Abstract

It is ordinary that riwāyah (oral transmission) has been the main media in transmitting knowledge. Indeed, for the Arabs, the transmission system was used not only in transmitting hadits, but also in transmitting the history. In terms of the transmission of traditions, the transmitters were very strict in applying the rules of transmission. Hence, such an isnād system has a very important value in the history. Muslims in the past gave much attention to such an isnād system.The transmissions of poetry had been emerged before the transmissions did. Every poetry has the transmitters. They keep and guarantee the continuity of the poetry transmission. The relation between the poetry transmitters and their poetries is not different from that of the transmitters of hadits and their hadits. Key words: hadits, isnād, Jahiliyah poetry, oral transmission.

Abstract

Adanya perbedaan menandai pergeseran cara pandang terhadap sastra, di mana sastra yang dahulu dipandang sebagai cermin kehidupan semata kini beralih menjadi sebuah medium yang efektif untuk melakuan kritik sosial (dan juga poitik). Para sastrawan pun membuat suatu karya sastra yang mampu mengemban fungsi itu. Tulisan ini membandingkan tiga karya sastra Arab Mesir kontemporer: Al-Ayyâm karangan Toha Hussein, Qindîl Ummi Hâsyim karya Yahyâ Haqqî, dan Bain al-Qashrain milik Najîb Mahfûzh. Di tengah perbedaan genrenya, tiga karya tersebut menunjukkan kemiripan pada aspek gaya bahasa dan tujuan utama penulisannya. Dari aspek yang kedua ini, sejak di bagian awal dari masing-masing karya tersebut mengarah kepada kritik sosial pada titik concern masing-masing: kritik terhadap metode pengajaran, penghormatan yang berlebihan terhadap tokoh agama, dan perlakuan suami terhadap istri dalam kehidupan berumah tangga.

Abstract

This reaserch is discuss about forms of the Broken Plural along with the translation contained in “Al-Qur’anul Karim Bacaan Mulia”, written by Indosesian writer he is H.B Jassin who has translated Al-Qur’an by poetic language. The restricting the problem of this reaserch are the only forms of the Broken Plural in Letter of Al-Noor. In this study, the researcher used the qualitive method of library study. Qualitive method are research methods that produce descriptive data in the form of written words, from books relating to research problems. Using the theory of morphologi to determinate the patterns of the Broken Plural in the object of studies. As for the results, found 31 of Broken Plurals by denying some of the same words. There are 14 words of Lesser Broken Plural in Letter of Al-Noor with three patterns, which are اَفعُل، افعِلة ، افعال. There are 14 words of Greater Broken Plural with six patterns, which are فعلاء، فعول، فعال، فِعْلان، فَعلى، وفعُل, and 3 words of Ultimate Plural (Ṣīgah Muntaha al-Jumu‘) which are: ف واعل، فعاليل، مفاعل.Then the suitability of H.B Jassin in translating the Broken Plural in his creation, it’s “Al-Qur’anul Karim Bacaan Mulia”.

Abstract

This article studies Al-Fātiḥah, the first Surah of the Alquran. As the opening of the Alquran, by which the name indicates, Al-Fātiḥah represents the whole contents of the Holy Book, thus, it is also named as Ummu l-Kitāb. In addition to Prophetic traditions informing the fuction of the Surah as invocation, these facts can explain the reason why it is very close to Muslims’ life, and has deserved interpraters’ attention. Nevertheless, apart from this familiarity, the main problem to question in this small research is concerning the use of praise (to God) preceeding every invocation, as this Surat shows. By employing Rhetoric and Stylistic approaches, this study focuses on Surah al-Fātiḥah in regards with its aspects of phonetic, word forms, wordings, and word positioning in the structure of every single sentence, to be able to grasp the aesthetics of the Sūrah as well as the doctrines contained therein as ethical values. The results of the study show that Sūrah al-Fātiḥah poses high level of aesthetics, by employing various language styles such as, to mention some, anastrophe (taqdīm wa ta’khīr) and “enallage” (iltifāt). This Surah also contains lots of essence, and one of the most important in this regard is to be respectful during communication with the other.

Abstract

Literary, through its many forms, is found as a mirror of life, since it contains values and wisdoms of time and place where it is produced. Qashîdah (Arabic poetry) of Zuhayr ibn Abî Sulmâ as a kind of literary works can be considered as representation of so many other works uncovering pre-Islamic Arabic wisdom. Through literary critique, this article highlights intrinsic elements of qashîdah “A-Min Ummi Aufâ” of Zuhayr ibn Abî Sulmâ. Under the theme of hikmah (wisdom) contained in this qashîdah, ideas are dominant elements. The ideas expressed by Zuhayr deserved admiration of biggest critic of Prophet Contemporaries period, Umar ibn Khattab. Moral messages implied and expressed through its beautiful Ianguage style and high level of imagination; become one of other reasons why this qashîdah still get attention hitherto.

Abstract

Kontroversi seputar metode periwayatan berbagai materi sejarah dan keilmuan yang berasal dari masa Jahiliyah hingga awal-awal Islam terus berlanjut dan telah menjadi titik tolak perdebatan tentang otentisitasnya. Banyaknya ketidakcocokan antar berbagai varian dari teks yang sama mengarahkan sejumlah ilmuan untuk beranggapan bahwa transmisi mayoritas teks dilakukan secara lisan; dan fakta tentangada ya pemalsuan teks menyebabkan materi-materi tersebut, sebagian atau keseluruhan, dianggap tidak historis.Tiga manuskrip yang diteliti di sini, berasal dari abad ke 17 dan ke 18 M yang masing-masing berisikan qashidah Banat Su'ad karya penyair Mukhadhram (antara Jahiliyah dan Islam) Ka'b bin Zuhair, menunjukkan bahwa proses pengkopian teks dari sumber tertulis ternyata tidak selalu aman dari munculnya penyimpangan teks. Dengan membandingkan ketiga manuskrip tersebut, tampak jelas adanya perbedaan antara yang satu dengan yang lainnya, baik pada tingkat cara penulisan dan perubahan kata. Bahkan terjadi juga perbedaan letak dan penambahan atau pengurangan baris/bait puisi. Bahwa dua yang terakhir ini terjadi juga pada sumber-sumber di masa awal, maka diduga kuat berasal, dan sebagai akibat dari, periwayatan secara lisan.Namun demikian, meskipun patut diakui bahwa periwayatan secara lisan tidak memiliki tingkat akurasi yang sama dengan periwayatan secara tertulis, tetapi tidak berarti bahwa perbedaan pada teks selalu dapat menjadi acuan bagi klaim terhadap otentisitasnya.Kata Kunci: qashidah, transmisi text, Ka'b bin Zuhair, Banat Su'ad

Abstract

Speaking of a scholar can not be detached from his/her contribution(s) to the dicipline he/she deals with. In modern ḥadîth criticism, Ignaz Goldziher is regarded as one of the most prominent scholar with a wide range of influence. Through his provokative writings, he inspires the rise of many responses which lively signs the development of the discipline among Muslims and Orientalists. Goldziher’s interests, however, do not only cover ḥadîth, but also extended to other Arabo-Islamic sciences, more particularly literature criticism with the focus on ancient Arabic poetry. In regard with the ancient Arabic poetry, he too has his great influence by which he deserves to be regarded as a prominent critic of literature.Keen studies on Arabo-Islamic sciences that Goldziher conducted allows him for always being reffered to by scholars. And so his carefull writings are considerred still relevant. On any account, what makes it possible for him to pose such reputations is because of his broad and extensive reading, including the earliest history of the Arabs and Islam from authoritative sources.

Abstract

Tulisan kecil ini berupaya mendeskripsikan kualitas hadis tentang perilaku Nabi Muhammad saw. yang mencium istrinya sebelum melakukan shalat, melalui analisa takhrīj hadis. Hadis tersebut diriwayatkan oleh Imam Ahmad, dan dianggap lemah oleh Imam Bukhari. Perbedaan pandangan antara kedua tokoh, sebagaimana yang ditunjukkan dari artikel ini, muncul dari perbedaan standar yang ditetapkan oleh masing-masing dari keduanya tentang kriteria hadis sahih.

Abstract

This study aims to describe character education from Az Zarnuji's perspective. This study uses a literature study approach. In general, Sheikh Az Zarnuji's thoughts cover three things, namely: goals and intentions in learning, classification of knowledge, and methods in learning. The implementation of character education is more emphasized on goals, learning intentions and learning methods. In terms of learning methods, Az Zarnuji offers two methods, namely ethical methods and strategic methods. All of this is a form of character education put forward by Syekh Az Zarnuji in his work, namely Ta'lim Muta'allim. Keywords: Character, Az Zarnuji's perspective

Abstract

This study examines the translation of the poem “A jacket covered in blood by Taufik Ismail from Indonesian to Arabic by Nabilah Lubis, with the aim of analyzing intertextuality and meaning transformation in the translation of the poem. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research shows that the translation of this poem gives rise to cultural and political intertextuality between the two languages involved, as well as successfully maintaining the messages and nuances contained in the original text. Meaning transformation occurs in the translation process, where words or phrases in the original text are interpredted with different words in the target language to express similar or related meanings. This study provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of poetry translation and the importance of considering linguistic, curtural, political and literary aspects the process
