Abstract

Agricultural extension as part of the national life (especially farmers) and promote the general welfare is one of the keys to success for strengthening farmer groups. The purpose of this research were: 1) To analyze the cost of production of paddy rice farming in the village SihepengSiabu District Mandailing Natal Regency of North Sumatera Province. 2) To analyze the income of rice farmers in the village Sihepeng Siabu District Mandailing NatalRegency was conducted in the village Sihepeng Siabu District Mandailing Natal Regency began in May through July 2015. The method used in this study is a survey and sampling techniques disproportionately stratified Random Sampling. The sampling of 50% of the population, consisting of beginner classes as much as 54 (fifty-four) advanced classes as much as 9 (nine) farmers. The results showed the average total cost of production of 0.1-1 ha land area amounting to Rp 3,321,868 and the average total cost of production land area> 1 ha Rp 18,840,333 total net income received by farmers with land area 0,1-1 Rp 545 132 800 ha with an average income of Rp 8,016,659. Total net revenues received by farmers with land area of> 1 Ha Rp 638 586 400 with an average net income of Rp 42,572,427. Comparison of the results of the income of farmers with an area of 0.1-1 ha of rice field and> 1 ha much greater level of income of farmers in land area> 1 ha due to differences in the area of land owned by farmers. Results expected that the income of farmers in the village Sihepeng better to have a land area of 0.2 ha to be more efficient in the utilization of paddy fields in the village Sihepeng.

Abstract

Pineapple is the most widely cultivated commodity in Dumai City. The problem faced is the simultaneous harvest which caused the price of pineapple to drop drastically. To overcome this by making pineapple in order to get added value. The development of the current consumption pattern of the community makes the opportunity and threat to the development of pineapple dodol agroindustry in Dumai City. This study aims to analyze the development of pineapple dodol agroindustry in Dumai City as well as to know the amount of profit, efficiency and added value. One effort to know the right strategy for the development of pineapple dodol agroindustry is SWOT analysis. In the SWOT analysis, there are internal environmental analyzes that are Strength and Weakness and external environment analysis that is Opportunity and Threats. SWOT analysis shows that pineapple dodol agroindustry of Dumai City in quadrant I is a favorable situation. Agroindustry has the opportunity and power so that it can take advantage of existing opportunities. The strategy adopted under these conditions is to support an aggressive growth policy.The results showed the average production of pineapple dodol agroindustry of Dumai City amounted to 60.67 kg per month with a profit of Rp.2.003,847,86 per month. Efficiency of business to get value RCR> 1 is 1.78 which means that this agroindustry profitable if passed. While the added value of each kilogram of pineapple is Rp. 29,579.45. SWOT analysis shows that pineapple dodol agroindustry of Dumai City in quadrant I is a favorable situation. Agroindustry has the opportunity and power so that it can take advantage of existing opportunities. The strategy adopted under these conditions is to support an aggressive growth policy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of motivation and satisfaction to the performance of broilers involved in contract farming and to analyze the influence of motivation and satisfaction on the performance of broiler farmers in contract farming partnerships. This study uses primary and secondary data. Secondary data was obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and primary data was collected by questionnaire to 40 respondents using convenience sampling techniques. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The validity and reliability of the data was tested using SPSS 23. Quantitative data is the interpretation of the likert scale and the interpretation of multiple linear regressions with SPSS 23 include: coefficient of determination, test F and test T. For motivation variables obtained an average score of 3.19 which indicates that farmers feel quite motivated in collaboration with the core company. On the variable satisfaction has an average score of 3.59 indicates that the farmer is satisfied during partnering. On the performance variable the score value is 3.18 indicating that the farmer has a pretty good relationship with the company. Multiple regression results showed that the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.648, meaning 64.8 percent of motivation and satisfaction variables significantly affected the performance of broiler chicken breeders, while the remaining 35.2 percent were influenced by other variables outside the equation model.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are: (1) analyze the performance of extension workers from (Competence, Roles, Independence, and Social) (2) analyze the level of empowerment independence of farmer. The research conducted in Indragiri Hilir regency Kempas, Batang Tuaka and Keritang district. Samples taken with population and purposive sampling, with 156 independent smallholder sample from farmer group and  42  sample from agricultural extension. Data analysis used likert scale. Conclusion (1) The performance of extension worker who has been running in the field of rice farming business in Indragiri Hilir regency has been running "Good". Already carrying out the task of counseling with its own ability, the indicators that affect the performance as a role (2) Level empowerment of rice farmers in Indragiri Hilir regency after the overall performance of agricultural extension in the category "Power" has been running well, indicators that affecting human resources. The independence of rice farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency has good overall extension performance in the "Independence" category. Indicators that greatly affect Social Self-reliance.

Abstract

The relation of the patron clients is exchange relations between the two the role which can be expressed as a special case from the bonds of friendship that involves instrument where an individual with a higher social economy (patron) using the influence and his resources to provide a shelter, as well as the advantages for a person with a position he assumed to be lower (clients). The purpose of this reseaerch is to identify internal and external characteristic of rice farmers at bunga raya district, to identify the relation of the patron-clients in agribusiness rice fields at bunga raya district, and analyzes the relationship between characteristic of farmer to the patron client to agribusiness rice fields at bunga raya district. This research took place in Bunga Raya District of Siak Regency from March to December 2017.Survey method was used in this research with purposive as sampling technique. The results showed that the internal characteristics of farmers in Bunga Raya Subdistrict, on the age, land area and cosmopolitan variables are in the medium category, education in the low category, the number of family dependents and the length of experience in the high category. The external characteristics of farmers in Bunga Raya Subdistrict on extension intensity and accuracy of extension channels in the very high category, the number of sources of information, affordability of production input prices and the availability of inputs in the high category. Patron client relationship on the highest agribusiness subsystem is on the processing subsystem in the medium category. The relationship between patron-client on the characteristics of internal farmers is significant on the correlation that occurs between the procurement subsystem and the distribution of production facilities with the age variable and the business experience variable is a unidirectional correlation. The correlation between the primary production subsystem and the business experience variable is a weak direct correlation. Correlation between supporting subsystems with the experience variable is a weak unidirectional correlation. The correlation between processing subsystems and cosmopolitan variables is a weak direct correlation. The relationship between client patrons on external characteristics is significant in the correlation that occurs between marketing subsystems with the availability of input and is a weak direct correlation. The correlation between the procurement subsystem and the distribution of production facilities with the affordability of input production prices is a weak inverse correlation.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyzed marketing mix on agroindustrialof pineapple chips in Kualu Nenas Village based on 1) variables of marketing mix, 2) sales volume. This study used survey method with 14 pineapple chips maker as respondents which is they selected by sensus method. Data analyzed using descriptive analysis, analysis of the coefficient of determination (R2), simultaneous test (F test), partial test (t test), and multiple regressions analysis. The results of this study showed that five variables of the marketing mix, entirely in the category "Pretty Good". The affected variables of marketing mix on volume of sales is variable of product (X1) 123.21 and distribution (X5) 0.052. The author’s suggestion to the pineapple chips maker are to be able to utilize the Internet as a media campaign, maintains the certificates present on the packaging and make arrangement stall as attractive as possible.

Abstract

Opinion leader is a person who becomes an opinion leader in a group/sub-group. Opinion leaders in farmer groups are indicated by the presence of individuals who have more number of communication relationships than the average number of communication relationship of other individuals in the communication network. Interpersonal communication is considered the most effective in an effort to change a person’s attitude, opinion, or behavior because of its dialogical nature in the form of conversation. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of opinion leader interpersonal communication on rubber farmers in Batu Bersurat village, XIII Koto Kampar District, Kampar Regency. This research was used is descriptive analysis. The samples in this study were taken from the Sungai Kulim farmer group and the Sungai Gulamo farmer group, namely as many as 20 samples of members of the Sungai Kulim farmer group and as 22 samples of members of the Sungai Gulamo farmer group with a total sample of 42 samples. The results showed that interpersonal communication between actors IW, YS and AU with independent rubber farmers in Batu Bersurat Village was effective. Communication between IW, YS and AU actors and farmers is very well established, this supported by an open attitude to each other, mutual respect (positive behavior) and mutual support (supportive) in the application of information related to rubber development. Actors IW, YS and AU as opinion leaders have empathy for independent rubber farmers in Batu Bersurat Village and feel there is no difference between them.

Abstract

The concept of the factors that influence the behavior of farmers in receiving Operasi Pangan Riau Makmur program (OPRM) needs to be done to determine the most significant effect on the program’s accepting. The designing of a model before the implementation of a program, is expected to minimize the unusable things in reality. Modeling analysis SEM (structural equation model) which is used in behavior of farmer’s research designed so as to find a suitable model. Three exogenous variables used in this research, the characteristics of farmers, extension of competence, and competence of the management of farmer groups. Each of these exogenous variables formed by eight indicators, so it is could explain that the skills, systematic program delivery, mastery of the program, and time management, are not included in the indicator models that is affecting the behavior of farmers as endogenous variables, to accept or deny the existence of the program. Farmer behavior is further analyzed the suitability of the model with the independence of farmers. Suitability models were constructed and analyzed is expected to be used by the government or related agencies, before involving the farmers as participants.

Abstract

Forest and community land fires are national disasters that often occur in Indonesia. These forestand land fires are actually the problem inherited from peat management in the past. Variety ofefforts have been conducted to overcome this land fire, both those carried out by the governmentand non-governmental organizations. Many things cause land fires, including economic, social andcultural factors of customs and traditions. For this reason, active participation from the communityis needed. This study aimed to identify activities or programs that have been and are being carriedout in controlling land fire in Tanjung Peranap Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat Subdistrict, KepulauanMeranti District, both carried out by non-governmental organizations and the government. By usingin-depth interview method, it was found that several activities and programs for land firemanagement are establishing fire-caring communities (MPA), farming with intercropping methods,empowering idle land (as much as 200 ha) into productive agricultural land, pilots the project of thepeat restoration agency (BRG) and IPB, utilizing local wisdom namely abu uyung to open farmland.

Abstract

Farm yard use is an innovation for farmers, while farmers' perceptions of innovationcharacteristics greatly influence the sustainability of the farm yard. The purpose of thisstudy is to determine the perceptions of farmers about farm yard use in the Kerinci District.The study was done by survey, where interviwed to 30 respondents, used simple randomsampling tecnique. The results showed that the perception of the farmers is very good. Thisis indicated by the number of scores obtained in the amount of 1,381. Judging from therelative advantage by farmers, farming is highly beneficial both in terms of consumptionand in terms of the economy. The farmers also found it is quite suitable for farming on theirland. It can be seen from the results of their production is quite good, the perceived level ofcomplexity is lowest. This is because most of the respondents said that it is not only veryeasy to implement farm yard, but also they have farming experience before joining theprogram.Key word: Farm yard, innovation, perception,
