Abstract

Nano γAl2O3 has been one of the nanometal oxides that has improved the characteristics of biodiesel. The effect of γAl2O3 nanoparticles addition on premixed flame combustion is investigated with an experiment on the laminar flame speed of Calophyllum inophyllum methyl ester 30% and 70% petrodiesel mixtures, at atmospheric pressure and preheated temperature T = 473K. The γAl2O3 nanoparticles added to CIME30 biodiesel were 0ppm, 100ppm, 200ppm, and 300ppm. Experiments were carried out on a bunsen burner. The equivalent ratio of the mixture between ϕ = 0.67 to 1.17. Experiments revealed that the addition of nanoparticles to CIME30 biodiesel expands the flammability limit and increases the laminar flame speed. CIME30 without nanoparticles, flame stable between ϕ = 0,76 -1,17. CIME30 with nanoparticles, flame stable between ϕ = 0,67 -1,17. Combustion of CIME30 required a lot of air. The highest laminar flame speed occurred at the equivalent ratio ϕ = 0.83. The highest laminar flame speed of CIME30 0, 100, 200, and 300 ppm were 30.77, 34.50, 35.90, 38.45 cm/s respectively. The higher the nano γAl2O3 concentration the higher the laminar flame speed. This occurs due to the catalytic effect of γAl2O3 on biodiesel and its mixtures.

Abstract

In combustion engines, the fuel and air mixing qualities are very influential on combustion and ramification of engine performance. The addition of turbulence to the intake manifold will inflate airflow and fuel into turbulence and make the air and fuel mixture more homogeneous, thus combusting combustion. The purpose of this study was to compare the maximum torque value of fuel combustion 4 premium fuel and LPG with added turbulence variations on the intake manifold with corner blades 30o, 45o and 60o. According to the research data, the use of turbulence with the angle of the blade 30o able to provide the best torque value due to create the most optimum turbulent flow so that the fuel mixing quality becomes more perfect. Abstract

HCS (Hydrocarbon Cracking System) is an innovation to improve torque and fuel. with copper catalyst pipe used as a tool to accelerate the process of fuel cracking in the combustion chamber. This study aims to obtain data comparison of the performance of 4-step fuel motor with variation of catalyst pipe length with standarts conditions as a comparison. In the research done by testing that is torque. From the results of research conducted torque value has increased with the use of catalyst pipe, the highest torque occurs in the condition of the catalyst pipe with a length of 200 mm with a torque of 9.32 Nm at RPM 3040. For catalysts with a length of 150 mm and 100 mm the value of torque obtained is 9.23 Nm and 9.16 Nm, while the standard torque condition is only 9.13 Nm. The cracking process in the catalyst pipe causes CH to split fuel into C and H atoms, in the presence of H atoms on fuel, the fuel mixture becomes more ideal and combustible in the combustion chamber. The length of the catalyst pipe will increase the amount of hydrocarbons and purity of hydrogen and carbon without the content of H2O. the ideal fuel composition will increase combustion and maximum torque value Keywords: HCS, Torque, Cracking System, Length of Catalyst

Abstract

The use of LPG fuel is an alternative to the use of environmentally friendly gasoline. The use of LPG fuel causes a decrease in motor performance, which is due to the different characteristics of combustion between LPG and gasoline. This can be overcome by rearranging the ignition timing corresponding to the LPG burning characteristics. This study aims to obtain data comparing the performance of combustion engine 4 step LPG fuel with variations of different ignition angle and gasoline fuel at the ignition angle standard. This research was conducted with two tests, the test with variation of different angle of LPG fuel and standard test on motorcycles Honda Astrea Prima 100 cc in 1991. From result of research of maximum torque produced by LPG fuel bigger than gasoline fuel. The advanced ignition angle (180 BTDC) is the most optimal angle of ignition resulting in maximum torque than at any other ignition angle. Keywords: LPG, Ignition Corner, and Torque.

Abstract

The number of energy demand these days is very high. This shows the need for new inonovation to solve the problem of energy needs, one of which is the use of Phase Change Material (PCM) as a heat exchanger material. The purpose of this research is to know the characteristics of PCM with addition cooking oil and paraffin. The percentage of cooking oil and paraffin are 30%, 40%, and 50% of total volume. The research was start with heating process during 1 hours with temperature ± 25 oC. Result of this research shows PCM paraffin - cooking oil with 50% mixture is the best cooling speed PCM, next is PCM paraffin - cooking oil 40% mixture, and the last is PCM paraffin - cooking oil with 30% mixture. On the cooling process, the 30% cooking oil mixture can hold the temperature longers than the other, while the 40% cooking oil mixture has second position, and the last is 50% cooking oil mixture. The conclusion is the addition of cooking oil can improve thermal conductivity of PCM. Keywords: Conductivity thermal, cooking oil, PCM

Abstract

HCS (Hydrocarbon Cracking System) merupakan suatu inovasi untuk meningkatkan torsi dan daya bakar. dengan pipa katalis tembaga yang digunakan sebagai alat untuk mempercepat proses cracking bahan bakar yang masuk pada ruang bakar. Penelitian ini bertujuan u ntuk memperoleh data perbandingan unjuk kerja motor bakar 4 langkah dengan variasi panjang pipa katalis dengan kondisi standarts sebagai pembanding.dalam penelitian dilakukan dengan pengujian yaitu torsi. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan Daya maksimal motor terjadi pada kondisi tanpa katalis dengan nilai 11.9 Hp pada putaran mesin 9552 rpm, sedangkan dengan penambahan daya mengalami penurunan karena bahan bakar yang masuk pada ruang bahan tidak sepenuhnya berbentuk cair sehingga penurunan efisiensi vo lumetrik juga disebabkan karena volume bahan bakar yang dibutuhkan lebih besar dalam campuran asupan. Nilai torsi mengalami peningkatan dengan penggunaan pipa katalis, torsi teringgi terjadi pada kondisi pipa katalis dengan panjang 200 mm dengan torsi sebesar 9,32 Nm pada RPM 3040. Untuk katalis dengan panjang 150 mm dan 100 mm nilai torsi yang didapat adalah 9,23 Nm dan 9,16 Nm, sedangakan pada kondisi standart torsi hanya 9,13 Nm. Proses cracking akan terjadi pemecahan molekul - molekul senyawa hidrokarbon yang besar menjadi molekul - molekul senyawa yang lebih kecil, sehingga adanya proses craking tersebut membuat campuran bahan bakar dan udara menjadi lebih ideal dan mudah terbakar pada ruang bakar. Dengan komposisi bahan bakar yang ideal akan meningkatkan pembakaran dan nilai torsi maksimum

Abstract

The high level of fuel oil consumption in Indonesia caused by increases number of vehicles. Fuel oil consumption has switched into gas fuel as one of the secure alternative fuels and obtained more little gas emissions if compared with fuel oil. LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) is one of the alternative fuel was environmentally friendly. This research is purposed for compared performance of four-step engine with premium fuel and LPG fuel with a variety of additional electromagnetic field 600, 800, and 1000 total of copper wire windings. Using LPG fuel can increase torque generated by engine, but the result of engine power to be lower. Based on research data 800 copper wire windings can increase the number of torque and generated power compared to LPG fuel standard. LPG fuel can save fuel consumption compared to premium fuel. The most optimum decrease in fuel consumption is generated by using 1000 copper wire windings. Using LPG fuel can also reduce CO, CO2, and HC emissions levels. The best CO, CO2, and HC emissions levels are obtained from 1000 copper wire windings.Keywords: torque, power, fuel consumption, emissions, and LPG.

Abstract

Desa Pakusari Krajan di Kabupaten Jember memiliki pusat penjualan durian berupa deretan kios-kios penjual buah durian segar yang menetap. Saat ini, banyak pembeli durian yang menikmati buah durian di kios penjual, mengakibatkan banyak limbah durian menumpuk berupa biji dan kulit, sehingga lingkungan menjadi kotor. Para penjual durian, sebagi mitra dalam kegiatan ini, hanya menjual satu macam produk saja, belum memiliki pengetahuan untuk meningkatkan usaha dagangnya, serta belum ada managemen usaha. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan menyelesaikan permasalahn tersebut melalui pemanfaatan limbah durian menjadi olahan produk makanan dan minuman, serta pengaplikasian mesin teknologi tepat guna untuk membantu proses pengolahan tersebut. Adanya produk olahan limbah durian tersebut dapat menganekaragamkan produk yang dijual para penjual durian. Tujuan lain yang ingin dicapai adalah memberi pengetahuan mitra tentang managemen usaha. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan dan pelatihan, praktek pengolahan maupun praktek penggunaan teknologi tepat guna dalam proses produksi. Mitra mengikuti kegiatan dengan penuh antusias. Semua program yang telah dilaksanakan diiukuti dengan baik oleh mitra, diharapkan memberikan pengaruh positif bagi mitra baik dalam, aspek pengembangan ipteks, ekonomi maupun lingkungan. Kegiatan ini mendorong adanya diversifikasi produk, dimana mitra menjual olahan limbah durian selain durian segar yang biasa mereka jual. Lingkungan juga menjadi lebih bersih bebas limbah durian. Mitra juga leebih memahami pentingnya managemen usaha, antara lain melalui pembukuan kas sederhana.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lanjutan dari penelitian sebelumnya. Konversi dari bahan bakar minyak ke bahan bakar gas jenis LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) dengan menggunakan sistem injeksi tipe 1. Sistem injeksi tipe I atau disebut dengan manifold injection merupakan desain injeksi yang paling sederhana pengganti sistem karburator, dimana sistem ini diharapkan mampu memperbaiki pasokan bahan bakar yang dibutuhkan oleh mesin. Torsi dan daya mesin diperoleh dengan menggunakan peralatan chasis dynamometer. Bahan bakar yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan bahan bakar minyak jensi premium dan bahan bakar gas jenis LPG. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan bahan bakar LPG injeksi tipe 1, terjadi penurunan torsi, daya mesin, dan spesifik konsumsi bahan bakar pada single cylinder spark ignition. Akan tetapi efisiensi thermal meningkat sebesar 6,38% dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar premium.

Abstract

Spray characteristics have an important role in improving the quality of combustion in compression engines. This study analyzes the effect of ambient temperature on spray characteristics including spray tip penetration, spray angle and velocity of spray. The research method uses an experimental method with ambient temperature variations of 60oC, 80oC, 100oC controlled using a thermocouple and an ambient pressure of 0.3 MPa. the composition of the fuel uses diesel (diesel 100%), B30 (30% biodiesel), B100 (100% biodiesel). Image recording using camera speed 480 fms. Based on the experimental results, the ambient temperature increases the spray angle and B100 at all ambient temperatures has a spray tip penetration, velocity of spray is lower.
