Abstract

This paper condenses a Six Sigma DMAIC project implemented in an electric toothbrush assembly line at PT PIB, Batam. Baseline January–September 2025 records 967,700 units with 36,281 defects; leakage contributes ≈60% (21,774 units) and becomes the CTQ. Using Pareto, SIPOC, P-Chart, and fishbone, root causes were traced to unstable air pressure at the leakage tester, rubber-seal mismatch, missing controlled oiling at top-seal assembly, and operator variation. Post-implementation (Oct–Dec 2025) DPMO fell from ≈5,356 ppm (≈4σ) to ≈200 ppm (≈5σ), P-Chart points stayed in-control. These results demonstrate DMAIC effectiveness to reduce leakage defects and stabilize process capability.

Abstract

A stationary bike is a popular exercise tool, but its design often lacks ergonomics, leading to discomfort and potential injury for users. This research aims to develop a more ergonomic control system for stationary bikes using reverse engineering methods. This method is used to analyze existing stationary bike designs, identify ergonomic issues, and design better improvisations. The results of the reverse engineering analysis indicate several ergonomic problems in the analyzed stationary bike design, such as a lack of flexibility in position adjustment and a design that does not align with the users' anthropometric data. Based on these analysis results, a new, more ergonomic control system has been designed, including features for more flexible position adjustments and a design tailored to the users' body dimensions. From the initial survey conducted, users complained about the difficulty of converting a regular bike into a stationary bike, with many expressing concerns about the high cost of stationary bikes that are not efficient. Addressing these issues, the author attempts to design a tool or product that transforms a regular bike into an ergonomic, cost-effective stationary bike. A significant factor in the design of this product is the ergonomic aspect, which involves studying human factors in the design process, including anatomy, psychology, physiology, engineering, management, and design.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital whiteboard technology implementation in enhancing user interaction, particularly in classroom A101 at Universitas Riau Kepulauan. The main issues with conventional whiteboards include limited information storage, lack of remote collaboration, and low flexibility in material delivery. The research employed the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) method, covering need identification, device installation, calibration, trial, and evaluation. The findings indicate that the digital whiteboard improves students’ concentration, engagement, and collaboration in the learning process. Moreover, it supports teaching efficiency, multimedia integration, and provides a more interactive learning experience. The main challenges identified were user training needs and dependency on technological infrastructure. Overall, the implementation of digital whiteboards proves superior to conventional methods in creating effective, efficient, and collaborative learning.
