This research analyzes the translation of English phrasal verbs into Indonesian. The goal of this research is to identify the translators’ understanding by means of equivalent translation of the phrasal verbs in Indonesian. Such goal is valuable since it helps us to see how the translators were able to comprehend meanings in context. The translation results also enable us to recognize the translators’ understandings of phrasal verbs of source language and their meanings in target language. This is a qualitative research which employs content analysis method. The data analysis technique is categorizing, or separation of the translation results based on the source language’s phrasal verbs type prior to applying meaning equivalence principles to the translations. The results of the analysis show that the respondents still face difficulties in translating English phrasal verbs into Indonesian because they are fixated on the verbal structures of source language and lack of understanding of the rules of the source language structure (linguistic barrier). Metacognitive barrier plays a role in the translation process due to lack of background knowledge gained from experience, thus affecting the ability to build strategies and influence decision-making.

There have been changes in recent years in the study of translation and languages due to advancement and development of technology including language processing for translation tools. Therefore, translation theories should raise an awareness of the needs for technology and software as parts of translators’ workbench. This paper provides insights into computer translation through the viewpoint of translation theory. It felt that the modern-day translators - professionals and amateurs as well as translator-researchers and language specialists – should be informed about this, aiming to increase awareness on the relationship between translation technology and translation theory. At the end, the journey arrives at the conclusion that both human translators and machine translation come upon problems during the process of translation. There has been multitude studies on bilingualism, yet this paper explores the trilingualism in Indonesian context. Although this case study cannot represent the whole population speaking three language in Indonesian context, it is true that the intrusions may occur due to language choice and the environmental factors as Grosjean proposes that the code switching behavior is a result of language choice in a particular setting, interactions, topics included, and the interaction functions. Using questionnaire to gather language background, language use, and language choices together with recording tape to record the conversation with the participant, the findings support Grosjean’s model of language activation of trilingualism and there are some environmental factors caused trilingual chooses the language she speaks.

The aim of this paper is looking on the impact of English as a global language from an angle of how English language is used in local printed advertising media in Jakarta particularly on fliers. Discussion takes place by comparing two different brands in the city: a local brand advertisement and an international/multinational brand advertisement which sells similar product. Linguistic elements such as lexical category (verbs, nouns, etc.) are the focal point of the discussion. It can be said, at the end, that the local brands try to get brand power and position in the market through the usage of English language (as language choice), product name, logo, and even the content message in brochures and menus. Meanwhile it seems that the international brand uses adaptation technique to call for Indonesianisation of their product. Keywords: English as global language, advertisement, linguistic elements

This paper illustrates an approach to linguistic annotation task to translating a text particularly on translating figure of speech in an English fiction novel Falling into Glory. Attaining factual information concerning problems faced by the writer/translator herself in translating source text and giving plausible solutions to the difficulties are the purpose of this annotated translation. Four figures of speech to be discussed respectively originate from two chapters of the novel that the writer found them rather difficult to translate; those difficulties became translation problems for the writer/translator. The solutions to these problems were attained by the annotation or analysis done relevant to the translation strategies and translation theories.

To understand the Diffusion of Innovation and its impact on achieving organisational goals, this research investigates the utilisation of the D-Corp Division Model Based on Corporation, an innovative approach implemented within farmer groups and associations to establish the Division of Agricultural Training in Binuang. Employing a quantitative survey method, the study conducts regression analysis to ascertain the significance of relationships between variables. The findings reveal that the Diffusion of innovation variable demonstrates a significant effect on other variables, as evidenced by the tcount value (1.660) exceeding the critical ttable value (3.197) at a level of significance below the table score (0.002 < 0.05). Consequently, the initial hypothesis (a) is accepted, implying that the Diffusion of Innovation does not significantly influence the application of Innovation. On the other hand, the Innovation Variable exhibits a tcount value (5.003) more significant than the critical ttable value (1.660) with an influence score below the table score (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, the second hypothesis is accepted, indicating a substantial partial influence of Innovation on the application of Innovation in this study. Moreover, the Diffusion of Innovation and work innovation have a combined impact on the research data (0.000 < 0.05, Fcount = 34.663 > Ftable = 3.07). Consequently, Ha3 is accepted, signifying a simultaneous correlation between two independent variables: the innovation diffusion variable (X1) and work innovation variable (X2) concerning the application of innovation (Y) variable.

This research examines Kartini in Kartini: Princess of Java through the lens of Judith Butler’s concepts of vulnerability and gender performativity. Butler argues that cultural norms and power structures shape individuals’ gender identities and render them inherently vulnerable to external influences. By applying Butler concepts to the stories in Kartini: Princess of Java, the article asserts that the characters not only conform to gender norms to gain recognition but also face vulnerability due to her position within societal structures. This research carried out in a qualitative framework. The analysis explored how the character performed gender roles and the implications of her actions in the social realm. The findings show that Kartini’s performative acts involves breaking free from the normative scripts assigned to women of her time. She confronts gender expectations through her outspokenness, challenging practices like early marriages and polygamy that perpetuate inequality. Her advocacy for women's education is a performative act that aims to disrupt the conventional roles of women and to open new possibilities for their empowerment. This performative activism is intricately intertwined with Kartini's vulnerability. She shares her inner struggles, aspirations, and conflicts, transcending the boundaries set by her society. Her vulnerability becomes a catalyst for social change, inspiring other women to join her cause and challenge existing norms. Kartini's willingness to embrace her vulnerability demonstrates authenticity and sincerity, making her advocacy relatable and impactful.
