Abstract

Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is a serious issue in Indonesia with negative impacts on child development. Therefore, early prevention of CSA is an essential aspect of parenting. While the responsibility of parenting is often more focused on mothers, the role of fathers is also crucial, especially in the context of CSA prevention. This study aims to investigate the differences between fathers' and mothers' Parenting Self Efficacy (PSE) in preventing CSA in children aged 4-7 years. This comparative study involved 111 parents (79 mothers and 32 fathers) with children aged 4-7 years. Incidental sampling technique was used in this research. Data were collected using a PSE scale in preventing CSA, consisting of 31 valid items with a significance level between 0.50-1.00 and a reliability of 0.758. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann Whitney U-Test. The analysis showed a significance value of 0.974. Since this value is greater than 0.05, the hypothesis stating that mothers have higher PSE than fathers in preventing CSA is rejected. Abstract

Mental health is essential for first-year college students, affecting their transition and academic success. The transition phase involves significant challenges due to major life changes. This study presents data on the mental health conditions of first-year students at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and emphasizes the need for comprehensive, community-based interventions. A quantitative cross-sectional approach was utilized, surveying 410 first-year students from the 2024 cohort using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21). Findings revealed high levels of anxiety, followed by depression and stress, with factors such as gender, age, and geographic origin significantly influencing mental health outcomes. Differences in admission pathways and tuition levels also provided valuable context. A comprehensive intervention strategy is proposed to address these issues, combining quarterly and daily components. The quarterly program, Q-CARE (Quarterly – Campus Adaptation & Resilience Enhancement), involves mandatory mental health screenings, personalized counseling referrals, and mentor check-ins. The daily support system includes mood journaling integrated into classroom attendance, motivational posters with QR codes linking to counseling services, and a "Mind Space" feature within the MyUNNES app offering self-help tools like grounding podcasts and breathing exercises. This program leverages existing resources and technology to support students during their transition and academic journey, promoting early detection and sustained mental well-being. Successful implementation will require collaboration among stakeholders, particularly university administrators, to ensure a lasting impact on student mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt and validate the ChatGPT Usage Scale among Indonesian university students. Using a quantitative psychometric approach, data were collected from 542 active university students across Indonesia selected through convenience sampling. The adaptation followed the International Test Commission (2017) guidelines. Content validity using Aiken’s V showed a high value (0.894). The initial Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) indicated poor fit (CFI = 0.741; TLI = 0.698), but after removing eight items with factor loadings below 0.40, the seven-item model achieved good fit (CFI = 0.949; TLI = 0.924; RMSEA = 0.056; SRMR = 0.034). The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient (0.703) indicated acceptable reliability. Findings revealed that the original three-dimensions structure (Academic Writing Aid, Academic Task Support, and Reliance and Trust) was not fully supported in the Indonesian student context. The Reliance and Trust dimension could not be retained due to insufficient valid indicators. Despite achieving a statistically fit model, the adapted version remains conceptually limited and requires further refinement to comprehensively capture ChatGPT usage behavior among Indonesian students. Indonesian students primarily use ChatGPT instrumentally with limited trust, highlighting the need for higher education institutions to integrate AI literacy, ethical usage guidelines, and reflective learning practices. Furthermore, the adapted scale provides a foundation for future research to better understand AI utilization in academic contexts.
