Abstract

In the province of the Bangka Belitung islands, many people process quail eggs into various culinary foods. In the process of processing quail eggs must be boiled first until cooked and the peeling process is also still peeled manually or with simple tools, so the peeling process must spend a lot of energy and takes a relatively long time. This study aims to design and manufacture a quail egg shell peeler machine with a 2 screw system mechanism. The research method used is VDI 2222 which stages start with planning, conceptualizing, designing, and completing. The next process is making machine components which are carried out at the Polman Babel workshop then assembling the parts so that they become a machine and then testing and analysis are carried out. Based on the design results, the engine specifications use an electric motor HP 1400 rpm, the transmission system uses a pulley and type A V belt, and the reducer speed is 140 rpm. for the cracking process using a spinner that rotates 70 rpm while the stripping process uses a 2 screw 93 rpm system. Based on the test results obtained on average the machine peeled 16 grains per minute . This quail egg peeler machine has not been able to work optimally because some eggs are crushed and not peeled.

Abstract

Silencer is a tool to reduce the intensity of sound that occurs. Many have developed natural fibre-reinforced composite materials as an alternative to silencers, as they are considered more environmentally friendly than synthetic fibres and relatively cheaper. Resam plants are found in the Bangka Belitung area so that the availability is quite abundant. The purpose of this research is to test the sound absorption coefficient of resam fibre with polyester matrix as an alternative material for soundproofing. Making specimens using the hand lay-up method and research design using the full factorial method. The process variables used were volume fraction of 5%:95%, 10%:90%, 15%:85% and NaOH soaking time of 60, 90, 120 minutes and testing frequency of 500 Hz and 1000Hz. Based on the test results, the highest sound absorption coefficient was obtained in the variation of volume fraction of 15%: 85% volume fraction variation and the immersion time of NaOH solution for 90 minutes at a frequency of 500 Hz was 0.375. While the lowest sound absorption coefficient value in the variation of 5% volume fraction: 95% and the immersion time of NaOH solution for 90 minutes at a frequency of 1000 Hz was 0.16. Based on ISO 11654, the results obtained from this study, resam fibre filler composites can be used as an alternative sound absorbing material because it has exceeded the minimum value of 0.15.

Abstract

The use of  fiber composites derived from nature whose properties are no less than synthetic fibers and environmentally friendly has been widely studied. Closely natural gambas plants are  found in Indonesia but are still little studied as composites. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of immersion of 3% and 5% NaOH liquids with fiber volume fractions of 20%, 30% and 40% within 2 hours soaking time on gambas fibers. Thes pecimen made uses  the hand lay-up method combined with the full faktorial method with 2  factors and 3 levels in the first factor and then 2 levels in the second factor which is carried out 3 repetitions, so that 18 data  are obtained.  From the study, the highest test result impact strength value was 0.00493 J / mm2 at a volume fraction of 40% with immersion of 3% NaOH liquid. This means that the influence of the higher the fiber volume fraction, the better the composite impact strength. While the lowest result is found in the voume fraction of 20% with 3% NaOH, which is 0.00173 J / mm2. Based on previous research, the results of this impact test still cannot be used as a substitute for SNI helmet manufacturing materials which have an impact strength value of 0.00972 J / mm2.

Abstract

Resam is a type of fern or fern that usually grows in shady and humid areas. This plant has not been used as a raw material for making sound absorbers, even though resam is found in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province area so that the raw material is easy to obtain. The purpose of this research is to determine composites with resam fibre reinforcement as an alternative soundproofing material. Making sampels using hand lay-up method and research design using full factorial method. The process variables in this study are the volume fraction of 5%: 95%, 10%: 90%, 15%: 85% and the length of NaOH immersion for 60, 90, 120 minutes and the testing frequency of 125Hz, 500 Hz, and 4000Hz. Based on the results of this study, the highest overall frequency sound absorption coefficient was obtained in sample no. 6, with a volume fraction of fibre and matrix of 15% : 85% and 90 minutes of NaOH immersion of α = 0.243. While the lowest overall frequency sound absorption coefficient value is in sample no 3, with a volume fraction of fibre and matrix of 15% : 85% and 60 minutes of NaOH immersion of α = 0.193. So the composite with resam fibre reinforcement based on ISO 11654 can be used as an alternative sound absorbing material.

Abstract

The aim of the Community Service Program for partners in the group making Ampiang and squid chips in Selindung Lama Village, Gabek District, Pangkalpinang City is to increase production capacity and quality and improve the partner business management system. The survey results showed that there were problems in the dough mixing production process carried out by partners who still used manual methods. As a result, partners' production capabilities are limited. Apart from that, in terms of business management, existing partners are still not optimal. The partner's average kneading capacity is 2-3 kg in 35 minutes. From the results of the discussion, improvements were made to the production system by providing dough mixing machines and marketing management training. Creating alternative concepts based on data from literature studies, interviews with partners. The alternative concept chosen as the machine design was assessed based on the results of discussions with partners looking at the aspects of frame dimensions, machine height, stirrer dimensions, motor power used, machine plate size used. The production process is carried out in the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic Manufacturing Mechanic workshop (Polman Babel). The manufacture and procurement of Dough Mixer machines for partners has been realized well and has been provided directly to partners. The capacity of this kneading machine is 5 kg for one process. With a time of 7 minutes to 10 minutes and this machine can be used by partners for production activities for making Ampiang and kritcu, especially in the dough mixing process, partners have been able to increase the productivity of Ampiang and Kritcu through the application of appropriate technology machines In order to increase production capacity from previous production capacity by up to 100% and increase added value for partners.

Abstract

Fried onions made from shallots are an important type of horticultural crop and are very often used by the public. The process of making fried onions is carried out in several stages until it becomes fried onions that are ready to be consumed, starting from peeling the onion skin, slicing, frying, draining and packing. From the results of a survey conducted on partners, the process of slicing onions is still done manually using a slicing tool made of wood. Mrs. Yuliana, who currently produces fried onions, reaches 10 kg/day for Monday - Thursday, and Friday - Sunday 15-20 kg/day, and for religious holidays usually the capacity produced can reach 60 kg/day, with a total on average 500 kg per month, you have to replace the slicer every 4 months. The tool currently used to slice onions has a capacity of 10 kg/hour, so it requires more energy and time for the slicing process. In order to increase the production of shallots and produce slices as is done today, a shallot slicing machine was developed with a slicing system similar to the tool used. Partners receive appropriate technology in the form of shallot slicing machines and training on the process of using the machine and maintaining the machine. Apart from that, a monitoring and evaluation process is also carried out to measure the level of success and obstacles to the machines used by partners. After developing a red onion slicing machine, partner production productivity increased, the machine can function well and is capable of peeling 2.5 kg of red onion skin in 4 minutes in one process or 37.5 kg/hour.

Abstract

The development of composite materials currently not only with synthetic reinforcing materials but also with natural fiber reinforcing materials, because natural fibers have diverse characteristics. In this research, looking at the characteristics of Oil Palm Empety Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) fiber which has a high cellulose and hemicellulose content, which is generally used for soundproofing materials. So a composite research will be made from the main material of OPEFB  fiber with polyester resin as the matrix. The purpose of this research is to determine the sound absorption value of the composition of the mixture of OPEFB  fiber and resin. The method used is the hand lay-up method combined with the Taguchi Method on the L4(23) orthogonal matrix design used as a reference for the sound absorbing composite manufacturing process. The L4(23) orthogonal matrix design is used because there are three process parameters that have two levels. Repetition is repeated three times. The process parameters are the volume fraction of OPEFB  fiber and resin, the length of fiber soaking with NaOH, and the thickness of the composite. The research results from three repetitions obtained the highest value in sample I with a mean value = 77.93 dB at a frequency of 2000 Hz, and the lowest value in sample III with a mean value = 32.97 dB at a frequency of 125 Hz.

Abstract

Along with the times, synthetic composite materials are often used as materials for making reinforcing car panels, car dashboards and other interior devices. Although synthetic composite materials have strong strength, synthetic composite materials are less environmentally friendly and have an expensive price. Natural fibres are an alternative to synthetic fibres in order to reduce natural pollution and reduce production costs. Therefore, in this research I will use palm fibre and resam as reinforcement material. The purpose of this research is to find out whether mixing between resam fibre and palm fibre to make a car dashboard has reached the standardised value of making a car dashboard. The hand lay-up method will be combined with the Taguchi method in the L9(34) orthogonal matrix design used as a guide for making test specimens. With tensile and impact testing. This study used variations in volume fraction of 25%, 30%, 35% fibre, as well as variations in fibre length of 30mm, 40mm, 50mm with 2h NaOH immersion. The highest average value of impact test strength was at 30% volume fraction of fibre with 30mm fibre length with a value of 0.0617 Joule and the lowest average value was at 25% volume fraction of fibre with 50mm fibre length with a value of 0.0307 Joule.
