Abstract

Flax/jute is natural fiber plants that that produce fiber from the bark. Ramie fiber has a better quality than the others natural fiber, so it can meet fiber the increase needs cultivar with the best chemical composition of fiber. The aim of this study was to detect the chemical composition of fiber in several clones of ramie from West Sumatera. The study was conducted on December 2018 at the Laboratory of Technology Agriculture Product Andalas University for analyzed the content of chemical composition (water, ash, holocellulose, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin). The result of this study showed that the highest level of water content, ash, hemicellulose, and lignin were found in Situjuah clones those are 40.43, 6.74, 14.39, and 9.98% respectively. Whereas for the highest level of holocellulose and cellulose contents were in Ramindo 1 clone those were 70.23 and 58.46% respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify bioactive compounds of Beauveria bassiana  entomopathogenic fungi derived from insect isolates of Leptocorisa oratorius and endophytic fungi B. bassiana from cocoa plants that have bioactivity as growth boosters.  The research was conducted in the laboratory of Biological Control, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University. The study was conducted for 4 months, using the GCMS method. From the results of the study, bioactive compounds identified as growth boosters of B. bassiana endofyt fungi from cocoa plants are compounds Acetic acid, Ethanoic acid, Ethylic acid, Glacial acetic acid, CH3COOH;  n- Hexadecanoic acid Hexadecanoic acid, Palmitic acid;  9-Octadecenoic acid (2)-(CAS), Oleic acid, Red oil, Oelsaure; octadecanoic acid (CAS) Stearic acid, n-Octadecanoicacid, vanilla; Ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3-ol, (3.,beta.,22 E) – (CAS), Ergosterol (CAS);  while  from the  entomopathogenic B. bassiana fungus from L. oratorius insects  are Acetic acid (CAS), Ethylic acid, vinegar acid, Ethanoic acid, CH3COOH, Dianhydromannitol; Isosorbide, D-Glucitol,1,4-3,6-dianhydro-(+)-D-Isosorbide Devicoran;  Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester (CAS), Methyl palmitate, Uniphat A60;  n-Hexadecanoic acid Hexadecanoic acid, n- Hexadecanoic acid, Palmitic acid; 9-octadecenoic acid, methyl ester, (E)-elaidic acid; 9-octadecanoic acid (Z)-(CAS) , oleic acid, Red oil, Oelsauere; octadecanoic acid, stearic acid, -n-octadecanoic acid, Humko Industrene R; Ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3-ol, (3.beta.,22E)-CAS, Ergosterol (CAS)

Abstract

Bawang Kubis bunga (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) adalah salah satu komoditi sayuran yang bernilai ekonomis. Produksi kubis bunga di Indonesia mencapai 204.238 ton pada tahun 2020. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari hingga Mei 2022 di 3 nagari di Kecamatan Banuhampu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi karakter morfologi dan keragaman pertumbuhan varietas kubis bunga asal Kecamatan Banuhampu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey dengan penetapan lokasi secara sengaja (purposive sampling) yang terdiri dari dua tahap kegiatan yaitu eksplorasi dan karakterisasi. Karakterisasi morfologi dilakukan pada daun dan curd. Eksplorasi yang telah dilakukan berhasil mengkarakterisasi 18 sampel tanaman kubis bunga yang menunjukan variabilitas sempit hingga luas pada karakter daun dan curd sedangkan analisis tingkat kemiripan antar sampel diperoleh nilai koefisisen 42% hingga 100%.

Abstract

Garlic is a horticultural commodity that has high economic value. However, the development of garlic in West Sumatra is still limited due to the difficulty in obtaining quality seeds. Quality seeds can determine production, productivity levels and quality of production. Quality seed is also the key to seed acceptance by farmers. The purpose of community service is to introduce quality seeds to farmer groups in Nagari Sungai Nanam, Solok Regency. Sangga Sembalun seed is one of the short-lived national superior varieties. These seeds are suitable for planting in the agro-climatic conditions of Nagari Sungai Nanam, Solok Regency. Through this community service activity, it is hoped that the seeds can be reused as a source of seeds by farmers. The results obtained from these service activities are farmers giving a positive response to these service activities. Sangga Sembalun variety is accepted as seed to be developed by farmers. The farmer group also planted Sangga Sembalun seeds to be used as a source of seeds by group members for the next planting.

Abstract

Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) is one of the vegetable commodities with high economic value. Cauliflower production in Indonesia reached 204,328 tonnes in 2020. This research was conducted from January to May 2022 in 3 sub-district in Banuhampu district. This study aimed to identify the morphological characters and growth diversity of cauliflower from Banuhampu district. The research method used is a survey method with purposive sampling consisting of two stages of activity, exploration and characterization. Morphological characterization was carried out on leaves and curds. The exploration has been carried out has succeed in characterizing 18 sampel of cauliflower which show narrow to broad phenotypic variability in the characters of leaves and curds, while the analysis of the level of similarity between samples obtained a coefficient value of 42 to 100%.

Abstract

Padi (Oryza sativa L.) adalah salah satu tanaman sebagai konsumsi pokok lebih dari setengah populasi di dunia. Metode mutasi diharapkan mampu meningkatkan keragaman genetik dan hasil diseleksi sesuai yang diinginkan pemulia. Kajian ini memberikan gambaran tentang tren penelitian pemuliaan mutasi pada tanaman padi dari tahun 1962-2023 dengan menggunakan analisis bibliometrik dengan 93 naskah dari pangkalan data Scopus. Sejak tahun 2019-2021 terjadi peningkatan relatif dalam publikasi ilmiah, yang menunjukkan minat yang meningkat pada kajian penelitian pemuliaan mutasi pada tanaman padi khususnya pada subjek area Agricultural and Biological Sciences. Theoretical and Applied Genetics merupakan jurnal yang paling produktif menerbitkan naskah, sedangkan Biotechnology and Biotechnological Equipment memiliki sitasi terbanyak. Negara yang paling produktif dalam publikasi adalah Jepang. Das, B.K. adalah penulis paling produktif, sedangkan institusi yang memiliki jumlah publikasi terbanyak ialah Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, NARO. Tiga klaster yang dibedakan berdasarkan warnanya, dimana lingkaran terbesar yaitu “mutation breeding”, “genetics” dan “nonhuman”. Hampir semua kata kunci penting dalam setiap klaster terkait dengan dua istilah inti (mutation breeding). Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa dinamika penelitian pemuliaan mutasi pada tanaman padi perlu terus pengembangan lebih lanjut baik dalam peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas penelitian dengan pendekatan interdisipliner, kolaborasi internasional, dan keterlibatan berbagai pemangku kepentingan pada bidang tersebut.

Abstract

The corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum Becc.) is an endemic flora of Indonesia that is naturally found only in Sumatra. The status of A. titanum is endangered because of several factors: deforestation, tuber exploitation, long flowering time, and protogyne. Until now, there has been no research about the population and distribution of A. titanum in West Sumatra. This study aimed to obtain information about the population and distribution of A. titanum in West Sumatra, so this research is essential to learn. The research used roaming and snowball sampling methods in Solok Selatan and Sijunjung Regencies in September-October 2022. The research was conducted by recording the coordinates where A. titanum was discovered, marked using GPS, and collecting morphological characteristics. The results showed that exploration in the Solok Selatan District found 19 corpse flower individuals (18 species of A. titanum and one species of A. gigas). In contrast, exploration in Sijunjung Regency managed to found 25 species of A. titanum. The corpse flowers found were in vegetative, dormant, flowering, and fruiting phases. The results help record the number and distribution of A.titanum in West Sumatra. The ex-situ conservation program will use germplasm as propagation material in the future.

Abstract

Hanjeli (Coix lacryma –jobi L) adalah tanaman serealia yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pangan dan pakan. Penelitian eksplorasi dan karakterisasi hanjeli bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi karakter fenotipik hanjeli di Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota sebagai data awal dan untuk pelestarian plasma nutfah hanjeli. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai bulan April 2016, diawali dengan eksplorasi dan dilanjutkan dengan karakterisasi morfologi hanjeli. Data dari setiap sampel dianalisis secara statistik kemudian dibandingkan dengan sampel lainnya. Data morfologi ditampilkan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada 74 aksesi yang diperoleh dari delapan kecamatan di Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota memiliki bentuk batang bulat dengan permukaan licin dan arah tumbuh tegak, daun tanaman hanjeli merupakan daun lengkap, bunga hanjeli merupakan bunga sempurna tidak lengkap karena tidak memiliki bagian calix dan carolla.

Abstract

Tanaman Gambir (Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Robx.) mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti katekin, floursein, asam catechutannat dan quercetin yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pewarna alami, antioksidan, dan biopestisida. Tanaman gambir diperbanyak secara generatif melalui biji sehingga anakan yang dihasilkan memiliki tingkat variabilitas genetik yang tinggi. Teknologi kultur jaringan melalui kultur kalus mampu menyediakan kebutuhan bibit dalam jumlah yang banyak dengan sifat seragam dalam waktu singkat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui konsentrasi 2,4-D terbaik serta pengaruhnya terhadap proses pembentukan dan pertumbuhan kalus eksplan gambir. Desain penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan pemberian 2,4-D yang terdiri dari 5 taraf perlakuan yaitu 0; 0,5; 1; 1,5; dan 2 mg/L. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa eksplan daun gambir mampu membentuk kalus pada seluruh konsentrasi 2,4-D yang diberikan. Terbentuknya kalus tercepat didapatkan pada pemberian konsentrasi 2,4-D 0,5 mg/L pada 17,86 HST dengan warna kalus putih kekuningan sebesar 56,7% dan bertekstur remah sebesar 76,7%.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascolanicum L.) is one of the horticultural crops that is widely consumed by humans. This study aims to obtain interaction the type of mulch and doses of chicken manure on the growth and yield of shallots. This Research was conducted at Panai Pasir Talang , Muara Labuh, South Solok Regency with a height of ± 430 meters above sea level, in December 2018 to February 2019. The research method is an experiments used factorial complete randomized design with two factors. Factors I is the type of mulch (black plastic mulch, silver plastic mulch, rice straw mulch) and factors II is chicken manure (10 tons / ha, 20 tons / ha and 30 tons / ha).. The results showed that there was no interaction between the use of several types of mulch with chicken manure doses on the growth and yield of shallots. The use of black plastic mulch yielded the best results on fresh tuber weight per plot and per hectare of onion namely 1,643 kg / plot and 11.74 tons / ha. The dose of chicken manure of 20 tons / ha gave the best influence on plant height, number of leaves, fresh tuber weight per clump, per plot and per hectare as well as wind dry weight per clump, per plot and per hectare of onion.
