Abstract

This study aims to determine the kinetics of the saponification reaction in making solid soap from wasted cooking oil and its effect on the quality of the solid soap produced. The novelty of this study lies in evaluates the effect of different NaOH concentrations and reaction durations on the the kinetic model with quality parameters (free fatty acid, free alkali content, and pH) to demonstrating that a pseudo second order reaction mechanism contributes to superior soap characteristics. The method begins with the refining of wasted cooking oil using activated carbon, making solid soap from refined oil with variations in NaOH concentrations of 1; 1.5; and 2 M in 30; 45; and 60 minutes. Determination of reaction kinetics was carried out by titrimetry and testing the quality of solid soap with parameters of free fatty acid content, free alkali, and degree of acidity (pH) based on SNI 3532-2021. The results showed that the saponification reaction followed 2nd order pseudo kinetics. This is supported by the value of the reaction constant reaching 1.0995 min-1 and the coefficient of determination R2= 0,9954. The optimum variation of solid soap obtained is 2 M NaOH concentration in 60 minutes. Soap products produced through pseudo second-order reaction kinetics have high quality with a white appearance, no rancid odor, smooth and soft texture. This is evidenced by the parameters of free fatty acid and free alkali content of 0.1126% and 0.016%. The degree of acidity (pH) of the solid soap produced is also in the range of 9.5-10. All of these parameters have met the criteria for solid soap according to SNI 3532: 2021.

Abstract

This mini-research aims to comprehensively analyze the optimization of the role of all school members and the involvement of parents/guardians in the implementation of positive culture (budaya positif) in an urban primary school setting, specifically at SDN 1 Kota Baru, Bandar Lampung. The study is motivated by the fundamental transformation in Indonesian national education through the Merdeka Curriculum, which positions character building as a main pillar, realized through the Profile of Pancasila Students. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Headmaster's policy and support are crucial, but the effectiveness of collaboration between the school and parents in the urban context is not yet optimal. The implementation of positive culture, including the use of restitution and positive discipline, is understood and practiced by teachers, but factors such as limited educational staff and complex external influences pose specific challenges. The study concludes that optimalization requires a responsive model that addresses the urban context, focusing on effective coordination among school components and enhanced, consistent collaboration with parents to ensure the uniformity of values between school and home environments.

Abstract

This study addresses the gap in the availability of psychometrically tested, context-specific instruments for elementary education. The objective was to develop and validate a specialized, practical, and reliable assessment instrument for school-based performance evaluation. This study contributes to providing a validated and practical instrument specifically designed for elementary school contexts. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach following the ten-stage model of Borg and Gall, including needs analysis, framework development, expert validation, revision, and field testing. The instrument was constructed based on a five-dimensional competency framework and evaluated through expert judgment (content, language, media) and empirical testing involving 120 teachers from ten elementary schools in one subdistrict. Psychometric analysis was conducted using Aiken’s V for content validity, Cronbach’s Alpha for reliability, and user-response questionnaires for practicality. The results showed that all 50 items achieved high content validity (Aiken’s V ≥ 0.80) and excellent reliability (α = 0.888). The practicality level reached 97%, indicating that the instrument is highly feasible, efficient, and effective for real supervisory use. The study concludes that the developed instrument is psychometrically sound and practically applicable, providing principals with an objective and multidimensional tool to support academic supervision and data-driven professional development.
