Abstract

Graphical Abstract   Highlight Research 1. The study successfully identified the utilization of coastal and marine areas within the research site. 2. Oceanographic parameters across the study area have been analyzed, providing insights into variations in environmental conditions favoring seagrass ecosystem resilience. 3. The structure of seagrass vegetation has been thoroughly observed, revealing differences in species composition, density, and coverage. 4. Furthermore, the study establishes the connectivity between coastal and marine spatial utilization, oceanographic factors, and seagrass ecosystem dynamics, highlighting their interdependent relationships.     Abstract This study aims to assess the ecological status of seagrass meadows and their relationship with dugong (Dugong dugon) habitats across four distinct ecological regions in East Java, Indonesia. Field assessments were conducted to evaluate seagrass community structure, oceanographic parameters, and the intensity of human activities. Seagrass distribution was mapped using Sentinel-2A satellite imagery, while seagrass health was evaluated through the Seagrass Ecological Quality Index (SEQI) and Importance Value Index (IVI). Statistical analyses, including Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), were employed to identify significant differences and key environmental drivers. The results revealed marked spatial variation in oceanographic characteristics and seagrass coverage (p < 0.05). PCA showed that anthropogenic factors—particularly marine space utilization such as aquaculture and coastal development—were major contributors to seagrass degradation. Elevated nutrient concentrations were also associated with declining seagrass health, indicating land-based pollution as a dominant stressor. These findings underline the urgent need for integrated coastal zone management. Strengthening conservation policies, reducing terrestrial runoff, and implementing sustainable marine spatial planning are critical to safeguard seagrass ecosystems and ensure the long-term survival of dugong populations in Indonesian waters.

Abstract

Harmonious relations between companies and surrounding communities are the dream of every industry. In reality, however, industries often experience conflicts with surrounding communities. This is due to several factors, namely those related to employment and environmental impacts. A notable social conflict occurred in 2012 when approximately 64 local residents staged a demonstration. To mitigate such conflicts, the company has adopted a community engagement approach through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This study examines the alignment and implementation of CSR programs in relation to their impact on environmental performance at a bio-manufacturing company located in East Java, Indonesia. To date, the company's CSR programs have incorporated suggestions from the local community. Based on company data, the percentage of social CSR programs is highly dominant at 83.5%, consisting of charity, religious, and natural disaster relief initiatives. This study employs an explanatory quantitative approach to test existing theories or hypotheses, aiming to strengthen or add to previous research findings. While other studies only use the CSR disclosure variable, this study includes the type of CSR variable that influences CSR disclosure and several external influences on environmental performance. The sample size for this study is 300 respondents from the community surrounding the company. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-PLS software. The results of the study indicate that CSR disclosure, pro-environmental community actions, and environmental NGOs have a positive and significant effect on environmental performance. The suitability of CSR programs for the community is the main factor influencing the value of CSR disclosure satisfaction. This study shows that the appropriate CSR programs for companies are social CSR, health CSR, and environmental CSR.

Abstract

This study investigates the improvement of hydrogen gas production in biomass pyrolysis through the use of Na-bentonite catalysts modified with methyl ester sulfonate (MES), a biodegradable anionic surfactant. Corn cob powder was used as the biomass feedstock in a fixed-bed pyrolysis reactor at 550°C. The MES modification introduced alkyl, ester, and sulfonate functional groups, increasing the catalyst porosity, surface area, and acidity. Structural and chemical changes were confirmed by FTIR, XRD, UV-Vis, SEM, and EDX analyses. The MES-modified Na-bentonite catalyst significantly enhanced hydrogen production, reaching 876 ppm (a 25.11% increase compared to pyrolysis without a catalyst) and also lowered the reaction temperature and shortened the reaction time. Methane production decreased as MES improved catalyst selectivity toward dehydrogenation pathways. The results indicate that MES-modified Na-bentonite is a low-cost, efficient, and environmentally friendly catalyst suitable for improving hydrogen yields in biomass pyrolysis, offering a promising alternative to conventional metal-based catalysts.

Abstract

Abstract

Based on SFAC (Statement of Financial Accounting Concepts) No. 8, the purpose of financial reporting is to provide relevant financial information to external users to support their decision-making. This study aims to examine the influence of pressure, capability, collusion, opportunity, rationalization, and ego on financial statement fraud at Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia by considering the role of anti-fraud policies as a moderating variable. This study employs a quantitative approach using panel data from eight Islamic Commercial Banks over the period 2018–2024, analyzed using fixed-effects regression. The results indicate that anti-fraud policies are unable to moderate the influence of pressure and capability on financial statement fraud. However, anti-fraud policies effectively moderate the influence of collusion, opportunity, rationalization, and ego, thereby reducing or weakening financial statement fraud. These findings reinforce the validity of fraud theory in the context of Islamic Commercial Banks and emphasize the importance of implementing effective anti-fraud policies to mitigate behavioral and systemic fraud risks. The practical implications of this study highlight the need to strengthen internal oversight and organizational ethical culture as part of a sustainable fraud prevention strategy in the Islamic commercial banking sector.
