Abstract

Background: Fitness center members generally eat foods high in protein, reaching 2 grams/kg body weight or more, and are often accompanied by supplements such as creatinine. High protein intake in the long term will produce a metabolic load that can cause impaired kidney function. In addition to creatinine, the influence of high protein intake that individuals with high activity directly feel is Blood Pressure. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between protein intake, creatinine levels, and blood pressure in fitness members at Osbond Gym Cempaka Putih. Method: This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 22 respondents, namely fitness members at Osbond Gym Cempaka Putih. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson correlation test for normally distributed data and the Spearman correlation test for abnormally distributed data. The test criteria are seen if the p-value < 0.05, then Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected. Test Results in Normality Variables Protein Intake and Type of Exercise are abnormal, and other variables are normal. Results: All respondents (100%) in this study had been on a high-protein diet for over one year. Most respondents were between 26 and 35 (40.9%) and 36-45 years (40.9%). More respondents were men (68.2%). Most respondents did this weight training (81.8%), with an average exercise frequency of 367.73 minutes/week. The average protein intake of respondents was 212.7736 grams/day, the average body mass index was 25.33 kg / m2, and the average creatinine levels of respondents were 1.01 mg / dL. Most respondents had normal systolic (72.7%) and diastolic (68.2%) blood pressures. Conclusions: There was no association between protein intake, BMI, exercise, and creatinine levels. There is a relationship between sex and creatinine levels. There was no association between protein intake, sex, BMI, and exercise with systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract

The  purpose  of  the study Nowadays, there are many people who participate in fitness centre to maintain their health and fitness. There are many ways to increase VO2Max, an indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness, two of many were High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and traditional aerobic endurance training. In other hand exercise in any type of way required extra energy, resulting in increased energy and macronutrient intake. Was to analyse the effects of HIIT vs. Aerobic Endurance Exercise on energy intake, macronutrient intake, and VO2Max of fitness centre participants in Depok.. Materials and methods  26 participants were recruited voluntarily from one of fitness centre in Depok, West Java, Indonesia, then randomized into HIIT Intervention Group and aerobic endurance exercise intervention group for 3 months. Energy and macronutrient intake were assessed before and after intervention. Bleep test was done to determine VO2Max Level before and after intervention. Results. Paired t-test between before and after intervention showed that there’s significant difference (p<0.05) on VO2Max, while independent sample t-test showed that there’s no significant difference between both type of exercise. Conclusions. This study shows that there was no effect of both HIIT and Aerobic Endurance Training on energy and macronutrient intake. However, both interventions increase VO2Max as an indicator of fitness level. Shorter time for HIIT may be useful for increasing VO2Max level on busy individual.

Abstract

Indonesia has diabetes alert status because it ranks 7th out of 10 countries with the highest number of diabetes patients. There are five main pillars in diabetes management: education, medical nutrition therapy, physical activity, pharmacology, and independent blood sugar monitoring. Education is the first pillar that can be done with the help of easily accessible and sustainable media, one of which is the website. One of the important steps in developing educational media is to validate the media by professionals and respondents of the target group. The objective of this study is to know the development and validation of "Gizinesia" as an educational medium for Diabetes Mellitus patients according to professionals and respondents with diabetes. This research is quantitative research with a methodology approach in three steps: development, validity, and evaluation with a sample of 11 professionals and 20 respondents with diabetes. Based on validity tests by professionals, the website content was declared valid with a CVR with a CVI value of ≥ 0.80. The website construct was valid with an average calculation of r≥ 0.632. However, out of 18 items found three invalid items. Based on the validity test by diabetic respondents, the website content was found to be valid with Mean I-CVI = 0.95. However, out of 15 items, 1 item was found to be invalid and the website construct was declared valid with an average r≥ 0.7. However, of the 16 items found two items with low correlation. Therefore, the results of the validation of the "Gizinesia" website as a nutrition education medium for Diabetes Mellitus patients are valid. However, they need improvement by making an illustrated video and following the "10/20/30 Rule".

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) has become a significant public health issue in Asia, with significantly increasing prevalence rates in recent decades, especially affecting blood glucose levels in patients with this type of diabetes. This study aimed to examine the correlation between body composition and fasting blood glucose levels in subjects with diabetes mellitus type 2.  The observational research used a cross-sectional design that included a sample of 68 subjects, conducted between August and May 2024 at the RSUP Fatmawati Hospital in Jakarta.  Data were analyzed using the chi-square test for bivariate analysis, and analysis of variance was used to compare the variables. Body composition was measured using body impedance analysis (BIA), physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF), and fasting blood glucose was measured using Accu-Chek Instant Strips. Dietary and beverage consumption habits, familial health history, smoking habits, sleep duration, and physical activity level were assessed using a structured questionnaire. The results showed a positive relationship between nutritional status, percent body fat, and waist circumference, with a negative correlation between muscle mass and fasting blood sugar levels. In conclusion, nutritional status, percent body fat, waist circumference, and muscle mass were associated  with  fasting blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Background: Good nutritional knowledge is important for athletes to develop positive attitude and proper dietary practices, especially supporting training, competition, and peak performance. Lack of knowledge can lead to energy and nutrient imbalances, which can disrupt physiological adaptation, recovery, and athletic performance. Unlike previous studies on knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP), which generally only assess questionnaire scores on eating practices without directly analyzing dietary intake, this study takes a different approach by directly analyzing dietary intake and considering differences between rest days and training days. Objectives: To analyze the association between nutritional knowledge and attitudes towards dietary intake among competitive elite athletes in DKI Jakarta.

Abstract

Background: Poor body perceptions may cause stress that leads to an increased risk of eating disorders that subsequently affect nutritional status. However, this relationship in adolescents is still hardly explored. Objectives: To examine the relationship between eating disorders, body perception, stress scores, and body mass index in adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 33 teenagers aged 13-16 years at Attaqwa 02 Tarumajaya Middle School who were drawn using stratified random sampling. Eating disorders, body perception, and stress score were assessed by the Eating Atittude Test-40, Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questioner Appearance Scale, and a modified Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-42, respectively. Body mass index for age z-score (BAZ) was generated from anthropometric measurements. Relationships were tested by Pearson and Partial correlations. Results: More than half of the respondents were boys (51.5%). Eating disorders (r= 0.399) and stress scores (r= 0.539) were significantly and positively associated with BAZ in adolescents. The relationship remains significant although a bit attenuated after adjusted by age (r= 0.375; r= 0.562) and gender (r= 0.388; r= 0.516). No association was found between body perception and BAZ (r= -0.027). After adjusting by age (r= -0.107) and gender (r= -0.052) the association remained insignificant. Conclusions: Eating disorders and stress scores correlated significantly with body mass index z-score in adolescents. Health and nutrition promotion to prevent eating disorders and stress should be encouraged to reduce the risk of obesity in adolescents.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to analyze the association between body fatness measures, i.e. body mass index (BMI) and percent fat mass (% FM) with cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in young adults. Seventy five undergraduate students aged 19-21 years were included in this cross sectional study. Body composition was assessed by tetra polar Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis method, and CRF was determined as VO2 max level by conducting Balke test and flexibility by sit-and-reach test. Regression tests were performed to assess the associations between the body fatness measures and CRF. The mean (SD) % FM and BMI were 25.6 (8.3) % and 22.4 (4.2) kg/m2, respectively. Both BMI and % FM were inversely associated with VO2 max and flexibility. The associations of % FM with each CRF measure were stronger (% FM-VO2 max: R2=0.45, p<0.0001; % FM-flexibility: R2=0.16, p<0.0001) than those of BMI (BMI-VO2 max: R2= 0.12, p=0.002; BMI-flexibility: R2=0.07, p<0.0001). Including gender as a variable predictor greatly improved almost all associations. We suggest that %FM is a better predictor for VO2max than BMI. Further studies are needed to elucidate the relationships of body fatness measures adjusted for potential confounding factors with CRF measures other than VO2 max.
