Abstract

In addition to its widespread use as a culinary spice, white turmeric rhizome (Curcuma zedoaria (Christm.) Roscoe) exhibits important pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antioxidant effects. The rhizome contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, phenols, tannins, and terpenoids, which are believed to contribute to its potential efficacy in treating burns. This study used a fully randomized post-test-only control group design consisting of five treatment groups: P1 (5% ethanol extract of white turmeric rhizome), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), K⁺ (positive control: Bioplacenton), and K⁻ (negative control: Vaseline flavum). Parameters observed included reduction in burn wound diameter and collagen density, which were assessed through histological analysis. The results showed significant differences between treatment groups (p < 0.05). The 10% concentration showed the highest wound healing activity, reaching a healing rate of 54.72% and producing denser collagen compared to the other treatments. However, its effect did not exceed the positive control (Bioplacenton). The 5% concentration showed moderate healing activity (43.84%) with intermediate collagen density, while the 15% concentration produced the lowest effect. Overall, the findings indicate that the ethanol extract of white turmeric rhizome, particularly at a concentration of 10%, enhances burn wound healing and increases collagen formation, supporting its potential as a natural therapeutic agent for the treatment of burns.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify sources of production risk in maize farming, analyze their probability and impact, and formulate appropriate handling strategies in Ketro Village, Karangrayung Subdistrict, Grobogan District. The research method used was descriptive-quantitative with a purposive sampling technique of 30 farmers. Data analysis used coefficient of variation (CV), Value at Risk (VaR), and Z-score, as well as risk mapping in four quadrants. Results showed that caterpillar infestation and heavy rainfall were the dominant risks, while plant diseases and drought were the risks with the greatest impact. A CV of 0.20 indicates relatively low risk in aggregate, but a 50% probability of loss indicates the need for mitigation. Strategies implemented by farmers are generally preventive, while mitigative and adaptive strategies are limited. This study recommends risk quadrant-based strategies to improve maize farming resilience.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Indonesian lifestyle integrating coffee as a part of social activities, along with the stagnation of loyal customers at Harap Kopi since 2021, forms the background of this study. This research aims to analyze the relationship between the marketing mix—which includes product, price, place, and promotion—and the purchase decision of robusta coffee beans in the home industry of Harap Kopi in Tangerang City. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method and convenience sampling technique was employed, involving 50 respondents. The data were analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation. The results indicate that all marketing mix variables have a positive and significant relationship with purchase decisions. Price (r = 0.653) and promotion (r = 0.641) variables show a strong correlation, while product (r = 0.444) and place (r = 0.401) show a moderate correlation.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus (DM) and remains a significant challenge in morbidity, mortality, and disability among diabetic patients. This study aims to identify the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of hospitalized DFU patients at Raden Mattaher General Hospital, Jambi. Method: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at Raden Mattaher General Hospital, Jambi, Indonesia. A total of 31 patients data were collected from the medical records of DFU patients hospitalized at Raden Mattaher General Hospital in 2022. The variables observed were age, sex, residence, comorbidities, type of DM, random blood glucose levels (RBG), amputation rate, mortality, and length of stay (LOS). Results: The mean age of DFU patients was 55.6 ± 12.6 years, with females accounting for the majority (67.7%). Most patients lived outside Jambi City (74.2%), with more than one comorbidity (48.4%). All patients had type 2 diabetes mellitus (100.0%) with RBG level of 303.8 ± 205.8 mg/dL (mean±SD), amputation rate (19.4%), mortality rate (12.9%), and the mean LOS was 10.3 ± 6.9 days. Conclusion: This study indicates that most DFU patients have multiple comorbidities and poorly controlled blood glucose levels, which contribute to a higher risk of amputation, mortality, and prolonged hospitalization.

Abstract

Indonesia’s plural social structure, marked by diversity in religion, ethnicity, culture, and religious perspectives, represents both a social asset and a potential source of tension when not supported by adequate tolerance. The increasing trend of exclusivism, intolerance, and religion-based conflict indicates the urgency of strengthening ethical frameworks capable of fostering harmonious coexistence. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing tolerance values within the Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) perspective and to examine its implications for social harmony in a pluralistic society. A qualitative approach was employed through library research, utilizing secondary data from scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant academic publications. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key concepts related to tolerance, Aswaja principles, and their social manifestations. The findings show that tolerance in the Aswaja framework is grounded in the principles of tasamuh (tolerance), tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), and ta‘adul (justice), which are internalized through cognitive understanding, affective appreciation, and behavioral practice. This internalization process is facilitated by religious education, social-religious activities, and the exemplary role of religious leaders. The study further reveals that the internalization of Aswaja-based tolerance values contributes significantly to the development of mutual respect, the prevention of religion-based social conflict, the strengthening of social solidarity and cohesion, and the reinforcement of national unity. These values function not only as theological principles but also as a socio-ethical foundation for inclusive, peaceful, and civilized social relations in Indonesia’s diverse society.

Abstract

Stunting is a long-term nutritional disorder among children under five that negatively affects physical growth, cognitive performance, and overall human resource quality in later life. Maternal health during pregnancy plays a critical role in the occurrence of stunting, with maternal anemia and low birth weight (LBW) identified as major contributing factors. This study aimed to examine the association between maternal anemia during pregnancy and LBW with stunting among children aged under five in the working area of Metro City. This study employed an observational-analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects consisted of mothers and children aged 24–59 months who met the specified inclusion criteria. A total of 60 respondents were selected using total sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analyses, with the chi-square test to assess the relationships between variables. The findings demonstrated a statistically significant association between a history of maternal anemia during pregnancy and stunting (p = 0.012). Likewise, LBW was significantly associated with stunting (p = 0.004). Children born with LBW and those whose mothers experienced anemia during pregnancy were found to have a higher likelihood of developing stunting compared to children without such risk factors. In summary, maternal anemia during pregnancy and LBW are significantly associated with stunting among children under five. Therefore, stunting prevention strategies should prioritize strengthening antenatal care services, enhancing early detection and management of maternal anemia, and implementing adequate nutritional interventions for pregnant women to reduce the risk of LBW and subsequent stunting.

Abstract

Red cayenne pepper is a horticultural commodity that is a priority for the government's development at this time because it has a high economic value and has the potential to be developed. In March 2023 there was a volcanic ash eruption of Mount Merapi which had an impact on reducing the productivity and quality of red cayenne pepper. Sumberejo Village is one of the areas in Ngablak Subdistrict that conducts red bird's eye chili farming and is affected by the volcanic eruption. This research intends to evaluate chili farming after the eruption of Mount Merapi, which had a negative impact. Thus, this study aims to analyze the revenue, costs, and income, as well as the feasibility of cayenne pepper farming in Sumberejo Village, Ngablak sub-district, Magelang District. The type of research used is Descriptive quantitative. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling with a total sample of 17 respondents. Data collection was done by interview. Data analysis techniques used are revenue analysis, costs, income, R / C Ratio, B / C Ratio, production BEP and price BEP. The results showed that cayenne pepper farming in Sumberejo Village provided revenue of Rp 93,471,342, -/ha/season, total costs of Rp 56,986,742, -/ha/season with the largest cost being fertilizer costs (27.47%), and income of Rp 36,484,600, -/ha/season. The feasibility of farming based on R/C Ratio is 1.64, B/C Ratio is 0.64, while the production BEP is 2,750.9 kg/ha and the price BEP value is Rp 10,130/kg. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that despite being affected by the Merapi volcanic eruption, red bird's eye chili farming in Sumberejo Village still provides positive income and feasible to cultivate.
