Abstract

The objectives of the research are: (1) to determine the role of agricultural extension upon independent small holder farmers of palm oil, (2) to figure out the empowerment level the farmers, and (3) to analyze the influence of the extension’s role upon the farmers’ empowerment. The research was carried out in sub district of Bonai Darussalam Rokan Hulu district. 45 farmers were selected by using purposive sampling method and were interviewed as the respondents as well. Validity and reliability analysis have been done upon questionnaire. To answer the objective 1 and 2, analysis of Likert Scale Summated Rating (SLR) was utilized and in order to answer the objective 3, multiple regression analysis was used. The results shows: (1) The role of extension has shown quite significant role in the activities of  the farmers, which consist of the role of extension as education, the dissemination of information/innovation, facilitation, consultation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation; (2) the empowerment level of the farmers is well enough consisting of a non-human resource, productive economy, and institutional; (3) the role of extension that has significant influence upon the farmers empowerment is the role extension as evaluation, meanwhile the role of extension as a education, dissemination, facilitation, consultation, and supervision have no significant influence. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of farmer group dynamics and determine the strategy that is done in a dynamic farmer groups. Sampling was done intentionally, in which 36 people used as respondents from the three groups of farmers in the village of Air Terbit. The results of this study indicate that the rate is determined based on the analysis of the dynamics farmer groups SLR in the village of Air Terbit have moderate criteria with a score of 1.93, it can be seen from the moderate or lack of effort in growing group activities, participation, effectiveness of group responsibility, norms, and sanctions on the group, resulting in a lack of development and building of farmer groups and SWOT analysis determined based strategy in the dynamic group that is an increase of information through a group that supports the promotion of enterprise inputs, farmer group achievement awards, good administration and the right, facilitating the group in order to carry out the functions and good job, get coaching and become better maintenance group, have a strong cohesiveness, conducive atmosphere, adequate pressure, the effectiveness of both groups and improve the existing human resource education through regular training in farmer groups. Abstract

Land fires in Rokan Hilir still occur every year, especially during the dry season. Which one of area who fired-prone land is village of TanjungLeban, district of Kubu regency of  Rokan Hilir. The purpose of this study was to analyze perception farmers of palm oilof the burning land in of social aspects. This study was conducted in February-August 2015. The results showed fires in district of Kubu mainly caused Social factors: lower of public education, lower of participation by local people to prevent the forest fires, while the indicator of the relationship between citizens, do not be a factor fires in Village of Tanjung Leban district of Kubu. Efforts are being madepublicto prevent fires wason a routine patrol, cleaning ditchesand drainage emains, make dams ditches parent, preparation tools anticipation of fire.   Keywords: perception, burning land, farmers

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know what the roles of who already run by agricultural extension in rubber cultivation. This study was conducted at Kuntu and Teluk Paman Village Kampar Kiri District Kampar Regency. The method was used survey method with the samples were 50 farmers of 50 farmers who received counseling. The result showed that role of education has been quite instrumental in activities of non-pattern rubber farming in Kampar Kiri district seen from education, dissemination, facilitation, consultation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation. The average value of the role of education is 3,30 (quite a role), dissemination is 2,60 (quite a role), facilitation with the score 3,28 (quite a role), consultation is 3,10 (quite a role), supervision is 3.06 (quite a role) as well as monitoring and evaluation are 2,83 (quite a role), so that the average overall role of education are 3,00 (quite a role). As for the empowerment of rubber farmers in the district of Kampar Kiri, which includes human resources, productive economy, and institutional power is enough. The average value of human resources is 3,20 (quite helpless), the productive economy is 3,11 (quit helpless) and institutional 3,35 (quite helpless ). So that, the average of the empowerment is 3,22 (quite helpless).   Keywords: The role of education, empowerment, independent rubber farmers

Abstract

The research wasaimedto analyze the role of extension on independent smallholder rubberfarmer who included education, dissemination of information or innovation, facilitation, consultation, supervision, and monitoring or evaluation. The research was conducted in GunungToar village of GunungToar district KuantanSingingi Regency from March to December 2015. This research was using survey method. Determination of the respondents is purposive sampling with the consideration that the farmer is following the activities of the extension and is include into the group of farmers.  The Samples of this research was taking as many 120 farmers by the total were  60 from Toar and 60 from Gunung Villages. The Data analyzed was used  Scale Likert’s Summated Rating (SLR).The results showed that the role of extension on independent smallholder rubber farmer categorized “quite a role”  at farming activities in GunungToar District of KuantanSingingi Regency. The extension has categorized “quite a role” in providing consultation, education, dissemination of information or innovation and facilitation, but the extension less instrumental for providing supervision and monitoring or evaluation. The extension is expected to further enhance its role especially in the supervision and monitoring or evaluation is still categorized less of the role.   Keyword: The role of extension, independent smallholder rubber farmer

Abstract

The aims of this study are to: (1) Describe the institutional of plantation extension in RokanHilir; (2) analyze the performance of plantation extension services in RokanHilir based onextensionworkers and farmers perception. This study was conducted in RokanHilir, the reason for taking this research is because RokanHilir is one of the regency that do not have a special institution to deal with extension activities. The method used to determine the sample in this research was purposive sampling, census, and Yaname Taro formula. Descriptive analysis is used to answer the first question and Likert Scale's Summated Rating (SLR) analysis was used to answer the second aim.The results showed: (1); The field of extension is a field that is responsible for extension activities that have 8 plantationextension, themembers who work in plantation offices are not appropriate with their background , while for the program areas of extension is not running well.(2) the perception of the extension workersperformance extension is in high category as can be seen fromthe responsiveness, responsibility, accountability and quality of service. Meanwhile, according to farmers' perception, the extension workersperformance is in the low category that can be seen from indicators of responsiveness, responsibility, accountability and quality of service. Keywords:Institutional, performance,extension institution

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1)  To identify the role of extension toward independent smallholder farmers of oil palm; (2) To know the empowerment level of the farmers; (3) To analysis the relation between extension’s role on  empowerment the farmers. This research  was conducted at keritang hulu  Village Sub-district Kemuning and Sencalang Village Sub-district Keritang Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir. Samples were determined by purposive sampling methods with consideration that the location has active extension activities and has farmers group. 60 independent smallholder farmers of oil palm were taken as respondent. Validity and reliability analysis has been done on the measuring instruments. Data’s analysis to acknowledge the first and second research purpose used Scale Likert’s summated Rating (SLR), whereas multiple linear regression used to acknowledge the third purpose of this research. The Result showed that: (1) The extension role is categorized enough, that are consisted of education, facilitation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation is categorized enough, while on, information  dissemination, and consultation is categorized have a role; (2) The empowerment level is categorized well, that are institutional and productive economy is categorized well, while on consisted of human resources is well enough; (3) Empowerment of independent small holder farmers affected significantly by the role of extension in facilitation and monitoring and evaluation, however the role of extension does not significantly affect on education dissemination consultation  and supervision of the farmers empowerments. Abstract

The purposes of this research are: Identify extention media of existing and knowing the level of effectiveness extention media paddy farmer in Tebing Tinggi Village Benai District Kuantan Singingi Regency. This research used a survey method that is directly from the field , by means of face-to-face interviews. The method of respondent taking in this research is sensus. Appropriate purpose of the first research is using descriptive qualitative analysis. The purpose of the second research, the researchers wanted to see the effectiveness  extention media, can be measure by using EPIC model (Empathy, Perception, Impack and Communication) to measure the effectiveness of media extention is using by Likerts Summated Rating Scale ( LSRS ), where each choice answers were scored. Research results obtained extention media of existing in Tebing Tinggi Village. There are three types of media, extention media with a physical object, printed and “Do’a Padang” citizenry extention media. Extention media level of effectiveness by using physical objects are less effective category with an average total score of 3,57. Extention media printed form of sketches and posters are less effective hearts categories with an average total score of 2,51. “Do’a Padang” citizenry extention media  are less quite effective category with an average total score of 3,11.  Keywords: Effectiveness, EPIC Model, Extention Media

Abstract

This study aims to identifying the influence of production factor to mustard production and to analyze the allocation efficiency of the production factor watermelon farm. The estimated result with Cobb-Douglass production function and Efficiency analysis. The results showed simultaneously all the independen variables (X) obvious effect the dependent variable (Y). Partial fertilizer ZA, SP-36 and Gandasil significantly effect the production of watermelon in the District Tampan City Pekanbaru, sig value 0,000 < 0,01 in level 95%. The NPM/Px value for organic fertilizer, ZA, SP-36, antracol, tupermin, dupont, seprint,EM-4 and labour usage is ≥ 1, it means the usage both of that factors can be increased. The value of NPM/Px for seed, fertilizer NPK and KCL is not important to reach economic efficiency condition and get the maximum benefit Keyword :Efficiency, Production Factor, District Tampan, Watermelon, Farm
