Abstract

Abstract

Background: The development of society during the Ayyubid Dynasty marked a significant phase in the history of Islamic civilisation following the decline of the Fatimid Dynasty. Founded by Salahuddin al-Ayyubi, this dynasty is recognised not only for its success in confronting the Crusades but also for its role in establishing a more stable social, economic, and religious order. Objective: This study aims to analyse the dynamics of societal development and the factors influencing it. Method: The research employs a historical method with a qualitative approach, analysing primary and secondary sources, including chronicles, administrative documents, literary works, travel records, and archaeological and numismatic findings. Results: The findings indicate that political stability contributed to stronger governance and the enforcement of law. In the economic sector, the development of agriculture, trade, and craft industries enhanced public welfare. Support for education through madrasas and bimaristans also promoted intellectual growth. Conclusion: This study concludes that the Ayyubid Dynasty succeeded in shaping a stable and productive society. Contribution: This research serves as a scholarly reference for understanding the socio-economic and intellectual development of Muslim societies during the Ayyubid period, and provides a historical foundation for further studies in Islamic civilisation.

Abstract

Perennialism encompasses fundamental concepts that significantly influence Islamic religious education. This study examines perennialism as a philosophical framework and its contributions to Islamic education. This study examines the concepts of significant perennialist thinkers such as Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Frithjof Schuon, and Ananda Coomaraswamy through a qualitative literature review. The findings indicate that perennialism emphasises the universality of spiritual truth, the integration of divine knowledge, and the significance of tradition in Islamic education. This approach prioritises the development of inner spirituality and moral values over contemporary secular education. The study posits that Islamic education must revise its curriculum to align with perennialist concepts.

Abstract

The development of soft skills has become a crucial component of contemporary higher education, especially in terms of preparing graduates for social and professional life. Soft skills are closely linked to both employability and the development of moral character based on Islamic principles in the context of Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). The purpose of this study is to examine the opportunities, difficulties, and methods used in PTKI to help students develop their soft skills. Lecturers, faculty leaders, and students from various institutions, such as IAIN Kendari, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari, IAIN Madura, UIN Datokarama Palu, IAIN Pare-Pare, and IAIN Bone, participated in in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach. The results show that classroom discussions, academic presentations, project-based learning, student organizations, and community service all contribute to the development of soft skills. They are still not systematically integrated into the curriculum, and cognitive outcomes are still given priority in evaluations, which limits the effectiveness of soft skills development in students. There are strategic opportunities for a more comprehensive PTKI education model by strengthening the integration of digital learning and Islamic values, which can enhance both soft skills and cognitive outcomes in students.
