Abstract

This article highlights the “Contribution of Science in Theology”. A contemporary discourse that will briefly describe the general description of “The Essence of Science and Its Purpose” and “Theology and Dynamics”, then formulates the possibilities for the contribution of Science to Theology, or vice versa. This article is not a comprehensive description, but it is an article that will give a concise and concise review of the intended topic. The presupposition of the topic discussed can be formulated briefly that science contributes to developing the “adventure” of theological education. The process of gaining satisfaction in the world of theology is obtained in the same way as the process of acquiring science, namely: First, Starting with confidence and continuing by looking for supporting arguments (a priori). The Bible is the primary and absolute source, while tradition, literature, historical studies and experiments are complementary. Second, start with doubt and continue by looking for evidence of its justification (a posteriori). Primary and secondary sources are the same as above. Both of the above will not be discussed at length in this article, but will be described in such a way that eventually the reader will get an initial prediction that “science and theology” never “duel” each other but can be “mutual”, as well as “dialogue”.

Abstract

This article is a conceptual study of cultural elements and contextual evangelism approache according to the paradigm of Evangelical Christians. The research was conducted using a descriptive method built on relevant literature research (or documentary analysis). This study begins with conducting research on the dynamics of theological perception of the gospel and culture. Then proceed with the understanding of culture and cultural dimensions and their correlations which are important to determine the use of these dimensions in a contextual evangelistic approach. The final result of this study shows that the attention to culture in developing contextual evangelism approaches does not mean that the church has to fully adapt or assume there is a harmony between the gospel and culture. Precisely by understanding and utilizing cultural elements in contextual evangelism, it will appear that the gospel has an advantage with regard to the assurance of eternal salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, efforts to prepare a contextual evangelist who has integrity, character, and competence regarding the Bible and culture is very important.

Abstract

This article describes the theory of the sociology of knowledge from Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann which is reviewed in their best-selling book entitled “The Social Construction of Reality:  A Treatise in the Sociology of Knowledge”. The research was conducted by conducting a "book review" on the substance of Berger and Luckmann's ideas about social construction based on reality, especially regarding the construction of knowledge. Berger and Luckmann argue that knowledge as reality is the result of individual struggles in daily life experiences where there is always a dialectic between objective and subjective elements and a dialectic between the dimensions of internalization, objectivation and externalization processes that make meaning in human existence. Thus the sociology of knowledge advocated by Berger and Luckmann includes knowledge as a result of reflection on individual experiences in their environment and community which can also be called "empirical sociology". The relevance of such a theory of knowledge construction provides significance and a foothold for humans as learners and the idea of independent learning.

Abstract

This article is a systematic-doctrinal study of Biblical and holistic Mission and Mission Theology. This includes a study of the doctrines of the complete nature of God, the whole creation, the whole human being, the complete salvation and the whole ministry as well as the biblical doctrine of the Kingdom of God and its comprehensive scope. The results of this study confirm that there is no substantial separation between the sacred or sacred with the secular or profane, even between personal and social elements. In the Bible, mission includes both spiritual and material elements, and is manifested in the totality of harmony between God, humans and all creation in a holistic manner. Mission consists of ministries of evangelism and humanization, internal conversion and restoration of social situations and conditions, vertical faith and horizontal love. The Bible teaches that the problem of sin is not only the problem of the individual human being that has been corrupted but also the problem of the system or structure that has been corrupted. In the end, it will be recommended a doctrine of a holistic ministry for church that touches all elements of humanity, spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, and social and restores all creation, namely the earth which belongs to God in the Lord Jesus Christ, the redeemer and the great restorer. Keywords: Mission, Theology, Biblical, Holistic, Doctrine.

Abstract

This study describes the essence and existence of the Bible according to a review of Biblical literature as a result of research by several theologians. The biblical literature and theological perspectives reviewed are from conservative and contemporary circles who were randomly selected by the researchers in this article. This study uses a qualitative method built by the study of literature that is relevant to the research problem. The final result of this study shows that theologians have different perceptions about the essence and existence of the Bible, but in general they have the same thing that the Bible does not just exist but God's intervention to the writers in the context of history, struggles and struggles of their lives and their communities. For this reason, with varying perceptions, all theologians acknowledge the authority of the Bible in their written Biblical literature. The researchers also point out that there are various strengths and weaknesses in the theologians' perceptions of the problem in question. Thus, it will open the possibility for further research in this field, both scientifically and practically.
