Abstract

Abstract

Aging is an inevitable natural process, and one of its impacts is the decline in the cardiorespiratory system. Preventive efforts can be made by increasing physical activity as early as possible during the pre-elderly phase (45-59 years). This study aimed to determine the effect of Healthy Heart Exercise Series-I on cardiorespiratory endurance in the elderly in Banjar Dakdakan, Peguyangan Village, North Denpasar District. This pre-experimental study used a pre-test and post-test one-group design conducted from April to May 2024, involving 15 research participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument used to measure cardiorespiratory endurance was the six-minute walking test, which was then converted into VO2Max values. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to determine the effect of Healthy Heart Exercise Series-I on cardiorespiratory endurance in the elderly. The analysis results showed a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05), indicating a significant difference in the improvement of VO2Max before and after the intervention in the elderly group who received the treatment. It was concluded that Healthy Heart Exercise Series-I positively affects cardiorespiratory endurance in the elderly in Banjar Dakdakan, Peguyangan Village, North Denpasar District.

Abstract

Background: Lateral epycondylitis is a disorder experienced by individuals who often use their hands during activities such as tennis athletes or people who like to play tennis, housewives and office workers. Repeated hand movements will cause inflammation in the muscles and tendons on the lateral side of the elbow, causing pain and interfering with activities. This problem can be overcome with exercises in the form of muscle energy technique. This exercise uses isometric muscle contractions that lead to muscle relaxation reflexes that reduce tissue tension and improve joints. Objective : This study aims to determine the effectiveness of muscle energy technique in reducing pain and disability in patients with lateral epicondylitis Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : TThis study is a pre-experimental study with a pre-test and post test one group design conducted at one of the clinics in Denpasar for 4 weeks. The sample of this study was 14 people in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research instruments used the Visual Analog Scale to measure pain and the Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation to measure disability. Results : The reduction in pain and disability before and after the intervention using the paired sample t-test was obtained p<0.001 respectively Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the muscle energy technique is effective in reducing pain and disability in patients with lateral epicondylitis.

Abstract

Wood processing generally involves the use of large machines for cutting and grinding. This process is customized according to consumer needs. During wood processing, workers are exposed to noise generated by machines, with an average level exceeding 85 dBA. These workers typically work eight hours a day with a one-hour break. The impact of this noise extends beyond hearing loss, as it also disrupts the workers' sleep quality. This study aims to examine the relationship between noise levels and sleep quality among wood processing workers, specifically at UD. Adhi Santa in Tabanan, Bali, which serves as the research site. The study design employed was a cross-sectional study with a sample population of 40 wood processing workers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Noise levels were measured using a sound level meter in the work machine area, while sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleeping Quality Index (PSQI). The data were analyzed using computer software, utilizing Spearmans to determine the significant relationship between noise levels and sleep quality among workers in the wood processing factory. The results indicated that, out of the 40 workers, the analysis revealed a significant relationship between noise levels and sleep quality (p = 0.002, p < 0.05). In conclusion, it can be stated that there is indeed a significant relationship between noise levels and sleep quality among wood processing workers.

Abstract

Adolescence is a time when growth and development occur rapidly both physically, psychologically and intellectually. One of the physical changes that occur in adolescents is in the form of changes in the musculoskeletal system such as changes in body posture. Changes in posture can occur due to the use of bags and sitting positions. Adolescent knowledge about good posture is still lacking so there is a need for education and posture checks to prevent the impact of posture changes. The method used in this study is divided into three stages, namely the licensing stage, audience with the school and the implementation of activities by conducting posture checks using postural charts and reedco posture assessment. After conducting the examination then continued with the provision of education about body posture. The output of this activity is an improvement in the quality of health in adolescents who avoid musculoskeletal disorders with awareness of the importance of maintaining posture. The result of this community service activity was the number of students who participated in this activity as many as 44 people with details of men amounting to 18 people (41%), while women amounted to 26 people (59%). Students who experienced good posture as many as 37 people (84%) and students who experienced bad posture as many as 7 people (16%).
