Abstract

Memorizing the Qur’an is not merely a cognitive activity but also a psychological and spiritual process that requires strong mental endurance and self-confidence. In many Islamic boarding schools, students often face difficulties in maintaining consistency and achieving memorization targets, indicating that psychological factors play a crucial role in tahfiz success. This study aims to examine the influence of Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Self-Efficacy (SE) on students’ Qur’an memorization ability, both partially and simultaneously. The research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto correlational design. Data were collected from 157 students selected through proportional random sampling from three Islamic boarding schools in East Kalimantan. The instruments consisted of AQ and SE questionnaires based on Likert scales and a Qur’an memorization performance test assessed through tasmi’ sessions. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. The results indicate that AQ and SE simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ Qur’an memorization ability (F = 82.125, p < 0.05). Partially, both variables show positive and significant influences, with Adversity Quotient (β = 1.106) exerting a stronger effect than Self-Efficacy (β = 0.546). These findings demonstrate that psychological endurance and self-belief are key determinants of success in Qur’an memorization. The study implies that tahfiz education should not only focus on memorization techniques but also systematically integrate psychological resilience and confidence-building strategies to enhance students’ academic and spiritual achievement.

Abstract

Program Studi Lapangan sebagai Dosen merupakan inisiatif inovatif yang dirancang untuk memperkuat kompetensi pedagogik dan profesional calon pendidik di UIN Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda, khususnya dalam mata kuliah Komunikasi Pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi program, termasuk strategi pembelajaran, dinamika kelas, dan dampaknya terhadap kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data mengikuti model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña, yang terdiri dari kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan/verifikasi kesimpulan yang dilakukan secara siklis. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa program ini diimplementasikan melalui tiga tahap utama: persiapan mengajar, praktik mengajar, dan refleksi-evaluasi. Program ini secara efektif meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam mempersiapkan materi pembelajaran, mengelola kelas, dan menerapkan strategi komunikasi pendidikan yang dialogis. Tantangan utama meliputi tingkat kesiapan mahasiswa yang bervariasi, waktu praktik yang terbatas, dan kurangnya pengalaman dalam menangani hambatan komunikasi antarpeserta didik. Secara keseluruhan, program Studi Lapangan sebagai Dosen terbukti relevan dan memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik calon pendidik di masa mendatang. Abstract

Learning to memorize the Qur'an is an important part of Islamic education that requires effective strategies to be able to form a generation of memorizers of the Qur'an who excel spiritually and intellectually. This study aims to reveal the learning strategy for memorizing the Qur'an from the perspective of Albert Bandura's theory in two Islamic educational institutions in Bontang City, namely MAN Bontang (state) and SMA IT YABIS (private). A qualitative approach with a multi-site study design was used in this study, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Bandura's theory was used as the basis for analysis, especially in the aspects of modeling (exemplary behavior of teachers and peers), self-efficacy (student self-confidence), and reinforcement (social reinforcement). The results of the study showed that the learning strategy for memorizing the Qur'an in both institutions prioritized a personal approach, intensive mentoring, and strengthening the Qur'anic character through mentoring activities, joint muroja'ah, and a structured reward system. MAN Bontang excels in systemic reinforcement through the madrasah program, while SMA IT YABIS excels in an individual approach and family involvement. In conclusion, the learning strategy for memorizing the Al-Qur'an based on Bandura's theory has been proven to be able to significantly increase students' motivation, self-confidence, and memorization achievements, and is relevant to be applied in the context of Islamic education in both state and private institutions by adjusting the characteristics of the institution.

Abstract

The classic problem of contemporary education today is the integration of two knowledge entities which many have positioned both as diametrical of one another, i.e. the religious knowledge (Semitic) and general knowledge (Hellenistic). This polarization later created a variant that has different form and characteristics, in terms of materials, educational systems, and organizational forms. In order to build an educational system that enables to generate the idealistic results, the management system should not be separated to philosophical rules which lie within, mostly the epistemological frame. Hence, it is important to construct the epistemology of monochotomic Islamic education and management which characterized by Islamic values. The values become the foundation of all operational functions of the management, including managing educational system efficiently and effectively. Both are the forms of philosophical Islamic education in the aspects of axiology and epistemology that could generate human who acquire scientific and technological skills as well as obedience to Islam.

Abstract

This study examines the role of learning organization leadership in creating the competitive advantage of madrasahs through a business strategy approach. The study is grounded in the assumption that madrasahs, as Islamic educational institutions, are required to respond to globalization, intensifying competition, and increasing public expectations by strengthening both organizational learning and strategic management. A qualitative design with an exploratory case study approach was employed to investigate madrasahs that had implemented learning organization leadership and demonstrated competitive advantage. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis and were analyzed using qualitative data analysis supported by triangulation to ensure trustworthiness. The findings reveal that learning organization leadership is characterized by a clear and measurable vision, a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development, the cultivation of a collaborative learning culture, effective teamwork, openness to change, and encouragement of innovation. These leadership characteristics enable madrasahs to formulate adaptive business strategies aimed at improving learning quality, strengthening service quality, enhancing institutional competitiveness, attracting prospective students, and increasing public trust. The study also shows a functional relationship in which learning organization leadership serves as the enabling force, business strategy acts as the value-creation mechanism, and competitive advantage emerges as the organizational outcome. In conclusion, the study highlights that visionary, adaptive, and stakeholder-oriented leadership is essential for sustaining the relevance, legitimacy, and competitiveness of madrasahs in a rapidly changing educational environment.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia are growing rapidly, yet many still struggle to maintain competitiveness and community trust. This study examines the influence of service quality and work commitment on preferences in choosing pesantren, with patronage figures (kyai) as mediating variables. Using a quantitative explanatory causal design, data were collected from 380 respondents, consisting of students and guardians at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, East Java. The data were analyzed with Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling. The results reveal that service quality significantly affects both patronage figures (β = 0.502, p < 0.001) and preferences (β = 0.243, p < 0.01), whereas work commitment significantly influences patronage figures (β = 0.354, p < 0.001) but has no direct effect on preferences (β = 0.096, p = 0.212). Patronage figures have the strongest impact on preferences (β = 0.539, p < 0.001) and mediate the effects of both service quality (β = 0.475, p < 0.001) and work commitment (β = 0.233, p < 0.001). These findings confirm that technical factors such as service quality and teacher commitment shape community preferences only when reinforced by the authority and legitimacy of kyai leadership. The study advances the SERVQUAL and Social Exchange frameworks in faith-based education and suggests that pesantren should integrate service improvements with stronger leadership visibility to sustain community loyalty and institutional competitiveness. The research implies that to effectively increase community preference for Islamic boarding school institutions (pesantren), institutions must not only focus on tangible improvements in service quality but also strategically emphasize the selection and visibility of a respected patronage figure (kyai) who possesses strong legitimacy in the eyes of the community.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still some teachers who lack discipline, especially in terms of punctuality of attendance at MA Darul Ihsan Samarinda. This study aims to find out the role of madrasah heads in improving teacher discipline and the impact of the policies implemented. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data sources for madrasah heads, deputy madrasah heads, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data validity uses triangulation of sources and techniques. Data analysis uses the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the head of the madrasah plays a role as a leader by providing an example to teachers, as an educator by providing an understanding that the teacher is an example for students, as a manager through the teaching supervision program, and as a supervisor by checking the teaching journal and the presence of teachers. The policy of the head of the madrasah has a positive impact on improving teacher discipline and is considered not burdensome. However, the implementation of the policy still faces several obstacles so that the firmness of the madrasah head is needed so that all teachers can be disciplined and create a conducive and orderly madrasah environment.
