Abstract

This research aims to determine the market share and type of marketing channels, as well as the marketing volume proportion of red snapper (Lutjanus spp) at the Kendari Ocean Fisheries Port. This research was conducted in January-February 2014. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Research data was obtained through observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. The types of data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis with a nominal and percentage approach. The research results show that at PPS Kendari there are three markets, namely local, domestic and export. The local market has two types of marketing channels, while the domestic and export markets only have one type of marketing channel. The highest proportion of local market marketing volume is in channel type I with a value of 69% and the lowest is in channel type II with a value of 31%. The proportion of red snapper commodity marketing volume is mostly marketed in the local and domestic markets, while the export market has a smaller number of commodity markets. The highest proportion of red snapper marketing volume in the 2016-2020 period was in the local and domestic markets at 38%, while in the export market it was 24%.

Abstract

If the use of yellowfin fish is not controlled now, it will threaten the sustainability of the resource in the future. The purpose of the study was to analyze the catch per effort and maximum sustainable potential of madidihang fish landed at Kendari Ocean Fishing Port. The method in the study was a survey with descriptive analysis. The results showed that the CPUE value of madidihang fish equivalent to pole and line fluctuated from 2016-2022. In 2017 there was an increase with a value of 1,831 kg/trip and in 2019 there was a decrease with a value of 624 kg/trip. The maximum sustainable potential results of using the Schaefer and Fox model of the optimum catch effort (FMSY) value of 1,913 trips, 1,562 trips and maximum catch value (CMSY) of 2,459,467 kg / year or 2,459 tons / year, 2,341,013 kg / year or 2,341 tons / year. The stock status of madidihang fish in the Banda Sea experienced overfishing in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Abstract

Research on bigeye tuna indicates the importance of analyzing the trend of fish-ing effort and the potential of Jestari bigeye tuna in the Banda Sea, in order to support sustainable fishing management. The purpose of this study was to determine the analy-sis of fishing effort and sustainable potential catch of bigeye tuna landed at PPS Kendari. The study was conducted in November December 2023 at the Kendari Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS). This study used a descriptive method and used secondary data. The results showed that the value of bigeye tuna fishing effort fluctuated from 2016-2022. In 2017 there was an increase with a value of 133 kg/ trip and in 2021 there was a decrease with a value of 32 kg/ trip. The results of the sustainable potential of bigeye tuna landed at PPS Kendari using the Fox model. The Fox model has an optimum effort value (Fusy) of 431 trips and a maximum catch value (Cu) of 42,174 kg/ year. The conclusion of this study is that the stock status of bigeye tuna in the Banda Sea is experiencing overfishing.

Abstract

Seagrass meadows, which are extensive and distributed across various substrate types, play a crucial role in nutrient management and maintaining aquatic ecosystem stability. This study aims to determine the distribution of seagrass species, including seagrass density and seagrass cover percentage based on substrate types in the waters of Sawapudo Village. The purpose is to describe the condition of seagrass ecosystem distribution and provide initial information for coastal and marine resources. Seagrass sampling was conducted using quadrat transects at three stations determined by substrate type. The substrate types were sandy-muddy at Station I, muddy at Station II, and sandy at Station III. During the study period, the seagrass species found at the three stations were Enhalus acoroides, Thallasia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, and Halodule uninervis. The average seagrass density at Station I was 216 shoots/m², at Station II was 293 shoots/m², and at Station III was 191 shoots/m². The seagrass cover percentage at Station I was 67.97%, at Station II was 72.45%, and at Station III was 53.44%. The seagrass distribution pattern at Station I had an Index of 1.64, at Station II an Index of 1.61, and at Station III an Index of 1.15. Differences in seagrass density are attributed to variations in substrate types. The seagrass cover percentage is influenced by the number of shoots, morphology, and substrate type. The seagrass species distribution pattern at the research location is clumped. Key words: Coverage, Density, Distribution Pattern, Seagrass, Substrate Type

Abstract

One of the processed fish that is very popular among culinary enthusiasts is pempek. This preparation is made by grinding fish meat and adding a certain amount of flour to form a dough that can be formed in various types, such as submarine pempek, adaan, lenjer and several other forms. The purpose of community service activities (PKM) is to provide guidance for the Bau-Bau community members in producing various variants of pempek as food products for families and for culinary-based souvenirs or entrepreneurial products. Pempek is a value added product from Andeande fish that have low economic value. The activities were attended by small entrepreneurs who were registered with the Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) agency. The results of this activity showed the success of the participants in producing several types of pempek, namely black pempek from squid blood, pempek green kelor leaves, pempek shrimp, pempek filled with rebon and several other variants.Pempek;  Bau-bau;  UKM;  culinary;  value added product

Abstract

Population parameters such as growth, recruitment patterns, mortality, and exploitation rates have a very crucial role in sustainable fisheries resource management. This study aims to analyze the growth, recruitment patterns, mortality, and exploitation rate of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) at the Kendari Ocean Fishing Port. Data were obtained from fishermen's catches using mini purse seine fishing gear at the Kendari Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) during the period June to November 2024. The analysis was carried out using the von Bertalanffy method for growth, recruitment patterns, mortality estimation, and exploitation using FiSAT II software. The findings indicated that the yellowfin tuna's estimated maximum length (L∞) reached 70.20 cm, with an annual growth coefficient (K) of 0.50. The recruitment trend revealed a significant peak in August, registering a rate of 19.55%. The total annual mortality rate (Z) was noted at 6.14, comprising a natural mortality (M) rate of 0.90 per year and a fishing mortality (F) rate of 5.25 per year. The exploitation rate (E) calculated at 0.85 per year suggests that the yellowfin tuna caught at Kendari PPS in the Banda Sea is subject to overfishing. This analysis offers crucial insights for the sustainable management of yellowfin tuna stocks and suggests that additional research on the fishing equipment employed in the Banda Sea for capturing yellowfin tuna be conducted.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the market share and type of marketing channels, as well as the proportion of marketing volume of mackerel (Rastrelliger sp) at the Kendari City Ocean Fisheries Port (PPS). This study was conducted in January-February 2024. The method used in this study was purposive sampling with descriptive analysis using a nominal and percentage approach. The types of data used were primary data and secondary data. Research data were obtained through observation, direct interviews, documentation and literature studies. The results of the study showed that the market share consists of two, namely the local market and the domestic market. The type of local market marketing channel consists of three types and the domestic market consists of one type. The highest proportion of marketing volume is in the local market in marketing channel II with a value of 73% and the lowest in marketing channel III with a value of 5%. The proportion of domestic market marketing volume has the same value in 2016-2019 at 100% while in 2020 it was 0% due to Covid-19. The highest proportion of market share is in the local market at 73% and the lowest in the domestic market at 27%.
