Abstract

The production and application process of organic fertilizers generally requires additional labor compared to chemical fertilizers which are more instantaneous. Diversification of fertilizer use, especially the shift of some farmers to organic fertilizers, is not only driven by ecological considerations, but also by opportunities to increase economic added value that is labor intensive. This study aims to test and measure the extent to which diversification of organic and inorganic fertilizers has an impact on agricultural employment in Central Java. The analytical tools used are Labor Multiplier, Employment Opportunity Elasticity, and Employment Opportunity Growth Rate Calculation. The results of the analysis show that diversification of agricultural inputs in Central Java, especially through increased use of organic fertilizers, has a significant impact on job creation and sustainability of the agricultural sector. Although the allocation of organic fertilizer in the subsidy scheme is still low (around 4%), the trend of increasing adoption by farmers, the surge in certified land area, and the increase in the labor multiplier from 1.08 to 1.10 indicate that this environmentally friendly input has great potential as a labor-intensive lever of the village economy.

Abstract

Kebon Gedang Block is one of the few areas of natural dye batik craftsmen in Indonesia. The activity of using natural dyes for batik has been carried out from generation to generation. This study aims to analyze the transfer of ethnobotanical knowledge of natural dyes based on age class (KU), analyze ways to regenerate and analyze the policy scheme for retention of ethnobotanical knowledge of natural dyes in the Kebon Gedang Block. The main methods used in this study were semi-open interviews, observation, and documentation. The selection of respondents was carried out by purposive sampling by considering age (years), namely I (30-39), II (40-49), III (50-59), IV (> 60). The results showed that the level of knowledge of natural dyes and retention was highest in KU III because the people were still healthy, strong, and generally still actively following the development of the batik industry. However, KU III is the group with the highest change in knowledge and is feared to be lost. While at other KU levels, the inheritance of knowledge is still going well. The policy of retaining ethnobotanical knowledge of natural dyes can be carried out in several ways, including by creating books, booklet or electronic sites about knowledge of natural dyes, as well as by registering intellectual property rights. This research can record the current state of knowledge so that efforts can be made to avoid losing this knowledge.

Abstract

The Government-to-Government (G2G) program significantly increases the number of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Korea. As a developed country, South Korea is committed to protecting all workers in its territory, including migrant workers from Indonesia. However, the employment social security of the South Korean government is not fully able to cover the risks and needs of PMI. Protecting migrant workers' rights to social security is important. It is also the responsibility of the Indonesian government through BPJS Employment, not only to ensure equal treatment in social security for migrant workers but also to expand social security coverage for populations that are currently unprotected. Therefore, it is important for employment social security administrators to increase the probability of migrant workers becoming BPJS Employment participants. Using the logistic regression method and Sakernas data for August 2021, it was found that migrant workers who work in the formal sector, with work contracts, and have BPJS Health membership have a higher tendency to become Employment Social Security participants.

Abstract

Microplastic (MP) contamination in agricultural soils is an emerging anthropogenic threat that disrupts the rhizosphere of horticultural crops. Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) play an important role in improving nutrient uptake and stress resilience in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), but their symbiotic relationship may be impaired by plastic residues. This literature review aims to synthesize the mechanisms by which microplastics disrupt AMF–tomato symbiosis and their implications for plant growth and productivity. A narrative-systematic literature review was conducted using Google Scholar, Scopus, and PubMed, covering publications from 2018–2026. Twenty-five relevant scientific articles were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The synthesis indicates that microplastics act as physical and chemical stressors in the rhizosphere. Physically, they alter soil porosity and may damage extraradical AMF hyphae, while chemically, released additives can interfere with root–fungus signaling and reduce mycorrhizal colonization. These disruptions may impair arbuscule formation, water and nutrient acquisition, particularly phosphorus and zinc, and consequently reduce plant biomass and productivity. Reduced AMF protection may also increase tomato susceptibility to soil-borne pathogens such as Fusarium. Under severe contamination, nanoplastics may potentially enter root vascular tissues and raise concerns regarding food safety. Overall, microplastic pollution can weaken the ecological functions of AMF–tomato symbiosis and threaten sustainable tomato production.
