Abstract

This community service aims to improve the understanding of students of class XI Religious Sciences at MAS Plus Al Ulum Medan on algebraic limit material through the use of Photomath application. This activity was carried out in April 2025 with a total of 32 participants. The implementation method consisted of training on the use of Photomath application, group discussions, and independent exercises carried out for 2 days. Data were collected through questionnaires to find out how much the Photomath application can affect learning in the classroom and an early-late test to see the improvement of learning outcomes by using the Photomath application. Based on the results of the activity, it shows that the use of Photomath application can improve the understanding of the concept of limit algebra, help students follow the steps of solving systematically, and create a more pleasant learning atmosphere. Students' learning outcomes increased from an average student score of 58 to an average student score of 86. The questionnaire results obtained data that 85% of students felt more confident in working on limit problems and 78% of students stated that math learning became more fun.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linier Tiga Variabel (SPLTV) ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami dan menyelesaikan soal matematika berbentuk cerita yang memerlukan representasi simbol, visual, dan verbal secara terpadu. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas X-4 MAS Plus Al Ulum Medan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan wawancara mendalam. Data dianalisis berdasarkan kategori kemampuan dan jenis kesalahan yang muncul pada empat indikator komunikasi matematis, yakni: penggunaan notasi matematika, pembuatan gambar, penjelasan ide secara tulisan, serta penjelasan gambar dalam bentuk tulisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 31 siswa, sebanyak 27 siswa (87%) tergolong dalam kategori kemampuan rendah dan sangat rendah. Kesalahan dominan terjadi pada penggunaan notasi matematika (57%), pembuatan gambar (48%), penjelasan ide secara tulisan (40%), dan penjelasan gambar ke tulisan (38%). Faktor utama penyebab kesalahan antara lain rendahnya keterampilan membaca dan memahami konteks soal, kurangnya diskusi dalam pembelajaran, serta pembelajaran yang masih bersifat satu arah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya pembelajaran dua arah yang menekankan komunikasi matematis secara aktif untuk meminimalkan kesalahan dan meningkatkan kualitas pemahaman siswa.

Abstract

Matematika merupakan salah satu pelajaran yang kurang disukai siswa karena dianggap sulit dan membosankan. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan aplikasi pembelajaran agar pembelajaran menjadi menyenangkan seperti aplikasi kalkulator grafik. Pada kalkulator grafik, siswa diberi kebebasan untuk mencoba berbagai pertidaksamaan garis, mengamati berbagai bentuk garis, arah arsiran sesuai dengan bentuk pertidaksamaan, dan titik potong yang terbentuk dari dua garis atau lebih. Melalui aplikasi ini, siswa akan lebih mudah memahami materi program linear dan tidak merasa bosan belajar di kelas. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode pendampingan dan praktik langsung. Setelah dilaksanakan pelatihan, 85% siswa telah mampu menggunakan aplikasi ini dan hasil angket menyatakan bahwa 95% siswa merasa pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat. Pelatihan ini memberikan informasi yang baru kepada siswa bahwa belajar matematika tidak sesulit yang mereka bayangkan.

Abstract

Bullying is one of the serious problems in the world, where it can damage the physical and mental well-being of the parties involved. The problem of bullying cannot be ignored, especially in a school environment where at those ages a person is experiencing growth that is very important for their future. Prevention of bullying can also be done through activities in schools, one of which is the Pancasila Student Strengthening Project (P5) program. This research was conducted by describing findings in the field related to P5 activities in preventing bullying behavior. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection through socialization (workshops), field observations, provision of diagnostic and formative assessments, and in-depth interviews with informants of research objects. Data analysis is carried out in stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Build their mind and body to be able to provide information about bullying so that participants can respond wisely in the future. The methods used are socialization (workshop), observation, discussion, brainstorming, challenges and project benefits. The selection of students at vocational schools as the object of research is due to the rampant bullying of students in schools

Abstract

Materi pertidaksamaan linier sering kali menimbulkan kesulitan bagi siwa karena menuntut kemampuan memahami hubungan antara representasi aljabar dan grafik secara bersamaan. Kondisi ini menyebabkan rendahnya pemahaman konsep serta kurangnya keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan memanfaatkan teknologi pembelajaran berbasis visual, salah satuya adalah aplikasi Desmos. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keaktifan belajar siswa melalui pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Desmos dalam menyelesaikan pertidaksamaan linier. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di MAS Plus Al Ulum Medan pada kelas X-2 dengan 33 siswa. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan dan pendampingan pembelajaran, yang meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap pelaksanaan, siswa diberikan pengenalan aplikasi Desmos, demonstrasi penggunaan Desmos dalam menggambar grafik, serta praktik langsung menyelesaikan soal dengan pendampingan dosen. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui observasi aktivitas siswa, analisis hasil latihan, dan diskusi reflektif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Desmos memberikan dampak positif terhadap pemahaman konsep. Siswa mampu memvisualisasikan grafik pertidaksamaan dan menentukan daerah penyelesaian dengan lebih tepat dibandingkan sebelum pelatihan. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keaktifan, antusiasme, dan motivasi belajar selama kegiatan berlangsung. Pembelajaran berbasis Desmos juga mendorong siswa untuk melakukan eksplorasi mandiri dan berpartisipasi aktif dalam diskusi belajar

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize research findings from published articles addressing students’ mathematical communication skills and self-regulated learning. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted following a structured, standardized procedure, including the formulation of review questions, database selection, keyword identification, the definition of inclusion and exclusion criteria, article screening, and data extraction. Relevant studies were identified from reputable academic databases and systematically reviewed to ensure methodological rigor and transparency. The results of the analysis indicate that mathematics learning implemented through specific instructional models or learning strategies contributes to improvements in students’ mathematical communication skills and self-regulated learning. Furthermore, several studies report a positive relationship between mathematical communication skills and self-regulated learning in mathematics education. However, other studies reveal no significant relationship between these two variables. Various factors, including differences in sample characteristics, learning contexts, and research designs, influence these inconsistencies. Therefore, further studies using more controlled and consistent methodologies are needed to obtain more specific findings and to identify the key factors influencing the relationship between mathematical communication skills and self-regulated learning, thereby improving the quality of future research.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are essential in enabling students to express mathematical ideas through symbols, models, and visual representations. However, many Indonesian students still experience difficulties, particularly when solving story-based problems. This study aimed to analyse students’ mathematical communication skills in solving linear programming story problems using the Symbolab application. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design involving 32 tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Plus Al Ulum Medan. Data were collected through five story problems and follow-up interviews with selected students representing each ability level. The result showed that 37,5% of students were in the low category, 37,5% in the medium category, and 25% in the high category of mathematical communication skills. Most students had difficulty translating story problems into mathematical models, which led to errors in graph construction, shading region determination, and final computations. Although the Symbolab application helped students visualise graphs and follow solution steps, students still had to construct mathematical models from the problems independently. These findings suggest that while the Symbolab application can support visualisation and solution steps, explicit instruction and practice in translating word problems into mathematical models remain crucial for developing students’ mathematical communication skills.
