Abstract

Oil palm as the plantation commodities that economically promising, has encouraged extensification, such as in Dharmasraya, Tiumang District, Sipangkur Village. The Tunas Jaya Women Farmers Group (WFG) in Sipangkur Village has been formed since 2019, but its role and function still on a household scale and not optimal in managing oil palm plantation waste due to lack of knowledge and technology. The objective of this community service was to empower the Tunas Jaya WFG to optimize the existence of oil palm plantations, by managing oil palm plantation waste to be as organic fertilizer (compost). This community empowerment began with dissemination, counseling, followed by demonstrations and assistance in making compost from oil palm fronds and empty oil palm bunches (EFBs). Furthermore, monitoring and evaluation are carried out for 3 months after it. During the dissemination, participants actively discussed about the proper composting techniques. The response and enthusiasm of them showed that this program had succeeded in increasing their curiosity about the importance of managing oil palm plantation waste to have added value. During the demonstration and assistance activities for making compost, the farmer groups were assisted and guided by the community service team, such as in the chopping of fronds and EFBs. Application of the proper composting technique will provide of effectiveness and efficiency of resources. In addition, compost can be a substitute of synthetic/chemical fertilizers and supports the ecosystem sustainability. The enthusiasm of the farmer groups and the community, as well as the successful of independent compost production are evidence and indicators of the successful of this community service activity.

Abstract

The area of oil palm plantations in Dharmasraya Regency is not in line with the amount of production obtained by farmers. This is due to the large number of parthenocarpic fruits caused by the few pollinators and male flowers, so the pollination process in oil palm plantations is not optimal. This activity aims to train farmers in Koto Beringin Village, Tiumang District. The activity method is carried out through counseling and demonstration plots on applying hatch & carry techniques for Elaeidobius kamerunicus to improve the pollination process so that oil palm production can increase. In this activity, farmers are expected to be able to produce products in the form of oil palm pollen and Elaeidobius kamerunicus breeding cages. From the activities that have been carried out, it is known that farmers' knowledge of hatch & carry techniques for Elaeidobius kamerunicus is still very minimal. Through counseling and demonstration plot activities, farmers have been able to breed Elaeidobius kamerunicus and collect oil palm pollen. From the results of observations in people's oil palm fields, it is known that after the application of the Hatch & Carry technique was carried out, there was an increase in the number of Elaeidobius kamerunicus pollinators from 524 individuals/Ha to 21,137 individuals/Ha and will continue to increase if the application of the Hatch & Carry technique continues to be carried out. If farmers apply the hatch & carry technique of Elaeidobius kamerunicus correctly, it can increase the number of pollinators that play a role in pollination.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The village of Sukoharjo in Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency, has natural potential, including rice fields, fertile lands along the Bengawan Solo River, and an abundance of fruit crops such as crystal guava, water guava, avocado, longan, starfruit, and honey jackfruit. The village also has natural resources like oil wells and cultural heritage in the stories of Joko Popok and Mbok Rondo Mori. This potential, however, has not been fully utilized for developing a tourist village that could serve as an income generator for the local community. This community service program aims to implement the Sukoharjo-Bojonegoro Tourist Village Upskilling-Upgrading Program through the 3ED Program (Edu-Etno-Eco-Digital Tourism). “Upskilling” involves enhancing the skills of stakeholders and villagers in managing tourism potential, while “upgrading” focuses on improving the systems, procedures, and operations of the tourist village to be more efficient and effective. Upskilling and upgrading village tourism will create opportunities to stimulate the local economy, increase village income and welfare, expand employment opportunities, and contribute to poverty reduction. This program has produced five tourism packages, tested with kindergarten/RA and elementary/MI students: Edutourism 1, Edutourism 2, Ed-tourism 3, Ecotourism, and Ethnotourism. To strengthen the online marketing of these tourism packages, the community service team organized digital marketing training for village officials, women's tourism groups, and youth organizations.
