Abstract

The Community Partnership Empowerment Program for Strengthening the “Taruli” Fish Pond MSME towards Economic Independence aims to improve production efficiency, enhance business management, and expand market access through the implementation of technology and training. The main problems faced by the partner include high dependency on commercial feed, high production costs, unstructured financial management, limited access to capital, and marketing that still relies on middlemen at low and fluctuating prices. The proposed solutions include the installation of a pellet-making machine and feed ingredient chopper, training on feed formulation using locally available raw materials, assistance in financial record-keeping, preparation of a business plan, and strengthening marketing through branding and digital media. The results achieved show a significant impact on the production aspect, with a reduction in dependence on commercial feed by approximately 40% and production cost efficiency reaching 30–35%. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) has started to improve, while partners’ skills in feed production have significantly increased. In terms of business management, partners have started simple financial record-keeping and prepared a draft business plan, while in the marketing aspect, direct sales to consumers have begun along with the creation of business social media accounts. This program has proven to increase production independence, reduce production costs, and enhance the competitiveness of the MSME. However, several targets such as finalizing branding, securing access to financing, and product diversification still require further mentoring to maximize and sustain the overall impact.

Abstract

Technological developments have encouraged the use of generator sets as an alternative source of electricity, but this also causes problems, such as excessive heat production that disrupts comfort in the work area. This study aims to utilize sawdust and egg tray waste as heat-insulating materials for generator sets. Sawdust, which is often discarded, can be utilized to reduce the negative impacts of using generator sets and overcome environmental pollution caused by this waste. Previous studies have shown that the combination of sawdust and starch at certain temperatures can produce products with good compressive strength. The results of the ANOVA analysis in this study showed that the volume fraction of 35%: 15% with a thickness of 20 mm gave the highest heat absorption coefficient of 43.06°C, while the volume fraction of 40%: 10% with a thickness of 10 mm produced the lowest value of 35.8°C. These findings emphasize the importance of selecting volume fractions and thicknesses in increasing heat absorption efficiency, as well as providing alternative solutions for the management of sawdust and egg tray waste.

Abstract

Binders play a vital role in briquette production by uniting charcoal particles into a solid form. This study aims to evaluate the effect of tapioca starch concentration as a binder on reducing the ash content of coconut shell briquettes. The binder concentrations used were 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total material mixture, with ash content testing conducted according to SNI 01-6235-2000 standards. The briquette production process involved raw material preparation, mixing, molding, and drying. The results indicated that binder concentration significantly influenced the ash content of the briquettes. Lower binder concentrations resulted in reduced ash content, with the lowest ash content of 1.52% achieved at a binder concentration of 10%. Conversely, higher binder concentrations tended to increase ash content due to residual binder that did not fully combust. This study emphasizes the importance of regulating binder concentration to enhance the quality of coconut shell briquettes as an alternative fuel source.

Abstract

Noise is a serious problem that affects human health and comfort. This study aims to develop natural soundproofing materials from sawdust and egg trays as a more economical alternative to conventional soundproofing materials. Using an experimental method, this study analyzed the effect of volume fraction and specimen thickness on the sound absorption coefficient. The ANOVA results showed that both factors had a significant effect on certain frequencies. Specimens with a volume fraction of 40%:10% and a thickness of 20 mm produced the highest sound absorption coefficient of 0.163, while specimens with a volume fraction of 35%:15% and a thickness of 10 mm recorded the lowest value of 0.04. These findings indicate that the optimal combination of volume fraction and thickness can increase the effectiveness of the material in reducing noise, providing a sustainable solution to overcome noise problems in the surrounding environment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The reason for conducting this review is to determine the effect of alkalization on the tensile strength and elasticity of composites of bamboo fiber and coconut fiber with a polyester matrix by varying the NaOH with concentrations of 0%, 2%, and 5%. Alkalization is one of the modifications of natural fibers to develop a compatible fiber-matrix. This exploration strategy uses the hand lay-up technique. In the main cycle, bamboo fiber and coconut fiber were treated without alkalization or 0% alkalization and in the next interaction, bamboo and coconut fiber were soaked in water (2% and 5% NaOH) for 2 hours. Then, at that time, each treatment process was formed into a composite according to the standard tensile test of ASTM D638 – II. The volume portion of bamboo fiber is 15%, coconut fiber is 15% and polyester resin is 70%, and the arrangement of bamboo fibers and coconut fibers is arranged horizontally. The matrix used in this study is a polyester resin matrix of type 157 BTQN with 1% MEKPO hardener. The highest concentration from this review showed that bamboo fiber and coconut fiber composites with NaOH variations of 0%, 2% and 5% respectively had tensile strengths of 34.9 MPa, 34.9 MPa and 54.74 MPa. The highest concentration with 5% NaOH produced the highest tensile strength of 54.74 MPa, while the coconut fiber composite without alkalization had the lowest tensile strength of 34.9 MPa.
