Abstract

Sasirangan cloth is a traditional cloth of the Banjar people that represents a form of local wisdom in South Kalimantan. This study aims to examine and describe the values of Islamic education embedded in sasirangan cloth as a distinctive form of local wisdom of South Kalimantan, so that it may serve as a medium and source of Islamic education relevant to the life of the Banjar people. This research employs a library research design using a qualitative approach to review, examine, and analyze various literature sources, including books, journals, and research articles related to Islamic educational values based on local wisdom within the concept of sasirangan cloth of South Kalimantan. The findings indicate that sasirangan cloth can function as a medium and source of learning through the presence of Islamic educational values contained in its various motifs, such as religious values represented by the star motif, values of strength represented by the kangkung kaumbakan and ombak sinapur karang motifs, the value of independence represented by the kulat karikit motif, the value of harmony represented by the pucuk rabung motif, and the value of nationalism represented by the laju bakayuh motif.

Abstract

The Antasari State Islamic University Sharia Faculty encounters several obstacles in teaching Arabic due to the theoretical syntax textbooks that are irrelevant to students' needs. These books contain difficult examples, complex grammatical rules, and elaborate and complicated syntactic parsing (i‘rāb). This study seeks to create functional syntax theory instructional materials. Evaluate the feasibility of these materials. Assess the effectiveness of the materials in the academic performance of the learners. The approach employed is Research and Development (R&D) using a modified Borg & Gall model. Data was collected using observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Data was analysed qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman technique, and quantitatively through t-test analysis using SPSS. Based on the findings, the developed grammar materials have considered the simplification of the elements of iʿrāb: mawqiʿ, iʿrāb, ḥukm iʿrāb, and ʿalāmat al-iʿrāb: Table, which enhances understanding; An inductive approach was also employed alongside the theory of syntactic function, which stipulates that 'the endings of the words are modified because of their position and function in the sentence, not because of ʿāmil. The syntax instructional materials developed in this study received excellent evaluations from Arabic language experts and instructional design specialists. Additionally, Arabic syntax experts and students from non-Arabic studies programs in the Faculty of Sharia also provided very positive evaluations. All research participants agreed that the instructional materials are suitable for syntax teaching. The results of the T-test indicate a significant difference between the pre-test scores prior to using the developed syntax instructional materials and the post-test scores after the students had utilized these materials. This is evidenced by a significance value of 0.000, which is smaller than the alpha value of 0.050. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the developed nahwu instructional materials is effective in improving the academic performance of students from Sharia faculty members who are not in Arabic study programs.

Abstract

This study investigates the Islamization process of the meaning and symbolic sacredness in the Banjar community's reverence for the sacred yellow cloth. Amid a robust Islamic identity, this practice fosters a dialectic between local tradition and tawhid (monotheism). This research aims to analyze the Islamization of meaning, the internalization of Quranic values, and the reinterpretation of symbolic sacredness to align with monotheistic principles. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the methodology combines field studies at the Kubah Habib Hamid bin Abbas Bahasyim with tafsir maudhu‘i (thematic Quranic exegesis). Findings indicate the significance of the yellow cloth transformed: from traditional tabarruk (seeking blessings) to ta‘zhim (veneration)—a scholarly view aligned with tawhid. For the younger generation, it has transitioned into a symbol of cultural identity. This study concludes this phenomenon is not syncretism but a creative dialectic and cultural Islamization, shaping a localized "Banjar Islam."

Abstract

The history of Islamic dissemination in Banua Lima particularly along the Batang Alai River Basin in Barabai remains poorly documented, resulting in a fragmented understanding of early Islamization in the upstream region compared to the more extensively recorded coastal areas. This study aims to reconstruct the development pattern of Islam in Banua Lima by examining historical traces, the role of sacred mosques, local religious figures, and the acculturation of pre-Islamic traditions. Employing a historical-social approach with heuristic, verification, interpretation, and historiographical stages, data were collected through archival studies, oral histories, site observation of heritage mosques, and documentation of cultural rituals. The findings indicate that Islam spread through three fundamental mechanisms: the establishment of mosques as centers of religious activities, the empowerment of local figures as key agents of da'wah, and the integration of indigenous traditions such as Baayun Maulid and Batumbang—into Islamic practice. Heritage mosques in Palajau, Banua Halat, Banua Lawas, and surrounding areas serve as material evidence of the da'wah mission led by Khatib Dayan. The study concludes that the Islamization process in Banua Lima was peaceful, adaptive, and collaborative, forming a da'wah model that remains contextually relevant for contemporary local communities. Further research and preservation of historical mosques and cultural traditions are recommended as strategic efforts to maintain the Islamic historical legacy in South Kalimantan.
