Abstract

Diesel engines are essential for transporting heavy loads, requiring significant engine power. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding PTT (diesel fuel conditioner) additives to Dexlite fuel, focusing on mixtures of D0, D1, and D2. Additionally, variations in fuel pre-heating and engine cooling system fluids are examined. This research employs an experimental approach with descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that the optimal torque occurs with the D2 mixture, achieving 136.57 N·m at 2267 rpm with standard coolant, 152.03 N·m at 2100 rpm with a 50%:50% fluid ratio, and 160.70 N·m at 2033 rpm with a 30%:70% fluid ratio, all without pre-heating. The optimal power values for the D2 mixture are 74.60 HP at 4600 rpm with standard fluid, 75.23 HP at 4100 rpm with a 50%:50% fluid ratio, and 78.03 HP at 4000 rpm with a 30%:70% fluid ratio, also without pre-heating. The average results show that the D1 and D2 mixtures improve torque values by 0.77% and 4.75%, respectively, and enhance power by 0.19% and 1.53% compared to pure Dexlite. In contrast, pre-heating at 50°C, 60°C, and 70°C resulted in a decrease in torque of 1.00%, 2.26%, and 3.62%, respectively, and a reduction in power of 0.56%, 2.29%, and 4.79% compared to normal temperature conditions.

Abstract

An automatic welding machine is a tool used to carry out welding semi-automatically. The welding process is carried out using an Arduino as a microcontroller and a TB6560 driver as a Nema 23 stepper motor driver. Operation of the tool is carried out using Candle software. The tool movement system uses a lead screw and nut block on the Z axis as well as a timing belt and timing pulley to drive the X and Y axes. This machine has dimensions of 1200 mm long, 800 mm wide and 1250 mm high. The research model used is RnD. Tool testing is carried out by giving movement commands in the form of straight lines and circles to determine the accuracy of the movement, then testing is carried out using a welding machine to determine the welding results. Testing was carried out with variations of straight lines with variations of 18 mm, 24 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 36 mm, 42 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm, 125 mm and circle variations of 50 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm. Each variation was tested 3 times to produce an average backlash of 0.250 mm. Automatic welding machine can produce neat and even welds on straight welding, but there are still shortcomings in the results of circular and square welding. Adjustment of welding parameters and settings on the welding machine used needs to be done to improve the quality of the weld results.

Abstract

The community service programme in Karangharjo Village, Rembang Regency, was implemented through a pilot workshop on ship repair as an effort to improve the capacity and technical skills of coastal fishermen. The main problems faced by local fishermen were a lack of understanding of ship diesel engine maintenance, limited access to repair workshops, and the use of manual techniques that risked engine damage. This community service activity was designed with a group-based approach, local potential, and comprehensive intervention, including training in engine maintenance and repair, practical use of workshop equipment, tool management inventory, and the construction of a community-based shipyard workshop. The results of the activity showed an increase in fishermen's skills in performing routine maintenance, managing workshop equipment, and readiness to manage workshops independently. This programme supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water). With the establishment of synergy between universities, village governments, and fishermen's groups, this workshop initiative is expected to increase the independence, business sustainability, and economic resilience of coastal communities.
