Abstract

The occurrence of ants in agricultural habitat is related to the availability of food resources as well as environmental condition for its nesting site. As predator, ants play an important role on controlling pest population in agricultural habitat. The objective of this research was to study the diversity of ants in pepper plantation. The research outcome can be used as basic information for cultivation management of pepper. Ecological observation was conducted in four regencies in Lampung Province with two selected plots on each regency. On each plot, ants were sampled using pitfall traps. In total, 28 ant species were recorded from pepper field in four regencies. Two species i.e. Anoplolepis gracilipes and Solenopsis geminataare well-known as tramp and invasive species. There is significantly different of ant species composition among regencies. The occurrence of ants in pepper plantationis probably affected by habitat condition surrounding pepper plantation and precipitation.

Abstract

Background: Mangrove environments play an essential function in coastal tidal areas. Petengoran mangrove forest is located in Gebang village, Teluk Pandan district, Pesawaran, Lampung province. Describe the ecological and ethnocentric conditions of the Petengora mangrove forest in Gebang village, linked to mangrove vegetation to facilitate forest maintenance, community empowerment, and community impacts on Petengoran mangroves. Methods: This research uses the transect method at three stations with four plots. Each plot had an area of 10 x 10 m2. Ethnocentric data collection was conducted using questionnaires and field observations. Results: INP of Rhizopora mucronata was the highest (300%). The station's overall diversity level (H') is medium. The specific richness index (R) of all stations is low. All stations' uniformity index (E) is high, as shown by findings from community interviews on ethnocentric elements of Petengoran mangrove ecotourism. The environmental conditions of the mangrove forests are relatively clean and maintained, and the infrastructure and ecotourism infrastructure are pretty adequate. Conclusions: Petengora mangroves are managed by farmers who create nurseries and plantations. This area is a mangrove reserve. The mangrove forest is considered a traditional place, but surrounding communities do not have any unique traditions.

Abstract

Local knowledge continues to experience two fundamental problems that cause its existence to be marginalized and cannot be widely passed on. Externally, local knowledge has always been questioned for its relevance to the times. Internally, it has become elitist, making it difficult for other groups to access it. Gradually, local knowledge is alienated in people's lives. To date, ethnobotany studies have focused on identifying plants and their properties for policy and business purposes. This study was carried out in four old villages near the Way Kambas National Park, East Lampung, which were selected using the purposive sampling method. The key respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method, while data were collected from respondents through semi-structured interviews. Selected medicinal plants were observed, and the data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively. Interviews with parties interested in medicinal plant knowledge show the monopolistic mastery of knowledge by all parties and their interests. The study shows a great need for synergy between parties for the preservation of medicinal plant knowledge, starting with the opening of access to knowledge for all. The openness of the battras  (traditional healers) to share sources of knowledge, the dedication of researchers/scientists in transforming knowledge into the public domain, the willingness of the private sector to share the value of medicinal plants benefits, and a pro-people policy framework will be key to the sustainability of medicinal plant knowledge for the development of fair and dignified public health.

Abstract

Gebang Pesawaran Village is an area that occupies a coastal area and has quite abundant marine products, but the potential for utilization is less than optimal and there is no food made from any of the existing marine products. This research aims to explore the potential of rabbitfish itself and to create local food products that are losng-lasting but still nutritious in Gebang Pesawaran Village. It is also an effort to create a variety of food dishes that do not only depend on one type of ingredient, but also utilize a variety of food ingredients. The product made in this research was serundeng with coconut and rabbitfish as the basic ingredients, which was named Seronang. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The results of the research show that the baronang fish serundeng product is a new food innovation in Gebang Village. This product has passed food chemical test analysis and has a nutritional value information label to make it easier for consumers to consume the product. From the results of chemical food tests, it is known that the nutritional content contained in baronang fish serundeng products includes air content of 5.4481%, glucose 6.1474%, fat 32.8965%, carbohydrates 31.8109%, protein 23.6970%, and vitamins 8.8597%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in Indonesian language instruction at SDN 02 Tamansari, Kerjo, Karanganyar, and to analyze teachers’ and students’ responses to its application. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with an embedded case study design. The main data sources consisted of teachers, students, and instructional documents, collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of the CTL model enhances students’ active participation, strengthens their ability to compose narrative and procedural texts, and fosters a communicative and contextual learning environment. Teachers reported that the model helped them connect the material to students’ real-life experiences. This study contributes to the improvement of Indonesian language learning practices in elementary schools by emphasizing meaningful, contextual, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

Black pepper plantation area in Lampung province (the biggest producer area within Indonesia) has decreased from time to time, which might be related to unfavourable environmental condition. The aim of this study was to assess which environmental factors are positively or negatively correlated with productivity in particular yield of two local varieties of black pepper plant (Natar 1 and Natar 2) in Lampung province.  Two observational studies were carried out in the present study i.e. phenological development and productivity of black pepper productivity in related to various environmental factors. Our results showed that productivity of two varieties were significantly affected rainfall, light intensity and micro humidity. Dry matter yield was positively correlated with rainfall, both in Natar 1 and Natar 2. It was concluded that among environmental factors affecting productivity of black pepper, rainfall intensity was the most influencing factor with a positive relationship with the productivity. Keywords: Black pepper, climate, cultivar, environment, Indonesia
