Abstract

Agrarian conflicts in Indramayu between the Indramayu Farmers' Union (STI) and Perum Perhutani are complex issues that involve various parties and different interests related to agricultural land. This research aims to analyze conflict resolution using a communication approach. This study employs a constructive paradigm with a qualitative content analysis method. The research highlights critical strategies, including accurate understanding and effective information dissemination. An in-depth understanding of ownership rights, laws, and regulations is necessary for all parties. Information dissemination through various communication channels, such as open meetings, workshops, and social media, helps reduce misunderstandings and improve transparency. They were second, creating a space for dialogue and active participation of involved parties. Dialogue spaces allow parties to speak openly, listen to perspectives, and seek solutions by involving STI, Perum Perhutani, the government, law enforcement agencies, NGOs, academics, and the community. The creation of dialogue spaces should be inclusive. Furthermore, negotiation and mediation approaches help reach a middle ground. Negotiation allows parties to discuss differences and find mutually beneficial agreements. Mediation, involving a neutral third party, facilitates dialogue and finds solutions acceptable to all parties. This approach focuses on collaboration for sustainable resolution. Finally, a holistic approach involves legal clarification, community empowerment, livelihood diversification, and improved communication. Conflict resolution considers social, cultural, and economic aspects. A combination of conflict resolution strategies can address agrarian conflicts in Indramayu, leading to harmonious agricultural land management and promoting the parties' well-being.

Abstract

This study discusses the reception of lecturers regarding the latest policy news from the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump which was published in the national media in April 2025. Trump issued a policy of increasing import tax rates for foreign countries importing goods into the US. Even though the global situation is not conducive with a series of conflicts between countries, Trump insisted on raising it. The problem is how lecturers accept Trump's  policy of increasing import tax rates. This research aims to explain their reception of Trump’s new trade tax policy. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method through an analytical study of Stuart Hall's reception with three elements; domination, negotiation, and opposition. As the subject of the study, interviews were conducted with informants consisting of lecturers in Jakarta. The results of this study show that most private lecturers in Jakarta are in opposition to Trump's economic policies rather than negotiation and domination. The significance of this research is that there is a spirit of nationalism for every citizen.

Abstract

Abstract:  The use of digital media in marketing communications for goods and services is a necessity, given the rapid development of information technology. However, many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have not yet optimally utilized digital media due to limited knowledge and skills in managing digital marketing communications. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and ability of MSMEs in utilizing digital media as a means of product marketing communications. The service implementation method is carried out through training and mentoring activities held face-to-face in the Semanan Village Hall, Kalideres District, West Jakarta. The activity stages include the presentation of digital marketing communication concepts and theories, interactive discussions, and simple practices for developing marketing communication messages through digital media. The results of the community service show that the training participants demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation throughout the activity, both through question and answer sessions and discussions. Although some participants already had digital media accounts, these accounts had not been optimally utilized due to limited abilities in designing effective marketing messages. After participating in the training, participants gained a better understanding of digital marketing communication strategies and demonstrated readiness to utilize digital media more actively in marketing their MSME products.Abstrak: Pemanfaatan media digital dalam kegiatan komunikasi pemasaran produk barang dan jasa merupakan sebuah keniscayaan seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi. Namun demikian, masih banyak pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) yang belum memanfaatkan media digital secara optimal akibat keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengelolaan komunikasi pemasaran digital. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kemampuan pelaku UMKM dalam memanfaatkan media digital sebagai sarana komunikasi pemasaran produk. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan melalui kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan yang dilaksanakan secara tatap muka di Aula Kelurahan Semanan, Kecamatan Kalideres, Jakarta Barat. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi pemaparan konsep dan teori komunikasi pemasaran digital, diskusi interaktif, serta praktik sederhana penyusunan pesan komunikasi pemasaran melalui media digital. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peserta pelatihan menunjukkan antusiasme dan partisipasi aktif selama kegiatan berlangsung, baik melalui sesi tanya jawab maupun diskusi. Meskipun sebagian peserta telah memiliki akun media digital sebelumnya, akun tersebut belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal karena keterbatasan kemampuan dalam merancang pesan pemasaran yang efektif. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan, peserta memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai strategi komunikasi pemasaran digital dan menunjukkan kesiapan untuk memanfaatkan media digital secara lebih aktif dalam memasarkan produk UMKM mereka.

Abstract

Social media has changed how reporters do their jobs. At first, people used social media to talk to each other and make friends. Social media has replaced radio, newspapers, television, and online news sites as the main way people get their news. This change worries professional journalists because it could make information less accurate, take away editorial control, and change the values of journalism. This study aims to investigate Indonesian journalists' views on the prevalence of social media within the media ecosystem and its effects on journalistic quality. This research utilizes a constructivist framework, incorporating qualitative methodologies and case studies. The study's findings indicate that (1) the evolution of media identity, once a bastion of truth, has transitioned to social media regulated by algorithms; (2) audiences exhibit enhanced autonomy while still being susceptible to deficiencies in information literacy; and (3) digital algorithms now profoundly affect the audience's media experience, necessitating a reevaluation and redefinition of media professionalism in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the South China Sea conflict involving countries in the region. However, it is not limited to those bordering the South China Sea because other superpower countries are also involved, such as the US, Britain, Germany, Canada, Australia, India. The conflict garnered serious attention from Malay media such as kompas.com (Indonesia), bharian.com.my (Malaysia) and mediamediapermata.com (Brunei). This study sought to inspect how Malay media frame the South China Sea conflict using a qualitative-descriptive approach. Using Entman’s model, it focused on root causes, problem causes, moral judgments, and recommendations. As a result, the three media saw China's claims to the South Sea and its abundant natural resources as the root of the problem. Bharian.com.my added that another root of the problem is China's hegemony in the South Seas. For causes of the problem, they agreed on China’s over-aggression and their patrol warships in the South China Sea. In addition, kompas.com and bharian.com added China's policy requiring foreign ships to report if they pass into the South China Sea. Furthermore, kompas.com also saw the different interests of ASEAN countries and the formation of the AUKUS alliance as the cause of the problem. In terms of moral judgments, they agreed on the need to maintain peace, order and security in the South China Sea. As for the recommendation aspect, they encourage compliance with UN conventions. Then, kompas.com and bharian.com.my also considered the importance of diplomacy at the negotiating table.

Abstract

Media sosial telah menjadi sarana utama bagi pemerintah untuk menyampaikan informasi publik, termasuk yang berkaitan dengan sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi komunikasi digital yang diterapkan oleh Humas Pemerintah Kota Jakarta Barat dalam memperluas pemahaman masyarakat tentang teknologi Wolbachia melalui akun Instagram @kotajakartabarat. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode studi kasus serta paradigma post-positivis. Informasi diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan lima narasumber, observasi terhadap konten Instagram, dan dokumentasi yang relevan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi digital dilaksanakan melalui penyajian informasi dalam format visual dan narasi yang mudah dipahami, penyebaran konten secara rutin, serta pengelolaan komunikasi melalui fitur interaksi Instagram. Akan tetapi, partisipasi masyarakat masih terbatas akibat rendahnya tanggapan terhadap komentar dan kurangnya interaksi dua arah. Pemahaman masyarakat yang ada masih cenderung bersifat informatif, belum berjalan partisipatif. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan teori New Media oleh Pierre Levy melalui pendekatan interaksi sosial dan integrasi sosial serta Circular Model of SoMe oleh Regina Luttrell.
