Abstract

Abstract

Early breastfeeding is beneficial for both mother and child because breast milk plays an important role in supporting the growth, well-being, survival of the baby, causing uterine contractions and preventing postpartum hemorrhage. Based on the results of the 2017 Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (SDKI), only 3.7% of babies received breast milk on the first day, while breastfeeding in the first 2 months of age was 64%, which then decreased in the following period of 3 months of age 45.5%, at the age of 4-5 months 13.9% and 6-7 months 7.8%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the use of breast milk substitutes (PASI) commonly called formula or formula milk threefold in the period 2015 from 10.8% to 32.4% in 2017. The purpose of this study was to determine the Effectiveness of Giving Katuk Leaf Decoction on Breast Milk Production on the Third Day of Postpartum at the Bantur Community Health Center UPT, Malang Regency. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 30 people consisting of 15 experimental groups and 15 control groups. Conducted in May 2025. The results of the study showed that the average breast milk adequacy in breastfeeding mothers in the experimental group before giving katuk leaves was 6.60 and after giving katuk leaves was 8.47. In conclusion, giving katuk leaves has been proven effective in increasing breast milk adequacy in breastfeeding mothers.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Both medical and non-medical approaches can be used to post-cesarean care for wound healing. Changing the bandage on the surgical site once a day is an example of medical post-sc care. This study aims to determine the effects of giving catfish to patients who have had caesarean sections. Methods: This study had 27 people and employed a quasi-experimental non-equivalent research design. Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted when a statistical test using the Wilcoxon Test produces a p value of 0.000, where p value (0.000) is less than 0.05. It may be concluded that catfish extract at the Dr. Shodiq Jember Clinic works well to speed up the healing process of SC wounds. Conclusion: Giving kutuk fish extract is effective for healing post-CS wounds. This is because kutuk fish is easier for the body to digest, and has a higher albumin content than eggs. The high albumin protein content in kutuk fish makes this fish effective for the wound healing process. The phenomenon in society, since long ago, people believe that kutuk fish can accelerate the wound healing process, however, some people dislike or are hesitant to eat kutuk fish due to its fishy flavor and odor, therefore kutuk fish extract obtained through such a process, it will be easier for people to consume it, and the wound healing process will run.

Abstract

Child marriage remains a persistent public health issue in Indonesia, including in Jember Regency. Early marriage is closely linked to adolescent pregnancy and may increase the risk of childbirth complications, which contribute to maternal and neonatal morbidity. This study aimed to analyze the association between child marriage (<18 years) and the incidence of childbirth complications. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted using purposive sampling. The study included 30 mothers who had delivered between January and December 2024 and met the inclusion criteria. Data were obtained from medical records. Age at marriage was categorized as <18 years or≥18 years, and childbirth complications were recorded as present or absent. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and logistic regression. Of the total respondents, 2 mothers married before age 18, and 28 married at age 18 or older. Childbirth complications occurred in 1 out of 2 mothers (50.0%) who married before 18 years and in 24 out of 28 mothers (85.7%) who married at ≥18 years. Statistical analysis showed a significant association between age at marriage and childbirth complications (p = 0.042). Logistic regression analysis indicated that age at marriage was associated with the risk of childbirth complications (OR = 5.45). Age at marriage is significantly associated with the incidence of childbirth complications. These findings highlight the importance of preventing child marriage, strengthening reproductive health education, and improving the quality of antenatal care services to reduce maternal and neonatal complications.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual pain complaint experienced by adolescent girls, which can disrupt daily activities and reduce overall quality of life. One increasingly studied alternative for menstrual pain management is the use of herbal remedies, including red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum), known for its natural anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. This study aims to evaluate the effect of red ginger extract on the intensity of dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls in Kanigoro Village, Pagelaran District, Malang Regency. Using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test post-test design, 30 participants received an oral intervention of red ginger extract. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a statistically significant difference in pain intensity before and after the intervention (p = 0.000), with pain levels decreasing from moderate and severe categories to mild or no pain. These findings suggest that red ginger extract is effective in alleviating menstrual pain and holds potential as a natural solution that can be widely applied within communities that embrace herbal-based traditions.

Abstract

One of the factors influencing a mother’s breastfeeding willingness is her level of knowledge. Low exclusive breastfeeding coverage rates may result in infants not receiving adequate nutrition. Thus, exclusive breastfeeding is strongly recommended to support the growth and development process of children from an early age. Strategies to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding include breastfeeding education, social support, and improving maternal self-confidence, all of which are incorporated within the Tri Core Breastfeeding Models approach. This model is a practice guide based on health promotion strategies focused on mothers to increase awareness of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to examine The Effect of Tri Core Breastfeeding Models on the Willingness of Breastfeeding Mothers at Wijayakusuma General Hospital in 2025. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 at RSU Wijayakusuma in Kebumen using a pre-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. A total of 30 respondents participated in the study, and data were collected using the Infant Feeding Intentions Scale (IFIS), which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test with a 95% significance level. The results of the analysis showed that the significance value of P=0.000, which indicated a significant difference after the intervention. Thus, the implementation of the Tri Core Breastfeeding Models has been proven to increase mothers’ breastfeeding willingness. It is recommended that this approach be integrated into midwifery care services to support the success of exclusive breastfeeding programs.

Abstract

Indonesia’s infant mortality rate remains a pressing public health challenge, recorded at 24 per 1,000 live births in 2021. Most infant deaths occur within the first month of life and are preventable through adequate parental knowledge of newborn care. This study aimed to analyze the effect of health education on mothers’ knowledge of newborn care at home. A quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was employed. The sample consisted of 30 mothers with newborns aged 0–3 months, selected using purposive sampling. Knowledge was measured using a validated questionnaire before and after health education interventions delivered through counseling and group discussions. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired T-Test. Results showed that prior to the intervention, 46.7% of mothers had insufficient knowledge, 36.6% had sufficient knowledge, and 16.7% had good knowledge. After the intervention, knowledge improved significantly, with 56.7% achieving good knowledge. The average score increased from 58.40 to 78.60, with a t-value of -9.84 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The findings confirm that health education significantly enhances maternal knowledge of newborn care, supporting efforts to reduce infant mortality in Indonesia through improved home-based practices.
