Abstract

The Bekarang tradition, a communal fishing practice in South Sumatra, reflects sustainable river management but faces threats from modernization. Preserving it through education requires aligning its cultural meaning with learning contexts. This qualitative study examines the significance of Bekarang and its potential integration into Biology education through interviews with cultural and pedagogical experts, as well as a literature review. Thematic analysis identified key themes for contextualizing Biology learning, followed by interpreting indigenous science through socio-scientific issues. Findings reveal that the Bekarang embodies a blue economy philosophy, addressing SDGs by fostering cooperation, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. It aligns with Biology topics like ecosystem, conservation, and biodiversity, and suits pedagogical models. This study highlights the Bekarang’s value as an educational tool for culturally rooted and sustainable science learning.

Abstract

The presence of the covid pandemic, technological advances, and the complexities of the 21st century demand renewal of teaching materials in schools. Guided Inquiry learning models can also bridge the empowerment of critical thinking skills. This study aims to: 1) describe the feasibility of the e-worksheet based on expert judgment, 2) describe the practicality of the e-worksheet based on the teacher's assessment, and 3) describe the results of the e-worksheet readability assessment by students. This development research refers to the ADDIE development procedure. However, this research was only carried out up to the development stage due to limitations. The results of the feasibility assessment by material experts, teaching materials experts, and linguists showed that the e-worksheet was categorized as valid with a score of 80.00, 74.00, and 90.00, respectively. Then, the teacher's assessment results showed that the e-worksheet was in the practical category, scoring 92.00 and 94.00. Finally, the student readability test results showed that the e-worksheet could be read well, with scores of 93.61 and 93.88. Thus, the respiratory system e-worksheet based on the developed guided inquiry model can be recommended to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena Classical Test Theory (CTT) hanya dominan pada group-centered statistics dalam melihat pengaruh perlakuan, bukan pada individual-centered statistics. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Discovery Learning (DL) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dasar dengan pendekatan racking & stacking. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra eksperimen jenis one grup pre-test-post-test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas VII. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive. Instrumen memiliki unidimensional (40,6%) dan reliabilitas (0,87) yang baik. Data 30 siswa yang diperoleh ditransformasikan ke jenis data interval menggunakan pengukuran permodelan Rasch. Analisis data menggunakan paired sample t-test. Hasil paired sample t-test diperdalam lagi menggunakan racking dan stacking rasch model. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan nilai sebelum pembelajaran dan sesudah pembelajaran. Hasil racking menunjukkan bahwa 14 item soal mengalami perubahan tingkat kesukaran dari yang awalnya sulit dijawab oleh siswa menjadi mudah diajawab oleh siswa. Soal yang paling signifikan mengalami perubahan tingkat kesukaran adalah soal nomor 1 tentang mengamati jaringan, dan soal yang paling sedikit mengalami perubahan adalah soal nomor 9 tentang merencanakan percobaan. Hasil stacking menunjukkan bahwa ada 25 siswa yang mengalami peningkatkan, 3 siswa yang mengalami penurunan kemampuan dan 2 siswa kondisinya tetap.
