Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the structure of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency, (2) the categories of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya District, and (3) the social function of traditional questions (riddles). the Sitiung Kenagarian community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data of this research are traditional questions (riddles) from the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. Data collection from informants was carried out in two stages, namely recording traditional questions (riddles) and collecting data about the storytelling environment. Data analysis was carried out in four stages (1) data transcription stage, (2) data classification stage, (3) results discussion and conclusion stage, and (4) reporting stage. Based on the results of the study, the following were found: (1) the structure of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency consists of: (a) traditional questions (riddles) that conflict, and (b) traditional questions (riddles) that do not contrary. (2) the categories of traditional questions (riddles) of the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency consist of: (a) similarities with humans, (b) similarities with animals, (c) similarities with plants, (d) similarities with inanimate objects, and (e) similarities with colors. (3) the social function of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency, consisting of: (a) testing other people's intelligence, and (b) entertainment.

Abstract

This page tries to clarify and outline: (1) the composition of the folklore around the Sigale-gale Statue, located in the Simanindo District of the Samosir Regency of North Sumatra Province; and (2) the significance of the statue. (2) The social significance of the Sigale-gale Statue's folklore legend in the Simanindo District of Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province. A descriptive methodology is being used in this qualitative investigation. The Sigale-gale Statue's folklore is the focus of this study, which is located in Huta Siallagan, Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province. Through observation, interviews, and recorded interviews, information can be gathered from informants. The gathered data underwent multiple levels of analysis. (1) describing the data; (2) classifying or analyzing the data; (3) discussing the analysis of the findings of the classification; and (4) reports. The findings of this study suggest that: 1) The Sigale-gale Statue folklore legend in the Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province, has the following elements: style, characterizations, storyline, place, topic, and message. 2) The Sigale-gale Statue in Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province, serves three societal purposes: (a) disseminating, (b) educating, and (c) entertaining.

Abstract

This research aim to describe a textological study of the issue of how the Hikayat Si Miskin manuscript text from the Harvad University - Houghton Library/ ms_Indo_18-METS collection was translated into handwritten Arabic-Malay script, the appearance of which is much different from the standard form of the letters of this script. This is the most important part in the textological study of the subfield of philology before the editing of texts from the old Malay Arabic-Malay script into Latin script is presented. His identity as the author is not included at the front of his work, but at the end of the manuscript called the colophon. The presentation of a text that has been cleaned of all writing errors paves the way for further study of the content of the text from various aspects related to the existence of the form and content of the text being studied, such as a study of the structural content of the text, a study of linguistic aspects, a study of social values. and culture, it is even possible to examine historical elements, because manuscripts are historical documents that describe the life systems and patterns of old society. The method used to discuss text issues and content that can be studied in various related scientific disciplines is the standard text criticism method, namely a philological method that attempts to re-present classical texts by criticizing and correcting corrupt texts. In accordance with the focus of the discussion which focuses on writing and visual text writing, the research results found writing irregularities and errors in writing lacunae, substitutions, additions, transpositions, dittography, and haplography. The most common writing errors are substitution errors.

Abstract

This article discusses the continuity and change of gandang sarunai music performances in socio-cultural activities of the Alam Surambi Sungai Pagu community, South Solok, West Sumatra. The data were derived from the results of research compiled based on qualitative methods, utilizing literature study techniques, observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that there has been a change in the performance of gandang sarunai music both in terms of venue and in terms of musical aspects of gandang sarunai nowadays. While the continuity of music is maintained, even when compared to the performances of gandang sarunai music during the time of Raja Alam of Surambi Sungai Pagu led the region administratively; gandang sarunai music has been used by all levels of society in their various socio-cultural activities nowadays. In the past, gandang sarunai music was only shown by and for the King's family. Nowadays, gandang sarunai music is used not only in the royal family's environment. Most people have also used gandang sarunai music in their various socio-cultural activities.

Abstract

As a popular novel genre, Indonesian metro pop novels are claimed to represent a cultural phenomenon of urban communities who live and settle in big cities. This cultural phenomenon is closely related to the behavior and lifestyle of the urban community. The study of urbanism is assumed to attempt to understand the patterns, attitudes, and lifestyles of urban people reflected in various aspects and activities of life. The results of this study indicate that people who live in metropolitan cities and urban communities featured in Indonesian metro pop novels are described as people who have a luxurious lifestyle, hedonic, instant, consumptive, well-established profession, and have a pragmatic approach. In addition, the lifestyle of the urban community in the metro pop novel is also reflected in the model of clothing (fashion) used, the food and beverages consumed, the language used, ways of communicating, use of various devices, forms of art and entertainment, and habit of social media.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the validity and practicality of the E-module theme 4 based on the values of multicultural education in Sub-theme 1 in the fourth grade of elementary school. The type of research used is research and development with a 4-D development model, namely define, design, development, and disseminate. The research instrument includes validation sheets by 3 expert lecturers, namely material experts, design experts, and linguists, and questionnaire responses from educators and students. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the assessment from material expert lecturers included aspects of content feasibility with a score (96,87%) in the very valid category and the integration aspect (92,85%) in the very valid category. The results of the assessment from design expert lecturers include the presentation component aspect (90,62%) in the very valid category, and the graphic aspect (82,14%) in the valid category. The assessment results from linguistic lecturers include aspects of language (92,5%) in the very valid category. From the three expert lecturers' assessment results, an overall average of 90,99% was obtained with a very valid category. The results of the practicality test by educators obtained an average of (91,67%) in the very practical category and the results of the practicality test by the students obtained an average of (97,99%) and categorized as very practical. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the development of the e-module theme 4 based on the values of multicultural education in elementary schools is very valid, and very practical. So that it can be used in the learning process by educators, and for other researchers it is recommended to be able to develop e-learning modules based on character education values in other materials.

Abstract

Gerakan literasi dasar baca tulis bertujuan untuk menghasilkan lingkungan atau ekosistem atau masyarakat yang sadar dan kaya akan literasi. Masyarakat yang dimaksudkan ini adalah masyarakat yang aktif, dinamis, dan menghidupkan aktivitas literasi. Masyarakat yang dimaksudkan terutama adalah masyarakat secara menyeluruh yang dimulai dari lingkungan keluarga, lingkungan lembaga pendidikan formal, serta masyarakat umum mulai dari perkotaan hingga ke wilayah terjauh.Berbagai upaya dapat dilakukan untuk terus mengembangkan Gerakan Literasi Nasional (GLN), salah satunya adalah dengan memberikan pelatihan berupa penguatan kapasitas fasilitator.Berdasarkan kenyataan tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini  difokuskan pada pelatihan  penguatan kapasitas fasilitator gerakan literasi dasar baca tulis bagi guru-guru Sekolah Menengah Pertama Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di Kabupaten Tanah Datar Provinsi Sumatra Barat. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan difokuskan pada penguatan guru-guru tersebut sebagai fasilitator Gerakan Literasi Nasional di lingkungan tempat mereka bertugas sehingga mereka memiliki pengetahuan, wawasan, dan keterampilan sebagai fasilitator yang kaya untuk melaksanakan strategi gerakan baca tulis di sekolah. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah (presentasi), diskusi/tanya jawab, pemberian tugas, dan pendampingan. Hasil yang dicapai setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan dan setelah mengamati latihan yang diberikan, dapat terlihat bahwa para peserta dapat memperoleh pengetahuan literasi dan mampu mengembangkan pembelajaran yang terintegrasi dengan kegiatan literasi serta menjadi fasilitator kegiatan literasi di sekolah.

Abstract

Politeness in language is essential for fostering respectful communication and social harmony, particularly within cultural and religious contexts, yet its role in Islamic education remains underexplored. This study examines how the Mandailing Onang-Onang oral tradition encapsulates linguistic politeness strategies that reflect Islamic values and explores its potential contribution to Islamic education. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, the research utilizes participant observation, in-depth interviews with cultural practitioners, and analysis of recorded Onang-Onang performances framed through Brown and Levinson's politeness theory. The findings reveal that Onang-Onang employs key politeness strategies, such as indirectness, honorifics, and metaphorical expressions, which align with Islamic ethical principles of morality (akhlaq) and etiquette (adab). Furthermore, the study underscores the role of Onang-Onang in reinforcing communal ties and transmitting religious teachings. Integrating Onang-Onang into Islamic educational frameworks can enrich moral instruction, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen learners' understanding of Islamic values, demonstrating its relevance in contemporary pedagogical settings.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pandangan bahwa adanya kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingya nilai profetik dalam kehidupan. Profetik berkenaan dengan sifat nabi yang mempunyai ciri sebagai manusia yang ideal secara spiritual-individual, juga menjadi pelopor perubahan, membimbing masyarakat ke arah perbaikan dan melakukan perjuangan tanpa henti melawan penindasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profetik dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari. Penelitian ini merupakan rancangan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Berdasarkan analisis dan pembahasan data, dapat disimpulkan hasil penelitian sebagai berikut, yaitu profetik humanis menjadi profetik yang dominan dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari, hal ini membuktikan bahwa peduli sesama makhluk Tuhan, saling memahami, dan bermoral dalam hidup bermasyarakat sangat penting. Profetik liberasi dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari terlihat dari adanya pembebasan dari kebodohan dengan cara menjalankan pendidikan yang sebaik-baiknya. (3) realitas profetik transendensi dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari ditemukan sebanyak 61 data. Profetik transendensi dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari  terlihat adanya dari sikap tokoh seperti selalu beribadah.
