interviews and observations in the form of data and analysis. Of all these problems, this research focuses on designing a product that can maximize the function of wheelchairs in activities and events even when they have to leave the house for the disabled. Keywords: disabilities, wheelchair, mobility, design, lever. AbstrakPenyandang difabel tunadaksa melihat kursi roda sebagai solusi, kursi roda merupakan suatu fasilitas bagi orang yang tidak bisa berjalan atau orang yang tidak bisa bisa berjalan jauh. Abstract

The mosque is a gathering center for Muslims in worship activities. However, the truth is that the mosque is not only a place of worship but also a center for development, including economic development. With the development of digital technology, Muslims must be able to adapt. One way is to optimize the mosque as a center for economic development. At present the economic potential that exists in the congregation and also the environment around the mosque cannot be utilized well. Prospering the mosque can also be interpreted as economically prosperous for the congregation and the networks around it. Through media design in the form of application-basedmobile, this potential can be optimized. The design method used in this research isdesign thinking. The research begins with exploring the problems and needs of users with the output being the design of application mediamobile to answer the needs of these users. The purpose of the designed media is to develop entrepreneurship from mosque social networks. So that the mosque becomes the center of economic development from the social networks around it. From the results of the analysis of the data obtained, it is known that users will choose to shop through mosque social networks if there is adequate information about this. So far, there has been no link between demand and supply among fellow mosque congregations, so there has been no economic interaction in it. Respondents also said they were interested in becoming entrepreneurs but had limited knowledge, expertise and resources. The designed application is tested on users and measured using the method System Usability Scale (SUS). The results of trials conducted on users show that the application gets a value of 71.75 or is included in the good category

Abstract

Abstract

Semiotics is a technique of studying the workings and functions of signs. The researcher analyzes Roland Barthes' semiotic approach which develops the ideas of one of the semioticians, Ferdinand de Saussure, and tries to apply the study of signs more broadly. The focus of this research is to find the meaning of a fashion phenomenon, namely urban fashion. Over time, the urban word developed as a person's lifestyle, so that the urban word was associated with fashion. In this study, the method used is qualitative. Carrying out a qualitative method system, researchers can analyze an image or photograph with Barthes' semiotic approach developed from Saussure, namely denotation, connotation and myth.

Abstract

Minangkabau is a tribe in West Sumatra with a matrilineal kinship system, which draws lineage based on the mother's ethnicity. Therefore, women are the main characters in the tribe. Minangkabau women who are married, wise, and elder are called Bundo Kanduang, who have duties and obligations to carry out. Given the importance of the role of Bundo Kanduang, it is necessary to know how the role of Bundo Kanduang can be carried out in the Rumah Gadang, both physically/real and non-physical/imaginary. The research method used is an ethnographic method with a qualitative analysis approach using the theory of the third space from Edward Soja. Based on the analysis, it was found that the activities of Bundo Kanduang in carrying out its role have been facilitated in the Rumah Gadang, both physically and non-physically, even beyond what is known as third space.

Abstract

Complex airport environments pose significant wayfinding challenges for passengers, particularly within large international hubs like Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (SHIAM) in Makassar, Indonesia. This study examines the quality of wayfinding at SHIAM, aiming to identify areas for improvement and inform future design decisions. Employing a quantitative approach, the study combines objective spatial data from a visibility index (VI) analysis of 23 key terminal facilities with subjective wayfindingexperiences gleaned from existing case studies. The VI analysis assessed visual access, layout complexity, and facility importance, revealing an overall VI score: 0,599, indicating moderate wayfinding difficulties. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to address visibility and accessibility issues, particularly in critical facilities. By optimizing wayfinding within the terminal, the airport can enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

Abstract

Jakarta faces a major challenge in creating sustainable urban mobility due to reliance on private vehicles that exacerbate congestion, air pollution, and degrade the quality of public spaces. The concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is present as a solution by prioritizing the development of areas around public transportation nodes to improve spatial efficiency and people's quality of life. This study focuses on the pedestrian area in Dukuh Atas, as part of the Jakarta TOD area, with the aim of identifying physical elements that affect walkability and comfort of pedestrian path users. The method used was exploratory sequential design, involving qualitative observation and distribution of questionnaires to 52 respondents of productive age (26–55 years). The findings show that physical elements such as trees and murals play a significant role in creating comfort and visual appeal, which are the main drivers of walkability. Regularly planted trees provide shade and a green ambiance, while the murals in the Kendal Tunnel enhance the aesthetics of the area through strong visual appeal. In addition, elements such as sidewalks, signage and street furniture also contribute to the user experience, although not as strong as green elements and murals. The results of this study support Rapoport and Speck's theory of the importance of fixed and semi-fixed physical elements in creating public spaces that are comfortable and attractive to pedestrians. With the integration of these elements, the TOD area has the potential to become a sustainable mobility solution, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and become a model for the development of inclusive and environmentally friendly public spaces for other major cities.
