Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cod liver oil (MHK) supplementation in the ration on the quality of native chicken spermatozoa. Eight native chickens are kept in individual cages which are given MHK treatment as much as 0.7% of the total ration. Two weeks of maintenance. Semen was collected before treatment and four weeks after treatment. The parameters observed were macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of fresh semen before and after treatment. The results showed there were no differences in semen volume, semen color, semen pH, semen consistency, spermatozoa motility, spermatozoa viability and spermatozoa abnormalities before and after treatment. However, mass movement and spermatozoa concentration decreased after MHK supplementation treatment. The conclusion of this study is MHK supplementation did not affect the general characteristics of semen with the exception of mass movement and concentration of native chicken spermatozoa.

Abstract

A good semen diluent should have a high preservation ability, the addition of simple sugar such as glucose can act as a source of energy and a cryoprotectant for spermatozoa. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding glucose in the AndroMed® diluent to the sperm quality of Limousin crossbreed bull during the cryopreservation process. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatment levels and 5 replications. The level of treatment used was diluted semen with added 0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1% glucose, respectively. Semen was collected using an artificial vagina, diluted, and packaged in straws with a minimum concentration of 25 million spermatozoa per straw. Straw was equilibrated for 2 hours at 5 oC. The next step is prefreezing, freezing, and thawing at 37 oC for 30 seconds. Parameters observed were sperm viability and abnormality after equilibration and recovery rate. The results showed that the addition of glucose in the AndroMed® diluent had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the sperm viability after equilibration, but had no effect (P>0.05) on the sperm abnormality after equilibration and the recovery rate of spermatozoa after freezing. The addition of 0.6 to 0.8% glucose was able to increase the sperm viability (91.2-94.49%). The conclusion of this study was that the addition of glucose in the AndroMed® diluent only affected the sperm viability of Limousin crossbreed bull after equilibration and the best glucose percentages used were 0.6%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengaturan suhu dan kelembaban terhadap performa broiler di kandang closed house pada pemeliharaan usia 15-30 hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan 120 ekor broiler strain Cobb 500 berusia 15 hari, yang dipelihara selama 15 hari yang disusun berdasarkan rancangan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 taraf perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Setiap unit percobaan terdiri dari 10 ekor broiler dengan perlakuan suhu dan kelembaban masing-masing 27 0C dan 88 %, 28 0C dan 87 % dan 29 0C dan 86 %. Parameter yang diamati yaitu performa broiler yang terdiri dari konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, feed convertion ratio (FCR), dan mortalitas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengaturan suhu dan kelembaban memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata (P<0.01) terhadap konsumsi pakan, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05) terhadap pertambahan bobot dan Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR), mortalitas broiler selama penelitian sebesar 0.83%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengethui pengaruh pemberian pakan yang disuplementasi berbagai konsentrat hijau (lamtoro, gamal dan Indigofera) terhadap kandungan serat kasar feses sapi perah. Sapi perah Fries Holland (FH), sebanyak 12 ekor digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari 3 perlakuan yaitu: pemberian pakan jerami padi fermentasi + lamtoro 30 % (P1), pemberian pakan jerami padi fermentasi + gamal 30 % (P2), pemberian pakan jerami padi fermentasi + indigofera 30 % (P3). Parameter yang diamati yaitu persentase serat kasar pada feses sapi berupa ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber), NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber), selulosa, hemiselulosa dan lignin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase ADF berbeda nyata (P<0.05) antar perlakuan, perlakuan P2 menghasilkan ADF terendah (62.12%). Persentase selulosa berbeda nyata (P<0.05) antar perlakuan, P3 menghasilkan selulosa terendah (24.61%) dan P1 tertinggi (28.13%). Persentase NDF, hemiselulosa dan liginin tidak menghasilkan perbedaan dengan nilai masing-masing 75.90-76.82%, 11.92-13.2% dan17.55-19.59%. Kesimpulan ini adalah suplementasi Indigofera pada jerami fermentasi sebagai pakan mampu mereduksi kandungan selulosa dan meningkatkan ADF pada feses sapi perah jika dibandingkan suplementasi lamtoro dan gamal.
