Abstract

The importance of critical thinking skills for students in the study of chemistry, it is necessary to appropriate learning models that can involve students directly in making students active learning and improve students' critical thinking skills. One model that can be applied is discovery learning model learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in critical thinking skills of students learning through discovery learning. This study was an experimental study design with nonequivalent pretest-Posttes Control Group Design. The subjects of the study involves two classes of experimental class and control class. Data collection instruments in the form of test critical thinking skills in the form of matter description. Statistical testing using independent sample t-test were previously tested for normality, homogeneity test at the 0.05 significance level. The results showed no difference in the increase in critical thinking skills in each of the indicators of critical thinking skills.Keywords: Discovery learning, critical thinking skills

Abstract

research on the phytochemical screening of extracts of fruit powder beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L). The aims study was determine the content of chemical compound in extract beans that had undergone a process of heating at high temperature and has been stored in a specified time. Classified of chemical compounds would be included flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, saponins, tannins, steroids and triterpenoids. Results of phytochemical screening showed bean extract contains the chemical compound class of flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids. Keyword: Phytochemic al screening, bean fruit extracts

Abstract

The aims of this study were to generate 5E learning cycle model student’s work sheet wich suitable to be implemented on subject matter of the reduce-oxidace rections at class X. The method used in this study was according to the model of 4D development were Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The results of limited testing by 6 students and 2 teacher’s chemistry of MAN 1 Mataram and results of the expert validation by 3 validators showed that 5E learning cycle model student’s work sheet was very suitable to be used with scores 3,36, 3,37, dan 3,33 on scale 1-4Keywords: Student’s Work Sheet, 5E Learning Cycle Model

Abstract

This research was aimed to identify some classes of secondary metabolite compound on the fractionation results of green bean extract (P. vulgaris L.) using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) method. Green bean was extracted by methanol solvent. Fractionation of methanol extract used Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (VLC) with some variation of eluents such as n-hexane 100%; n-hexane: ethyl acetate (9 : 1 to 1 : 9); and ethyl acetate 100%, produced 11 major fractions.  Based on Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) analysis using DCM: MeOH (9.5: 0.5) as mobile phases, these 11 major fractions were classified based on their polarity such as non-polar, semi-polar and polar fraction. The results of identification by GC-MS spectrometer showed the presence of secondary metabolites such as monoterpenes in non-polar fraction; in semi-polar fraction was found terpenoids and steroids; in polar fraction was found monoterpenes, phenolic and steroid as the lowest percent area, that is less than 2%. Keyword: P.vulgaris L extract, fractionation, VLC, GC-MS

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi guru Kimia SMA/MA Negeri di Lombok Timur terhadap LKPD bermuatan etnosains pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu guru yang mengajar Kimia di SMA/MA Negeri yang  terdapat di Lombok Timur. Metode yang digunakan untuk pengambilan sampel yaitu  metode purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah guru Kimia SMA/MA Negeri di Lombok Timur sebanyak 24 orang. Pengambilan data persepsi guru Kimia terhadap LKPD bermuatan etnosains dengan menggunakan angket tertutup skala likert. Persepsi guru terhadap LKPD bermuatan etnosains dilihat dari 3 aspek yaitu aspek teknis, isi dan konstruk. Persepsi guru terhadap aspek teknis LKPD bermuatan etnosains berada pada kategori persepsi baik dengan rerata (mean) sebesar 18,92. Persepsi guru terhadap aspek isi LKPD bermuatan etnosains berada pada kategori persepsi sangat baik dengan rerata (mean) sebesar 36,42 dan persepsi guru terhadap aspek konstruk LKPD bermuatan etnosains berada pada kategori persepsi baik dengan rerata (mean) sebesar 32,2.Kata Kunci:   Persepsi, LKPD, etnosains, elektrolit dan non elektrolit.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims at (a) mapping of the results of National Examinantion of Senior High Schools in Mataram City, West Lombok Regency and North Lombok Regency, (b) finding out the sources of possible problems, (c) providing recommendation for solutions, and (d) designing solution models. Data are collected in two levels: for English National Examination mapping, all 52 schools are analyzed; while for finding out the sources of problems and recommendation, only 12 schools involved as samples, the selection of which employ purposive quota sampling technique, by considering types of schools (government and private), location (city or country), achievement/rank in national Exam (high or low). The data are collected using triangulation techniques such as documentary, questionnaire for schools and for teachers, observation, probing test, and focus group discussion (FGD). The collected data are then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. From the analysis, it is concluded that (i) the mastery of English subject tends to increase from 2008 to 2009 and 2010; (ii) There are at least 10 indicators on Listening and 14 indicators on Reading whose achievement is under 60% and regarded as problematic indicators to the students for 3 years; (iii) Factors causing those problems are KTSP and 8 National Standards of Education in most schools have not been implemented and fulfilled optimally, caused by various factors; (iv) From the analysis of factors influencing the improvement of quality at SMAs, one of the major problems is teachers capability in relation to other Standards (Content, Process, Assessment, Facilities and Teachers Development). Solving teachers’ problems are expected to solve other problems; (v) It is, therefore, that in order to improve the quality of education in Senior High Schools in the targeted regions, the solution model offered is the empowerment of English teachers at the targeted regions.Keywords: National Exam, Senior High School, solution recommendation

Abstract

Kemampuan menbaca dan menentukan struktur senyawa organik sangat penting bagi alumni dan calon guru kimia. Materi penentuan struktur senyawa organik sangat komplek dan bersifat abstrak. Selama masa kuliah, mata kuliah ini jarang diminati mahasiswa. Contoh yang diberikan dalam perkuliahan fokus pada spektrum pada handout atau teks book. Namun, mahasiswa kesulitas ketika mahasiswa diminta untuk membaca dan menentukan rumus suatu senyawa melalui spektrum hasil penelitian. Tentu hal ini disebabkan karena kurangnya pemahaman dan pengalaman mahasiswa dalam membaca spektrum hasil uji. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, perlu suatu upaya dari dosen meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran penentuan struktur senyawa organik. Dengan memberikan contoh cara penentuan struktur senyawa organik dari hasil penelitian, diharapkan dapat memberikan kesadaran dan pemahaman kepada mahasiswa tentang proses penyelidikan kimia dalam penentuan struktur senyawa organik. Hal ini akan meningkatkan kebermaknaan perkuliahan penentuan struktur senyawa organik.

Abstract

Ethnopedagogy can be an effective tool for connecting science and culture through learning with an ethnopedagogy approach. However, from the results of observations and interviews with teachers and students at SMAN 1 Pujut Central Lombok, learning with an ethnopedagogy approach is not yet known even though in the area there are many cultural varieties that have the potential to be a source of learning chemistry or science. The main problem is in the limited knowledge and experience of teachers so it is necessary to carry out socialization activities. This socialization activity was attended by 30 Chemistry and Science teachers from 9 schools in Pujut district, Central Lombok. The success of socialization activities is measured by the response of teachers using questionnaires for 4 (four) indicators, namely: 1) ethnopedagogy knowledge, 2) knowledge of learning with ethnopedagogy, 3) the ability to connect ethnopedagogy in learning, and 4) the application of learning with ethnopedagogy. Based on the results of the teacher's response analysis, it is known that the teacher's knowledge of ethnopedagogy is getting better (83.3%), the teacher's understanding of learning with an ethnopedagogy approach is also getting better (83.3%), the ability to connect ethnopedagogy with learning is very good (66.7%), and the experience of applying learning with an ethnopedagogy approach is getting easier (83.3%). Thus, it can be concluded that socialization activities for teachers in Pujut Sub-district of Central Lombok have been carried out well and can increase teachers' knowledge and understanding of learning with an ethnopedagogi approach. It is hoped that schools can facilitate teachers to be able to increase their knowledge so that they are able to apply learning that integrates the surrounding culture in their respective schools so that learning is more meaningful and fosters an attitude of cultural care for students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan modul kimia etnosains terintegrasi model Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) yang layak dan praktis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian & pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE. Uji coba terbatas pada penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 31 peserta didik kelas XI MIPA di SMAN 1 Pujut. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan uji validitas pada tiga ahli dan angket respon peserta didik. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan aspek isi sebesar 0,81 kategori sangat valid, aspek penyajian sebesar 0,79 kategori valid, aspek bahasa sebesar 0,79 kategori valid, aspek tampilan sebesar 0,81 kategori sangat valid dan aspek orientasi etnosains-CRTT sebesar 0,87 kategori sangat valid. Respon peserta didik pada aspek tampilan sebesar 3,49 kategori sangat baik, aspek materi sebesar 3,46 kategori sangat baik, aspek bahasa sebesar 3,46 kategori sangat baik dan aspek motivasi 3,50 kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan LKPD IPA SMP berbasis etnosains terintegrasi Culturally Responsive Transformative Teaching (CRTT) yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian Research and development (R&D) dengan model 4D digunakan untuk mengembangkan LKPD IPA SMP dengan mengangkat budaya masyarakat Lombok yaitu: desa adat Sade, sembeq, tenun dan pembuatan gula aren, yang relevan dengan konsep materi dan perubahan dan terintegrasi dengan model CRTT. Validasi konten oleh 3 orang ahli bidang pembelajaran IPA digunakan untuk menguji kelayakan LKPD, dan tanggapan guru serta siswa terhadap LKPD digunakan untuk menguji kepraktisannya. Semua data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan teknik persentase untuk mendapatkan kesimpulan tentang kelayakan LKPD. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa LKPD IPA yang dikembangkan termasuk katagori sangat layak digunakan (87,29%) dan berdasar respon guru (91,47%) maupun siswa (88,78%), LKPD IPA dinilai sangat praktis dan menarik. Berdasarkan hasil ini disimpulkan bahwa LKPD IPA SMP berbasis etnosains terintegrasi CRTT layak dan praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA di SMP.
