Abstract

“Pandan Laut” (Pandanus tectorius) pandanaceae family, Pandanus odoratissimus is a synonym for P.tectorius. Pandanus fasicularis Lam is also a synonym of P.tectorius , P.odoratissimus. P.tectorius is a shrub that is still not widely used. P.tectorius is also type of plant from the pandan family that grows wild along the coast. P.tectorius is abundant in South Asia, Tropical Australia. This plant in Indonesia grows wild along the northern coast of Java, the Thousand Islands, Sumatra and other Islands. This review aims to provide information on ethnobotany, pharmacological and phytochemical activities of P.tectorius, using the method of literature study from several studies on ethnobotany, pharmacological and phytochemical activities of P.tectoriu, sea pandanus leaves have the potential as a mat sieve material, the fruit has the potential for antioxidant, cytotoxic, antibacterial, analgesic, antihyperlipidemic, antihyperglycemic, antimicrobial and anti- inflammatory activity

Abstract

Peel-off type facial skin mask preparations from herbal/synthetic ingredients can have the advantages of being easily removed, such as elastic membranes, improving hydration of the skin, treating wrinkles, aging, and acne, shrinking pores, moisturizing the skin, and relaxing facial muscles. Posbindu partner cadres in the working area of Puskesmas Pasirkaliki, Cimahi City, feel that there is still a lack of understanding and skill level in making simple cosmetic preparations from herbal ingredients, especially peel-off type facial skin mask preparations. Thus, we, as an extension team from the Community Partnership Program (PKM) grant scheme, strive to provide booklets, counseling on various facial skin health materials, and training assistance in making peel-off type facial skin masks with simple formulations of a combination of Marchantia paleacea liver moss herbaceous plants and green tea leaves to posbindu partner cadres in the Pasirkaliki Puskesmas Working Area,  North Cimahi Village, Cimahi City. The mixed results of this community service activity indicate that there are benefits, such as a significant increase in the level of health understanding in the results of pre-test and post-test evaluations of various health education that have been provided, including the importance of utilizing peel-off type facial skin mask preparations from traditional herbal ingredients and Posbindu partner cadres as agents of change are expected to convey health information and skills that obtained so that it can be conveyed to the immediate family and the rest of the community in general

Abstract

Tea is one kind of plant that is popular as a beverage. These plants contain antioxidant potential of flavonoids derived from polyphenol compounds. The research aimed to examine the antioxidant activity and to determine the con-tent of total phenols and total flavonoids from ten grades of Indonesian black tea liqour. Antioxidant activity was measured by the method of free radical scavenging by DPPH, total phenol content measured by Follin-Ciocalteu method, and total flavonoid content was measured by the method of AlCl3. The results of this research showed that The highest total phenol content contained in Dust III with 225,80 mgGAE/100 g and the lowest content is BTL with 111,26 mgGAE/100 g. The test results showed that BBL has the highest total flavonoid content with 0,151 mg/g, while the lowest is BTL flavonoid with 0,086 mg/g. Meanwhile the highest antioxidant activity of ten grade of Indonesian black tea infusion obtained by Dust I, with IC50 97,00 μg/ml. Meanwhile the lowest antioxidant activity with IC50 178,56 μg/ml was obtained by BTL.

Abstract

Green tea has bioactive component, it is polyphenol which has strong antioxidant. As the largest component of polyphenol, flavonoid is very effective as an antioxidant. The purpose of this study was to determine antioxidant activity, phenol total and flavonoid total in green tea from three different estates, they were Cikajang Kab. Garut, Taraju Kab. Tasikmalaya, and Ciwidey Kab. Bandung. The results of this study show that seven samples have good antioxidant activity, but green tea which came from Cikajang (P-IRT No. 810320501698) has the highest IC50 grade it was 21,44 μg/ml. Beside that samples from Cikajang (P-IRT No. 810320501698) has highest total phenol content it was 334,68± SD 0,89/100 g samples and also has the highest total flavonoid it was 0,34 mg Kuersetin/g samples ± SD 0,21. On the contrary, green tea which has the lowest IC50 grade came from Taraju, the grade was 28,03 μg/ml, the samples has the lowest total phenol content it was 208,91± SD 4,47 mgGAE/100 g, and also has the lowest total flavonoid it was 0,207 mg Kuersetin/g samples ± SD 0,00.

Abstract

Research of xantine oxidase enzyme inhibition activity of infusion and ethanol extract of white tea were done. The aim of this research was to evaluate  xantine oxidase inhibitory activity of infusion and ethanol extract of white tea. Phytochemical screening on dry tea, infusion and ethanol extract of white tea showed that all samples contained alkaloid, flavonoid, quinone, tannin and tritherpenoid/ steroide. The IC50 value of samples were 76,64 μg/ml and 31,11μg/ml respectivelly. This study used allopurinol as standard with IC50 was 0,60 μg/ml.

Abstract

Tape ketan hitam merupakan bahan pangan berkhasiat yang mengandung senyawa antosianin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kadar total antosianin dan aktivitas antioksidan tape ketan hitam dari ekstrak air, metanol dan etanol 70%. Kandungan total antosianin ditentukan menggunakan metode pH differensial pada pH 1,0 dan pH 4,5 dengan hasil rata-rata kadar antosianin total dari ekstrak tape ketan hitam dengan pelarut aquadest sebesar 3,6598 mg/100g, pelarut metanol p.a sebesar 4,1191 mg/100g, dan pelarut etanol 70% sebesar 8,4190 mg/100g. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode DPPH dan standar yang digunakannya adalah kuersetin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai IC50 ekstrak air, metanol p.a, dan etanol 70% secara berturut-turut adalah 119,6697 ppm; 94,6237 ppm; dan 88,4847 ppm. Hasil ini menunjukkan ekstrak tape ketan hitam dengan pelarut etanol 70% menunjukkan kadar total antosianin dan aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pelarut metanol p.a dan air.

Abstract

Karies gigi merupakan kondisi gigi sudah mulai keropos dan berlubang yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Bakteri Gram positif ini mampu demineralisasi email pada gigi. Pengunaan pasta gigi dengan komposisi florida dan sodium lauryl sulphate dapat merusak gigi. Pencegahan karies gigi dapat menggunakan bahan alam yaitu teh hijau (Camellia sinensis) karena mudah didapatkan dan memiliki efek sebagai antibakteri. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk penyuluhan, pendampingan, dan praktek lapangan akan dilakukan dengan melibatkan organisasi masyarakat untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kebermanfaatan teh hijau. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 28,18% mengenai manfaat teh hijau selama kegiatan berlangsung dan produk yang dihasilkan berupa pasta gigi herbal dengan bahan baku alami teh hijau. Dental caries is a condition in which the teeth begin to become porous and have cavities caused by Streptococcus mutans bacteria. These Gram-positive bacteria are capable of demineralizing the enamel on teeth. The use of toothpaste with a composition of fluoride and sodium lauryl sulphate can damage teeth. Instead of preventing dental caries, you can use natural ingredients, namely green tea (Camellia sinensis) because it is easily available and has an antibacterial effect. Community service activities in the form of counseling, mentoring, and field practice will be carried out by involving community organizations to increase the knowledge and benefits of green tea. This activity showed an increase in knowledge of 28.18% about the benefits of green tea during the activity and the product produced was herbal toothpaste with natural green tea ingredients.

Abstract

Introduction: Jamblang is a plant from the Myrtaceae family. It can be used as a traditional medicine, one of which can treat diabetes. The purpose of this review is to determine the phytochemical compounds of Syzygium cumini that have antidiabetic activity. Methods: The methods used in the preparation of this review article are to search for various sources that discuss antidiabetic activity and phytochemical studies of Syzygium cumini. Results: The results of the review that have been carried out explain the in vitro and in vivo testing of antidiabetic activity on the inhibition method and the induction method, resulting in jamblang potentially as an antidiabetic. Conclusion:The results of the review that have been carried out explain the phytochemical study using HPLC method there are groups of flavonoid, phenolic, and phenylpropanoid compounds, and on the TLC method there are groups of terpenoids. Oleic acid and ursolic acid compounds have antidiabetic activity.

Abstract

Herbaceous liverwort Marchantia paleacea Bertol. has been known as a potential source that has bioactive compounds with various pharmacological benefits, such as: antimicroorganism, antifungal, antioxidant, immunomodulator, hepatoprotector, antipyretic, diuretic, cardiotonic, and vasorelactan. However, information regarding oral acute and sub-acute toxicity data from ethanol extracts of Marchantia paleacea Bertol. liverwort herb is still very limited. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the acute and sub-acute toxicity of liverwort herb ethanol extract in female mice of ddY strains. The acute toxicity test method was carried out by giving ethanol extract of the liverwort herb Marchantia paleacea Bertol. (EEMP) in single doses at doses of 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg bw orally for 14 days, while sub-acute toxicity tests were performed by administering EEMP test extracts at doses of 125, 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 mg/kg bw orally for 28 days in accordance with testing standards from BPOM (2022), Thompson-Weil, and OECD. Parameters observed include clinical symptoms (including: mortality), profile of body weight changes, biochemical analysis of serum, and histopathological analysis of vital organs (liver and kidney). Results from acute toxicity testing showed that a single dose of EEMP at the tested level did not cause significant clinical symptoms and histopathological disorders, and there were no deaths in test animals classified as mild toxic substances based on BPOM criteria ( 2000 mg/kg bw). And sub-acute toxicity tests from the 125, 250, and 2000 mg/kg bw test groups revealed a significant increase in average SGOT levels compared to the normal control group on the 28th test day (p0.05) but still within the normal range. Most other test parameter profiles show no significant changes. Some of the observed changes, particularly in the biochemical and histological parameters of the organs that occur are assumed to be transient reaction effects and are not a sign of toxicity. These findings suggest the need for further study of the potential toxic effects of the liverwort herb Marchantia paleacea Bertol. This study provides important insights in the understanding of the potential uses of the liverwort herb Marchantia paleacea Bertol. as a product of herbal ingredients (nutraseutics, supplements, and traditional medicine), and reinforces the need to understand the potential toxicity risks associated with it.

Abstract

Penyakit degeneratif menjadi penyebab kematian terbesar di dunia karena penurunan aktivitas fisik dan pola hidup yang disebabkan oleh kerusakan sel akibat reaktivitas senyawa radikal bebas. Radikal bebas dapat dihambat dengan senyawa antioksidan. Salah satu tumbuhan yang memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan alami yaitu daun kitolod (Isotoma longiflora L.) terbukti mengadung senyawa flavonoid yang dapat menghambat radikal bebas. Untuk meningkatkan ketertarikan masyarakat dalam mengkonsumsi daun kitolod dibuat minuman tradisional yang difermentasi disebut dengan kombucha. Kadar flavonoid total menggunakan metode kolorimetri dan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) untuk mengukur aktivitas antioksidan pada kombucha kitolod dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Kadar flavonoid total tiga sampel kombucha daun kitolod sampel A sebesar 1,6481 mg QE/g, kombucha daun kitolod sampel B sebesar 1,4056 mgQE/g, kombucha daun kitolod sampel C sebesar 1,5380 mg QE/g. Aktivitas antioksidan pada kombucha daun kitolod  memiliki nilai IC50 pada tiga sampel yaitu 540 ppm, 535 ppm, dan 539 ppm. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa kombucha daun kitolod mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan.
