Abstract

Indonesia’s plural social structure, marked by diversity in religion, ethnicity, culture, and religious perspectives, represents both a social asset and a potential source of tension when not supported by adequate tolerance. The increasing trend of exclusivism, intolerance, and religion-based conflict indicates the urgency of strengthening ethical frameworks capable of fostering harmonious coexistence. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing tolerance values within the Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) perspective and to examine its implications for social harmony in a pluralistic society. A qualitative approach was employed through library research, utilizing secondary data from scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant academic publications. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key concepts related to tolerance, Aswaja principles, and their social manifestations. The findings show that tolerance in the Aswaja framework is grounded in the principles of tasamuh (tolerance), tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), and ta‘adul (justice), which are internalized through cognitive understanding, affective appreciation, and behavioral practice. This internalization process is facilitated by religious education, social-religious activities, and the exemplary role of religious leaders. The study further reveals that the internalization of Aswaja-based tolerance values contributes significantly to the development of mutual respect, the prevention of religion-based social conflict, the strengthening of social solidarity and cohesion, and the reinforcement of national unity. These values function not only as theological principles but also as a socio-ethical foundation for inclusive, peaceful, and civilized social relations in Indonesia’s diverse society.

Abstract

Stunting continues to be a significant public health concern due to its impact on children’s physical growth and cognitive development. Various prevention strategies have been implemented, particularly through specific nutritional interventions during pregnancy. Nevertheless, evidence regarding the effectiveness of different types of these interventions at the primary health care level is still limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal exposure to specific nutritional interventions during pregnancy and the occurrence of stunting among children under five at Banjarsari Primary Health Center, Metro City. A case-control study design was applied involving 66 pendddents (22 cases and 44 controls) selected from a population of 609 children using stratified random sampling. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, structured checklists, height measurements using a stadiometer, and review of maternal and child health (MCH) records. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-square test. The findings indicated that supplementary feeding (p=0.008; OR=7.8), iron and folic acid supplementation (p=0.007; OR=5.7), iodine-related education (p=0.010), and deworming education (p=0.042; OR=4.6) were significantly associated with stunting. In contrast, caffeine-related education (p=0.701), nutrition counseling (p=0.210), and calcium supplementation (p=0.188) showed no significant association. In summary, nutritional interventions with direct biological effects appear to have a stronger influence on stunting prevention. From a policy perspective, prioritizing high-impact interventions, enhancing adherence through integrated monitoring, and strengthening behavior change strategies are recommended to improve maternal nutrition services and reduce stunting rates.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of social safety-net programs on food security among vulnerable groups, focusing on households with informal workers. Utilizing data from the High-Frequency Monitoring of the COVID-19 Impacts 2020 (HiFy) and estimates with the Longitudinal Propensity Score Matching (LPSM) method, the findings reveal that cash and food assistance significantly reduce food insecurity among informal workers’ households. The households receiving these safety net programs experienced an 8–11% lower probability of food insecurity compared to non-recipients, as indicated by the Average Treatment Effect on the Treated (ATT) value. The study highlights the need for continued investment in inclusive and effective safety net programs to safeguard vulnerable populations, particularly in developing countries with significant informal labor forces.

Abstract

Organic mental disorders are psychiatric conditions caused by identifiable brain pathology or specific systemic diseases, characterized by psychotic, affective, anxiety, and cognitive symptoms that can impair daily functioning. Psychotropic medications play a central role in their management; however, data on utilization patterns, particularly among outpatients in regional psychiatric hospitals, remain limited. This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate the use of psychotropic drugs using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical/Defined Daily Dose (ATC/DDD) method recommended by the World Health Organization, and to identify drugs within the Drug Utilization 90% (DU90%) segment to support rational drug use. This retrospective descriptive study utilized secondary data from medical records of outpatients diagnosed with organic mental disorders at Kolonel H. M. Syukur Regional Psychiatric Hospital, Jambi, in 2024, with a total sampling of 100 patients. The results showed that the total psychotropic drug utilization was 9.89 DDD per patient per day. Antipsychotics were the most frequently used class, followed by antidepressants and anxiolytics. The DU90% segment consisted of eleven drugs, predominantly atypical antipsychotics, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and benzodiazepines, with olanzapine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, and alprazolam being the most commonly prescribed. Most patients were male, in the productive age group, and diagnosed with unspecified organic mental disorders. Overall, the pattern of psychotropic drug utilization reflects the complexity of clinical manifestations in organic mental disorders and underscores the importance of monitoring drug use to promote rational prescribing practices in clinical settings.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by infection with the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb). This bacterium has characteristics that make it difficult to treat, resulting in prolonged TB therapy. Non-adherence to anti-tuberculosis drugs (ATD) may increase the risk of treatment failure in patients diagnosed with pulmonary TB, which in turn can elevate the risk of multidrug resistance (MDR). Method: This study is a descriptive observational research with a cross-sectional design and consisted of 45 participants. The research instrument used was the MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using the Chi-Square test. Result: The results showed that 34 respondents (75.6%) had a high level of adherence, 9 respondents (20%) had a moderate level of adherence, and 2 respondents (4.44%) had a low level of adherence. According to statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test, the significance value for gender and adherence was 0.822, for age and adherence was 0.031, for educational level and adherence was 0.445, and for occupation and adherence was 0.465. Conclusion: The majority of TB patients at Puskesmas Kenali Besar demonstrated a high level of adherence.
