Abstract

This study aims to find out the impact of Discovery Learning model combined with Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) method on students' learning motivation in the one of inclusion class at SMAN 10 Surabaya. This study used a Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CCAR) approach with the Kurt Lewin model. This model contain of four stages, among them are: plan, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects on this research were 36 learners, including 4 learners with special needs. The results be seen that in cycle I, the implementation of Discovery Learning had not fully increased students' learning motivation. However, after improvements were made in cycle II by integrating the STAD method, there was a very significant improvement in motivation indicators, especially in the aspect of tenacity in facing difficulties. The mode score of learning motivation increased from 2 to 3 on this indicator, indicating a high learning motivation category. In addition, cognitive learning outcomes also improved, with 69.4% of students achieving learning completeness according to school criteria. Therefore, in summary that the Discovery Learning strategy combined with the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) method is effective to improve the motivation and learning outcomes of inclusion class students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the feasibility of a guided inquiry-based worksheet integrated with a nested approach to train students' critical thinking skills in chemical equilibrium material. The feasibility of the worksheet is assessed from the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), which uses the 4D development model by Thiagarajan (1974), which is limited to the stages of defining, designing, and developing. A limited trial was conducted in April 2025 on 29 high school students in Surabaya. The results of the study showed that the validity of the worksheet was included in the valid category with a median validity score of 5. The practicality of the worksheet was assessed as practical based on student responses (96.17%), and observation sheets ≥ 61% of student activities were relevant. The effectiveness of the worksheet was proven to be high, as indicated by the N-Gain analysis of the critical thinking skills test, which showed a high category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry-based worksheet integrated with a suitable approach for chemical equilibrium learning is suitable for use to improve student's critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Chemistry is one of the fields of science that involves many concepts and is prone to misconceptions. This is because books, information from other people and the internet, misinterpreted experiences, and other sources provide inaccurate or incomplete information. Teachers are responsible for transferring knowledge or information and ensuring that the knowledge or information is understood correctly so that the teacher's ability to detect students' conception profiles becomes one of the competencies that teachers must have. Chemistry teachers in Mojokerto Regency and City need to map students' conceptions related to chemical concepts not only considering aspects of students' thinking skills. This is the basis for the community service team who have the initiative to provide training on Student Concept Mapping on Chemistry Material in Mojokerto Regency and City. The results obtained were that teachers' understanding of the development of diagnostic tests improved, from 57.14% to 88.09% and was proven by the preparation of diagnostic tests developed by teachers on acid-base, chemical bonds, and hydrocarbon materials. Keywords: training, mapping, chemical conception

Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the feasibility of PBL-based LAPD in developing critical thinking skills in Phase F of buffer solution material. The feasibility of LAPD was evaluated based on the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research design applied was Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D Thiagarajan development model, which includes definition, design, and development. Limited-scale testing was applied to grade XI students at Widya Darma High School in Surabaya. The feasibility analysis of LAPD in terms of content validity, construct validity, and graphic validity showed a mode score of 5, which is classified as very good. The practicality of the LAPD was proven by a student response rate of 90% and an activity observation result of 93.30%, thus classified as very practical. The effectiveness aspect was determined based on the pretest and posttest critical thinking scores. Testing with the paired t-test method obtained a right-hand p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), so the alternative hypothesis H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. This improvement was supported by a critical thinking N-gain value of 0.77 in the high category, as well as student learning outcomes of 87.5, which had reached mastery. The analysis results indicate that PBL-oriented LAPD is feasible to be applied to train critical thinking on buffer solution material.
