Abstract

Background: The teaching of history and civic education, intended to foster national identity, is not fully achieved due to the absence of technological innovation in the instructional communication media used in high schools. Purpose: This research explores the need for ICT among students and teachers as instructional communication media to promote national identity in history and civic education. Method: This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method. The initial design involved an exploratory qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews with teachers and students from four high schools in Malang City, along with documentation from the Kurikulum Merdeka. The data were then analyzed using interactive analysis techniques to understand the information technology and communication needs of students and teachers for simulating national identity in history and civic education. In the next stage, a development approach was carried out to construct a model for instructional communication media that incorporated technological innovation to simulate national identity in history and civic education. Results: The results indicate that instructional communication media for promoting national identity through simulated history and civics education require technological innovation in the form of the NUSANTARA.IN application, which offers. Teaching materials on history and civic education tailored to students’ characteristics, A virtual reality feature that provides students with a virtual learning experience in history and civic education, and User-generated content to build a network among students for learning history and civic education. Conclusion: NUSANTARA.IN, which includes three distinct features, is a technological innovation designed to serve as an instructional communication media, enabling students and teachers to simulate national identity in history and civic education. Implications: The findings from this study contribute to the theoretical advancement of instructional communication media by incorporating concepts such as virtual reality, user-generated content, and student networking in high school education.

Abstract

Abstract This study began on the basis of past events experienced by the Kerokhanian group in Malang City which were related to the dynamics of tyranny that occurred in their social life. This research aims to analyze how forms of tyranny relate to the social conditions of the spiritual group community in Malang City. For this reason, this research uses a qualitative methodology with an explanatory case study analysis method in studying the tyranny of the majority over minority rights. This research found a connection between the past life of the Kerokhanian group and the life they lead today. Regarding the fulfillment of rights and the impact on forms of tyranny from the majority. However, what is still a problem is that this form of tyranny has not completely disappeared and does not happen again after the legalization of the government. This research found that there was tyranny carried out by the majority group against the Kerokhanian group. The perceived tyranny can take the form of rejection by the majority or a form of bad stigma built by the majority group. However, the Kerokhanian group ignored this on the basis of their religious beliefs. In the end, this researcher's findings have the potential to develop a tyrannical process that has an impact on attitudes of inferiority both in institutions and culture and the implementation of rights should be expanded. Ultimately, tyranny should be seen as a form of inferiority towards individuals or groups so that not all tyranny can have a negative impact in every condition. Keywords: Groups, Inferiority, Fulfillment of Rights. Abstract

This qualitative case study aims to assess the contribution of the PSE Commission in alleviating poverty and to analyze PSE institutional strengthening in the success of poverty alleviation priority programs. Institutional strengthening is the key to the sustainability and success of poverty alleviation programs. However, there are studies that show that institutional strengthening through legal aspects, Provincial Drinking Wages and public policies have been effective enough to alleviate poverty. Of the many findings that exist, researchers discovered new things, namely through institutional strengthening in aspects; Structure, HR, Finance, Organizational Funding and Assets, Monitoring and Evaluation, Legality, Data and Information and Collaborative Networks can determine the success of the institution in alleviating poverty and the sustainability of poverty alleviation priority programs. The pattern of the empowerment approach carried out by the government is seen as less touching on the problems of the poor because it is project oriented, while the one carried out by the Catholic Church is oriented towards religious values.

Abstract

This study explores the political entrepreneurship ethics of village heads in setting village development policies and the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study applies a qualitative methodology and observational analysis method with the interview as the main data-gathering technique, discovering musyawarah (deliberation), obedience to regulation, transparency and participation, empathy, priority scale, and Islamic teachings as the principles held by village heads in policy-making. The village heads also draw on musyawarah, obey regulations, and transparency and inclusiveness to avoid conflicts of interest in making policies. Meanwhile, the justification for policy-making is based on regulation and musyawarah. The results of the analysis demonstrate the convergence of political entrepreneurship ethics, namely, adherence to rules and musyawarah, in setting village development policies. They are inseparable from the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings of exploring principles, efforts, and ethical justification of policy-making help to understand the political entrepreneurial actions, which have been left unexplained in the analytical framework of political entrepreneurship as an independent variable. Finally, the context of the pandemic needs to be understood in relation to changes in the policy process. The outbreak can amend the ethical meaning of obeying regulations and musyawarah in setting the village development policies that are implemented by political entrepreneurs. This implies that a pandemic can be considered for its contribution to shaping the ethics of political entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Post-behavioralist critiques are a crucial foundation for changes in previous apolitical political research. Politics should be an academic instrument and a response to humanity’s challenges. Political design seeks to criticize the dominance of the logic of study that prioritizes analytical and objective methods. This study proposes political design as an alternative approach to Political Science, prioritizing creative and design thinking in addressing public problems. This paper identifies the shortcomings of conventional critical thinking approaches and introduces political design as a practical, solution-oriented method through a literature review method, specifically an integrative review. Politics has been redefined as an instrument for power solutions. This study highlights five core principles: promoting solutions for public problems, moving beyond theoretical frameworks to operational implementation, fostering innovation over ordinary resolutions, managing the interests of designers to protect public values, and grounding practice in the awareness of inherent power imbalances. The results present a synthesis of interdisciplinary literature that informs this new approach, while the conclusion discusses its potential contributions to Political Science.

Abstract

Design-based learning (design thinking) and project-based learning (PBL) are innovative approaches that are increasingly relevant in Political Science education to improve students' critical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills. This study evaluates the application of design thinking in a Political Entrepreneurship Course over the past two years at Universitas Brawijaya, involving 145 students as participants. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach to measure changes in students' creative mindsets based on seven elements of design thinking: tolerance of ambiguity, empathy, and problem reframing. The results showed that most students felt comfortable working in complex situations, were able to build empathy for public needs, and produced innovative solutions through design iterations. This approach has proven effective in encouraging active student engagement and creating prototypes that are relevant to real contexts. This study makes a significant contribution to enriching political science pedagogy through the integration of design thinking and PBL and underlines the importance of this approach in training future generations of leaders. The findings recommend strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration and technology integration to support the development of digital-based prototypes.

Abstract

The appearance of Dr. Tirta's participation in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic went viral on social media. This study positions Dr. Tirta as an everyday maker in governance. The aim of this research is to fill the research gap in everyday maker studies, namely exploring everyday makers in a digital context. This research uses an online-based case study method that collects data from online sources. The data analysis technique consists of three stages, namely observation, combining and grouping. This study succeeded in looking at the everyday maker in the digital world, namely the form of work in the digital world and the transformation of the everyday maker concept in the digital space as follows; First, do it yourself reinforcement. Everyday makers no longer need a large number of members to create a movement because they are assisted by the digital context of the virtual world. Second, local coverage from conventional everyday makers who face local problems can now reach things that everyday makers could not reach before. Further discussion is needed regarding the effectiveness of social media for everyday makers, in other words, regardless of the influencer's identity, they do not have social capital.

Abstract

This study explored the practice of village governance (TKPD), particularly the practice of making village development policies during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022) in Malang Regency, East Java. The policy-making was carried out in the village deliberation forum (musdes). This research specifically sought to discover the practice of musdes during the COVID-19 pandemic. It applied a qualitative methodology and an observational analysis method, with the interview as the main data-gathering technique. This study reveals changes in the practice and meaning of musdes in setting village development policies. The pandemic situation has forced the government to drive village development policy options that are not fully in accordance with the needs and demands of villagers. Musdes has changed its meaning. It is no longer a space for consultation and negotiation. Musdes become a non-deliberative forum that functions for clarification and approval of village development policies that have been directed by government and regency regulations.  This finding reinforces previous studies that the village law and implementing regulations experience critical differences from musdes as a deliberation space because it reduces representation of the community and actors who can be involved in decision-making. The exploration of the practice and meaning of musdes during the COVID-19 pandemic adds to the village governance literature, which was different from the situation prior to the pandemic. At that time, the village government still had enough space to accommodate the villagers' demands. This study echoes the state-centered approach to explaining village governance by discovering the government as an obstacle to village governance. This study also contributes to extending village governance literature by proposing the worth of considering an antecedent factor that encourages the government and regency to issue regulations that do not support village governance. The context of the pandemic can explain factors that occurred prior to the issuance of government regulation, which then hindered village governance.

Abstract

Kewirausahaan politik menurut pandangan Petridou (2016) dibagi menjadi empat aspek utama, yakni Who, How, Where dan Impact.
